>"Uhh we want this game to feel like a movie... there's nothing wrong with that..."

Except in a movie you would never see a boring 40 second shot of just a running guy's back, a movie has dynamic angles and shots, every second it looks entirely different. Here you are literally holding down one button and looking at a guy's back for 40 seconds while nothing else is happening.

blame kojima
he started the genre with mgs1 when he admitted he wanted it to be a 'movie you play'

horrible animation cuts and jumps

but it really makes me FEEL like wolverine

Are you blind?

except Kojima's cutscenes actually feel like movies
>>
Yea I hate shit like this when I have no agency and I'm just forced to act out a cutscene. I agree feels pointless at the very least the game devs could design a good looking scene but nope have me run after some stiff as hell NPC and if I get too close he turns on the nox and speeds away before slowing back down again so I keep chasing him.
Fucking ass man, there's no way normies get into this shit.

What movies have you been watching that are filled with exposition presented in needlessly complicated ways?

Not him but first thing that came to mind.
Kojima really is a visionary.

You are forgetting about the entire early nineties and FMV games which were LIKE A MOVE ZOMG!

>dynamic angles and shots
is there a game that does this in normal gameplay?
Like driving around with the cinematic camera in a GTA game, but that's the intended experience. I imagine it would be disorienting at first but could be cool for a 3D beat em up or something if it's not too obnoxious, like it just mostly happens at room transitions or to accentuate a character talking or boss phase transition or whatever.

Fixed camera angles

oh yeah, duh. Any you'd recommend for being particularly good "cinematography"? Or like are there any in an action game that go really crazy?

Why is he leaving a trail of red fard behind him?

just make a movie then cunt I dont want to play this
>>

Outside of fixed camera games, both The Evil Within games try some really nice things with quick cuts and editing in real time. Quite amazing what 2 in particular managed to achieve on HDD based systems with shitty CPUs. Instant transitions between completely different environments in quick succession.
