I genuinely hate RPGs like Pathfinder because there's too many options.When there are this many options, the game is going to have a specific meta the developers are basing everything on, which means I can't just pick whatever the fuck I want but I need to stick to a specific gimmick using a guide or hoping that it isn't underwhelming and bullshit.I'd rather have way less options that are more carefully balanced (and more mechanically diverse) than having a bajillion combinations and only a dozen or so being relevant.Take something like Caves of Qud, where you don't have infinite options, yet each option is relevant in its own way, there is no "bad choice" unless you objectively do stupid things, like getting skilled in swords but using axes.If you want to be more elitist, let's go back to Baldur's Gate 2, where the magic items and the class advancements were much more important: you didn't have to pick 30 specific feats as a Fighter to make Fighter works nor you needed to pick a subclass of wizard with history as an urchin and a second degree in nose picking (for that sweet sweet +1 to initiative) to be a relevant wizard.It's too many options that mean nothing, too many feats that you must take because this feat unlocks that feat that allows that spell which is necessary for that fight.It's just so boring to me, excuse the food analogy but it's like having a bag full of candy with all the visible hues of colors a human eye can perceive and yet it's all sugar without extra flavors.

Pathfinder was designed to be D&D 3.5 ruleset but with extra hyper-autism character building. like it tosses roleplay sense away to focus entirely on the combat system while D&D went the other way and really stripped combat down to let Critical Role theater kids play-act instead.
