In Fates this is especially true because wary fighter eliminates the need for a speed stat, since most enemies aren't carrying hammers or armorslayers they should be dealing low amounts of damage while your unit can retaliate with a meaty hit, maybe one shotting if the unit they're facing is squishy but most likely softening them up to let fragile units sweep them in player phase. It's the same thing as a unit suffering from success by critting a bunch on enemy phase and dying as a result, they're doing something that's good but doing it too well which is leading to a negative outcome. And by not seeing enemy phase combat they're getting less xp.

Ignoring how inevitable end changes the enemy AI, using chapter 23 for example the snipers on there all have 25 strength and are using either silver/steel or dual yumis, so around 43/38 attack. Even Benny would have a hard time reaching that defense on his own by that point, he'd need a pair up or tonic. It doesn't come up often that a unit is too tanky, but when it does happen it's annoying.

A Corrin pair up is a given since Corrin is force deployed, but beyond that does the unit need forges, extra stat boosters, do they face shaky hit rates, do they need to class jump mid-chapter to have specific stats.
