Like, as fun as it was to just casually use AK on everything in the endgame, it does make you feel like you're playing a sociopath given how that spell is meant to work

A neat implementation could be that AK at first only works on like one or 2 characters who are so abhorrent you can actually bring up the will to kill them, but the more you use it, the easier it gets to use it on various enemies, and eventually you hit the point where you can start to "grind" new unlocks, killing people for the sole sake of training yourself to kill more people, which would be the sort of turning point where you're locked into dark wizard mode

Using dark magic should slip you into a thirst for power mode where you become a dark wizard, using in front of good aligned characters should impact your relationship with them, getting to the point aurora are going after you.

Instead everyone just ignores the fact you're casting instant death spells at people, where as Sebastian looking for it is treated like if you don't send him to azkabhan then it's game over.
Really weird to decisions to give the spells but totally neutralize the consequence of using them.

which is a shame because given the whole ancient magic theme, Ravenclaw could have offered the unique perspective of actually trying to understand the magic rather than just deciding how to use it

As I understand it this is basically like 50% of what the Ministry does. I remember in Half-Blood Prince there's a scene where the Minister of Magic introduces himself to the new Muggle Prime Minister to kind of explain what's going on and how basically every freak accident that's hit Britain in the past year is a result of their war with Voldemort, and they've been working around the clock to keep it all quiet.

Actually now that I think about it, I might be giving Rowling too much credit but this might explain why they get absolutely bodied by Voldemort so easily, despite the fact that his entire "army" is roughly 30 dudes in black KKK outfits.

Can't talk with students, can't emote with them. Can't do anything in Hogwarts besides walk around and watch things happen.
