Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West are now no longer able to be purchased on Steam in the UK. The issue has also affected Watch Dogs Legion, which cannot be purchased in the UK either. All games can still be purchased on console in the UK just fine, the issue is only affecting Steam. Sony has responded confirming the issue is not intentional on their end and is caused by Steam. Why does Valve have such a vendetta against British users? Is this more "malicious compliance" where they just revoke access to us rather than adapt to local laws?
Valve are known scammers who commit false advertising and fraud and can go fuck themselves.Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
pclards need to make some space for true pc exclusives
Doesn't surprise meSony accidentally banned hundreds of countries last time with HD2
>INB4 Valve fanboys make up another shitty excuse
Works for me, try not living in the (c)U(c)K
>>747889648Read the OP thread and article. It's not Sony's doing. This is entirely on Valve. They implemented some new measure which has blocked Helldivers 2, Horizon FW, and Watch Dogs Legion (which is a Ubisoft game, not Sony) from purchase ONLY in the UK and ONLY on Steam. My bet is on there being some minor weird thing in these three games which requires age verification for some reason, and rather than implement a small fix for it like consoles have done, Valve just threw their hands up and blocked them in the UK entirely.
>>747889520"can't be purchased" has a different semantic meaning from "revoked". Also playstation has mandatory system level age verification, so maybe that's why it's still fine.
>>747889520The parallels between Super Earth governance and YooKay governance were becoming too overt
>>747889779Valve already has a system in place for UK ID verification so that doesn't make sense.
>>747889864Are the people trying to buy those games on Steam age verified though?
>>747889520You'd think the article would focus more on Sony's massive hit brand Horizon™ instead of some no-named who game.Oh well, that's incompetent journalists for ya, they just don't play games.
>>747889864The system is implemented in the laziest, most ham-fisted way. You have to have a credit card registered as the main payment method on your Steam account to be counted as age verified. The moment you remove it, Steam considers you as underage again. There are also some things you cannot age-verify for. For instance, UK users cannot access the community hubs or forums for pornographic games on Steam no matter what, even if you have a credit card registered to your account, it still blocks you.Probably there is some minor tiny thing in each of these 3 games that requires a more sophisticated age verification system than "just have a credit card attached to your account", and rather than fix it, Valve just blocked UK users from buying them instead.
>>747889520BazedFuck sony
>>747889678It's your government doing thisMaybe do something about it?
How's "Digital Ownership" Treating you people Now?
>>747890515It doesn't matter what we do because the government won't listen anyway. We protest, get angry, write letters to MPs etc and they just insult as and say we're "paedophiles" for not supporting age ID. We can't vote against it because boomers and normalfags who don't know anything about technology don't care, and they outnumber us and will keep voting for authoritarian parties anyway. We can't do anything more drastic because the UK treats disobedience to the state as the #1 most evil thing you can do and will destroy your entire life imprisoning you for years if you so much as post a violent tweet online. And Valve are making it worse by deliberately choosing to put in zero effort to adapting to these laws and punishing innocent civilians who never even voted for the laws. What are they gonna do when similar laws inevitably get passed in the EU and in more and more US states? Will they change their tune when its a larger audience being affected, or will they keep stubbornly cutting off more and more of their userbase out of malicious compliance?
>>747889520Sorry I'm not living in a totalitarian shithole that larps as being part of Arabia
>>747889602i think i will buy a game off of steam now
>>747890770This has nothing to do with "digital ownership". The government is perfectly capable of making ownership of physical goods illegal too.
>>747889602artifact sucked though
>>747889520They're actually trying to protect Britain by making it so they don't have anyone tempted to play dogshit like Helldivers 2.
Can't spell Cuck withouy the UK
Valve already said it's just a bug they're working to fix. Probably had something to do with verification shit relating specifically to UK's meme draconian laws.
>>747889779>Watch Dogs Legion (which is a Ubisoft game, not Sony) from purchase ONLY in the UK and ONLY on Steam.that one is funny considering what the game is about. But can someone from the UK with a console check if they can purchase it? Because I won't be surprised if they ban the game altogether.
>>747889520oi you gotta loicense for that gaas slop?
>>747890865>It doesn't matter what we do because the government won't listen anyway.Hmmm.... if only there were things other than words...Welp, enjoy the boot I guess.
>>747890770You can't purchase it. If you already had it, you still have it and can play the game. Did you even read the article or are you too retarded for that?
>>747892336Anti-steamfags have no idea how steam actually works. They think when a game is delisted, Valve pushes buttons and your library is deleted. Because they're consolefags and that's literally how companies like Sony operate.
>>747889520>UKI think they have bigger concerns than being able to purchase sony games
>>747892576You'd think they would do 5 seconds of research before opening their mouths. Alas, I expect too much of the group that has unironically claimed that "GOG games are DRM because they require a PC to run."
>>747889520The west... has been forbidden
>>747892068>DUDE just try to overthrow the government and destroy your entire life and go to prison or else you're a pussy! Why do Ameritards always talk tough like this but then you never do it yourself either, despite you all having guns?
>>747893373We have elections that work. I got what I voted for.
>>747891950>Nigel Class
What the fuck is happening in the UK? Do they even have prime minister?
>>747892576>They think when a game is delisted, Valve pushes buttons and your library is deleted. Not like they do it but yes valve just has to delete a single line in their database and your account would be gone.
>>747895252And how does that affect the games on my hard drive?
>>747895252OK? But that has never happened, and never will. Do you know what the consequences of Steam falling apart would be? People would just (rightfully) pirate all their games back.
Based Sony knows they build such a loyal fanbase that eclipses everybody else's that at this point is running circles in the last half mile of the marathon to see if Xbox can get up from mile 2 and catch up a little.
>>747893832>elections that work> blatant mail in ballot fraud> electronic voting machine that have no purpose other than to be hacked> no id required to vote> obvious statistical voting anomalies every election> a suspiciously close 50:50 vote every election, just enough to be tipped either way by minimal fraud> election 'fortification'kek the entire US system is about which side can cheat the best
>>747893832>We have elections that work. Let see who is saying that Nov 4th
>>747895751Well it won't be the UK.
>>747890865General labor strike
>>747895804Doesn't it run under 'privilege' instead of 'right' there anyway?
>>747894074i live here and i have no idea any more after that period where we went through them weekly
The funny thing is, since the UK left the EU they literally have no buyer protection laws and nothing to bargain with against a corporation as big as Valve.Valve could literally force install bitcoin miners on every single UK Steam user's machine and it would be completely legal with nothing they could do.
>Imagine being british for just a secondI dont know how they do it
>>747889520Guess Snoy didn't have the proper loicence to sell games in the UK...
>>747890865in 1776 we protested what the bongoloid government was doing and it worked out. you just aren't trying hard enough.
>>747895725Proof?
>>747890865>And Valve are making it worse by deliberately choosing to put in zero effort to adapting to these laws and punishing innocent civilians who never even voted for the laws. It's not punishment, it's refusing to bend the knee. Valve doesn't give a fuck about "punishing" you. Move out of the UK if you're that bent about it.

>>747895725This>>747898412In 2012, in Brazil out of all places, we had some IT dudes take a crack at urns in the form of a Public Safety Test. At the end of it, they discovered that not only they easily hackable, but ALL OF THEM had basically the same encryption password, so if you cracked one, you cracked the rest.Elections still proceeded "as normal" after the fact. The US uses the very same urns from the "main guys". The urns we use in Brazil are the Smarmatic ones, and Smarmatic is owned by an UK company, and that UK company provides the urns to the US.
>>747889520yes, Valve did it. Surely it wasn't your shitty government who keeps importing 3rd world shitters then complaining that you don't want them to spy on you and rape your mother sister and daughter.
>>747890770Great. I dont live in the Islamic Caliphate Of Britainistan
Our good old governments will never admit why but this sudden severe push for online ID is because they lost control over the internet to AI powered botfarmsit's estimated 60% of traffic online this year has come from bots. This is not a america vs europe thing anymore, all the western governments are in on it, europe will probably fold first and force it.
>Snoy does something retarded>Blame volvo*Yawn*
>>747901971I blame UK

Yes, it's a problem dems have enough power to block anti-cheat regulations, but even their cheating could stop a second Trump presidency.
>>747889520>Watch Dogs Legionkek I'm sure the UK was champing at the bit to ban that game. Can't let the goyim get any funny ideas, now
>>747889520>for no reasonUK is run by pedophiles and requires ID to use PSN Any product linked with PSN has to be pulled because you get fucking fined by the UK government for violating their retarded laws you drooling retardAnd no, a company like Valve cant "just ignore them" because it has to operate a business in the region with a local office. 4th channel can ignore them for as long as it takes the UK to extradite hiro for trial (never btw)
>>747905359JIDF or ai, call it
>>747890865You should be thanking Valve. Maybe when your videogames are gone you wont have anything distracting you from standing up for yourself
>>747889520>Why does Valve have such a vendetta against British users? Is this more "malicious compliance" where they just revoke access to us rather than adapt to local laws?Based Gaben, I should give him more money for another yacht. At this point I'd like to live in a world where the UK, Germany and Australia are walled off from the rest of the world like China.
>>747890865>It doesn't matter what we do because the government won't listen anyway. We protest, get angry, write letters to MPs etc and they just insult as and say we're "paedophiles" for not supporting age IDSo keep trying, that's how change happensIt's not easy and it doesn't always work, but taking action has a slight chance to build momentum and lead to change, wheras giving up has a 0% chance of working.Progress doesn't happen overnight, everything you take for granted as a successful regulation or a right that won you freedom from regulation was something people worked tirelessly to achieve against opposition.
>>747905740You'd be wrong either way. Why do you want terrorist shitheads to have nukes? I don't.

>>747906270Covert to islam and take a selfie outside a gay club. Im serious. Thats all it takes to get UK citizenship.
>>747905861>Is this more "malicious compliance" where they just revoke access to us rather than adapt to local laws? That's what the UK and EU wants. They say "Don't like it? Good luck surviving without us as customers! HAHHAHAHA!" And then American companies pull out of the continent because they make up less than 1% of the company's revenue and removing the content they object to would lose them even more customers in the rest of the world.Europe is completely irrelevant on the global scale.
