It's Japanese's fault for only having 8 words in its whole language. Then the rest are just people's names.
>>
>>747682387
rare case of localizers actually having soul
>>
>>747682506
If that was the case, then all that stuff the localization added would still not be accurate.

Ashamed by how these trolls got me. If YOU had any soul, you'd understand that the exposition in the localisation is redundant.

Localization is the only industry I'm overjoyed to see being replaced by AI.

You must understand the localizers have to believe and LARP that they are just as smart and competent as their JP betters otherwise they'll be shitcanned with cause for acting out of line

The remake of Dragon Quest II is so damn good. Then you get to the mermaid part...
>>

haven't gotten around to the 3 remake yet, what's wrong with the mermaid part?

Was this localized by right wing conservatoids?

It's actually interest how Japanese doesn't have pronouns. No wonder crossdressing and trans ideology is more flexible there.

At least in the case of FF14 Koji states they don't actually read the English. The Japanese side doesn't. It gets translated back into Japanese. So potential for foul play obviously. And he mentions trying to sneak stuff in, that could just be standard at Square.

you can really feel the contempt for the audience localizers have when they make shit blatantly painful to read like this. Charlotte's dialogue in Trials of Mana was similarly painful to look at.

And that was light compared to the DQ stuff. Her dialect would have been like a whole town and 20 hours of dialogue in a DQ game.

Despite their language having only 5 vowel sounds, rhyming has never been much of a thing in Japanese.
>>
>>747693051
Japanese rarely ever rhyme anything. Because it's so easy in their language. Just normal dialogue will rhyme 20% of time. Don't do it much in songs either unless they're trying to imitate western music.

In all the places where mermaids appear in Dragon Quest games, they have voiced lines. And you can hear they're clearly not rhyming. But it's not just the rhyming that's bad. The English localization insists they have to speak like fairy tale rhymes, where you have pairs of rhymes in two sentences, where the last word in the second sentence rhymes with the last word in the first sentence. This means they have to add more dialogue that wasn't there in the original.

The original Japanese will be something like: "I'll take you to the mermaid village."

The English will then change it to:
"Hark upon me, my newfound friends. Let us away, to my kindmens dens."

>>747692856
>he played with JP audio
that's what you get, Ken-sama. Charlotte's dialog is perfectly intelligible with EN audio

The tone of that article confused the fuck out of me because I read it as a condemnation of trannylations, but it was actually a trannylator defending himself.

It isn't as ubiquitous as in western music but it's still very common.
