We have to go back to Ragol.
>>
This is one of few mmos i haven't tried or ever looked into. What does it actually play like? Is this action combat or ff11 menu slop?
>>
>>747776902
It's a rhythm game.
>>
it is still supremely janky, though

just was in a group of 4 and we couldn't beat the _first_ quest because stuff is missing or not working left and right
>>
>>747777961
talking about this

https://psoreborn.com/
>>
>>747778889
Tell me the truth, is it AI generated?

Neat, what exactly is this? A browser version? AI like the other guy said? I'll have to fully try it out later when I'm more awake.
>>
>>747780685
Of course it is.
>>
>>747776902
Play ephinea instead.
The culture of the game is still alive and active there along with events and years of bug fixes.
You can play it on a toaster and there's plenty of optional QoL upgrades to the game.
It's been the defacto way to play PSO for a long time. It's already been solved.
Why start over on bug fixes and moderation to play on a janky browser port?
>Phone
But why? This game would be ASS on a phone.
It's cool there's a resurgence in interest in PSO though, real PSO anyway. (PSO2 a shit)
>>
>>747781391
PSO2 was fine until Ep4
>>
>>747781251
yeah it's PSO in browser with working multiplayer. super buggy though
>>747781251
don't know, but i heavily suspect it. just look at that change log formatting
>>
>>747776836
God this game was so fucking boring.
I appreciate it's a dreamcast game.
But 4 maps? That's the entire fucking game? 4 maps? And you do them on loop for 200 fucking levels?
>>
>>747781430
I really enjoy base PSO2. I hate NGS. Do people still play base PSO2?
>>
>>747781531
You needed more?
>>
>>747782019
Yeah, sorry.
I thought PSU was quite good.
>>
>>747778889
Kinda neat, but there's no good reason to use this when Ephinea exists
>>
>>747776902
It's basically a Diablo clone but made for gamepad and with a 3D ground-level camera instead of isometric. So action, but a bit slower to accommodate dial-up ping.

>>747781531
>>747782019
It's 10 areas, actually. Counting separate floors/tilesets, it's 28, and the actual layouts vary from quest to quest.
>>
>>747782113
If you include Episode 2 and 4 it's even more.
>>
>>747776902
it's not a mmo it's a coop action-jrpg
>>
Is there really not much more to melee combat than standing infront of an enemy and trading hits until someone dies? It seems like being able to kite with range is much more powerful
>>
>>747784726
>trading hit
You swing twice, then walk away so they whiff their attack. Reset, swing twice again. Repeat forever.
And you also found out the reason why everyone uses guns once they get to ultimate. Because yes, it is better to just kite with range.
>>
>>747784726
you can kite on melee, but it takes a small bit of mastering jank. you can melee something before the targeting cursor pops up, as long as your attack animation moves you forward enough into hit range
a max range melee and enemy stagger will allow you to kite, the problem is enemy movespeed and lack of stagger on higher difficulties. mage nuking is nice because it reliably staggers them if you dont have a cast to use ice traps or someone with the needle
>>
>>747783043
Episode 2 and 4 were both terrible. I just stayed in the og areas.
>>
>>747785085
>episode 2 was terrible
I am so sorry for your shit tastes. episode 2 is absolute kino
>>
>>747785160
uhh no way fag
>>
>>747781558
i recently grinded base pso2 and ng to finally earn an opinion
I really like the ultra classes when you hit lvl 70 on 2 classes, its completely retarded that these are locked away behind such a grind because they are simply fun

NG has absolutely zero point to playing it and it felt so fucking bad to have the game over level on purpose to just rush me through the story. its such a slog and it makes me wonder why its more active than base pso2

Attack speed boost makes using melee without eating shit much easier, just don't commit to all three hits of the combo every time.

Why is everyone talking about this recently? It's not just here. I love PSO, and I've been playing since the GCN days, but this isn't normal for this game.
>>
>>747782104
>but there's no good reason to use this when Ephinea exists

i mean, it is 1000 times more accessible. no install, no extra bullshit if you're on linux. not even a login if you're playing offline

currently trying to get ephinea to run. already had to use some guys script and currently waiting for the dumb confirmation mail for account completion and it's not coming :|

on psoreborn, you're in-game in seconds
>>
>>747785312
This should be loved by /v/ since so many complain about parryslop/rollslop/blockslop
>>
>>747785085
Dude they improved on episode 1 in every way conceivable.
>>
Gunmetal Gothic feels a lot like PSO

only a demo for now but it's fun
>>
>>747784726
It depends on the enemy. For example, the basic 1-2-backstep works for the booma reskins, but the praying mantises you have to strafe around to stay on their back, and the gorilla's punches are pretty finnicky to dodge so IIRC you want to bait the fireball and get under their armpit. Eventually you need to mix up different weapon types on the fly like the partisan which is vital for its AoE and twin swords for its speed and double strike.

Is it really a bad idea to play force for a first character? I can't get over this guy
>>
>>747785271
I agree the level gating was awful, but I dislike what they did to the game balance too. Since they're all masters-of-all and easier to pilot than the standard classes it basically eliminates team play, homogenizing battle into different flavors of solo character action occurring in the same room by happenstance. They could've just removed Hero after Episode V was such a disaster, but I guess they decided the die was cast and just tried to bandage up the problem.
>>
>>747786294
It's a rockier road to begin with. Weapon attacks are hardly worth shit, you don't have access to demon's special to compensate until waaay later, and fluids are pretty expensive when you're on newbie income. Forces are cool tho and high level buffs/debuffs are busted especially in party play. Ep4 is also your bitch. Make sure you check the item shop for tech upgrades every time you visit, feed your mag to focus mind so you can learn higher level techs earlier.
>>
>>747786294
Nah he's OP as fuck, top 2 with RAcast. Potions will eat your meseta though, but not as badly as for FOnewearl. FOmar and FOmarl start way slower because of their dogshit ATA and ATP respectively.
>>
>>747780685
there's definitely some jank so maybe? but it could just be a result of being converted to a damn browser
>>
Gentlemen, how do fix elemental specials being the utter fucking worthless drop-pool-bloating DOGSHIT that they are?
>>
>>747776902
Not really an MMO(just like PSO2 isn't really an MMO) and the gameplay filters a ton of people because you can't button mash and there is practically no input buffering on combos. Unless you're playing a Force spamming techs you need to get good at timed button presses and understanding the animation speed and animation lock for your class(every individual class has different animations or animation speeds so the way you can approach combat with every one is slightly different.)
>>
>>747786294
Force is the canonical way to play PSO. Don't buy into the HUfag propaganda.
>>
>>747785421
I genuinely do enjoy PSO's combat more than a lot of more modern games because it's all about positioning, timing and learning when it's safe to commit and when you should back off. Almost every modern game is just a variation of
>button mash through combos
>press dodge/parry button just before an attack
>resume button mashing through combos
