Ok so to the book people discussing - I genuinely think its really odd HOW MUCH is taken out of L'etranger. Meursault not caring about his mother's death in the way that people expect, and his murder of a man are two extremely separate things that are very central to the story to remain separate. One of the entire points of the book is that people were judging him more for one than the other. Making him a matricide is a complete butchery of the ideas of the book - why even have him be Meursault at all?
