Are the crpg titles any good? The fantasy cyberpunk setting seems quite interesting. Also I've heard returns is quite short for an rpg, would it be better to start with dragonfall?

they're good entry level crpgs. easy but a fun world to explore
returns is fine but the engine/ui is pretty bad. the campaign for it was ported to dragonfall though so you can start there

They're pretty good, even very good at times, especially Dragonfall. The gameplay and character progression are very basic so don't expect any build autism like pathfinder games or something. These games are mostly carried by the atmosphere, characters and story. Returns is much shorter than the other 2 and overall a worse game but it's still decent and mechanically very similar. It's more like a prototype or a long demo that was made to attract new players and funding to the IP so they can make a full fledged game like Dragonfall.

Dragonfall and hong kong are okay, return isnt really worth the time imo

I would get a emu and play SNES Shadowrun over Return honestly.

Returns is ok. Worth playing if you're gonna play all three.
Dragonfall is the best story-wise. The companions are okay.
Hong Kong improved upon Dragonfall mechanically. The companions are cool, the story wasn't as good.

I'm not a Shadowrun guy, but I've replayed the whole series a few times. Got bored of Hong Kong two thirds of the way in the first time, couldn't finish it due to a game-breaking bug on my second go-around. Never finished it to this day.

laser whips!

You might enjoy Cyber Knights Flashpoint. It's a little more like Xcom (tactical heists+combat and base management) but has classes with skills and some are basically magic (but nanomachines).

Damn, I love that movie.

The best Shadow Run game is the Genesis one. It's basically like an open world action RPG back before those were common.

On that note, Satellite Reign is pretty close to the mundane part of the setting too.

seconding CKF, great game with some really neat ideas. One of the few games that managed to balance stealth/combat aspect of heists.
don't think they had laser whips when I played but they might add them eventually, the game gets weekly updates and they recently reached update #100. Adding modding support soon, too.
