You might try the pictos that makes it so a character gains AP on taking damage then pair it with a weapon that has DEF/HP scale and do so memey shit for a bit. The moves, pictos, and weapons you choose are a lot more varried, and it does a lot to stop every fight from feeling like you just have to choose and exploit elemental weakness then do next fight. I do say that all the journos who blow the game down probably never did act 3 content outside of the character stories and final boss. That shit is so obscenely overtuned that pretty much every character is running the same 2 or 3 pictos and every engagement is playing out almost exactally the same to maximize damage to get through that shit. Fuck Act 3, it's boring as fuck and goes all in on the worst parts of the parry slop meme while the RPG building part falls to bits. Enjoy only using Mallell, Verso, Sciel fire style.
JRPGs have been copypasting the same story since the 80's. They made one that didn't have that story and people were impressed because it felt fresh.
