This is still an unworthy "remake" even if the upcoming one looks even worse. It casualized almost every dungeon from the very first one>jump through spiderweb is now scripted, the game controls Link for you and you can no longer miss the centerto the hardest one>game now spoils the entrance to the basement with the camera literally zooming in on it for five seconds, many smaller changes like the bombable wall being obvious nowbesides ruining the whole directing and composition of some cutscenes, more censorship and cheap looking colors and lightingCharacter design on the other hand is decent and respects the original artworks, unlike the upcoming remake
that there are still tendies who haven't developed a feel for Nintendo games being outsourced and still don't care after all these half-assed remasters is insane.
>>748118991The piss color grading completely kills this iconic shot.
>>748118991I was talking to my friend about this the other day.I know the sheika stones playing you videos is new.But did the old game have deku scrubs selling you items in it?like a random deku scrub in jabu jabu belly and dodongo cavern?
At the very least we have this mod which helps the lighting a bithttps://gamebanana.com/mods/657902
>>748119608>I know the sheika stones playing you videos is new.It even has shit like that? Nutendo is real
>>748118991The credit alone is awful looking. Like when modders insert their name into a romhack.
The original is always the superior and intended experience, always.>b-but what about-Always.
If a blind man can beat the original there was no reason to make any major changes besides combat
>>748120952>a blind man can beat the originalhow would that work unless he already knows the game inside out or just tried for 10000 hours?
>>748121213>left: unapologetically retro and trippy>right: genericalso cherrypicking a literally unfinished dungeon
>>748121550>remaster gets to finish up some unfinished things>this is somehow bad and also an attack on the originalbased retard
>>748118991i fucking hate all of the character models, every single one
>>748118991It casualized it in ways even most fans won't notice, like making the squares with the spiders white, making their shadows impossible to miss.
>>748121682If you think the textures or color theory on the right are better, you're a certified philistine. The N64 game's texture work on the rocks around the ranch is so good that it even mimics the way light catches the upper portions while remaining ambiguous enough to look like earth, grass, or trees in your peripheral vision. It's masterclass vs. minimum effort.
>>748121682right looks tiny for some reason
>>748119608im pretty sure it did? thats a really common thing in the 90s-early 00s zelda
>>748121624literally Cloud's hair and clothes. Or should I say Samuel's?
>>748122058Counterpoint: left is a 2D wall while right is an actual stepped cliff. Fluff up the texture work all you like the wall is still ugly as shit
>>748119608yes there were always deku merchants
>>748122058holy dog ass i cant imagine how bad MM vs MM3D is
>>748122289In terms of visuals I think they actually tried a bit harder with MM3D but apparently they fucked up some gameplay.
>>748121682>can spot the radioactive cancer water from a mile away despite it being 2 pixels wide
>>748118991>>game now spoils the entrance to the basement with the camera literally zooming in on it for five secondsit's true kek it's like those candles in wind waker. what is the point of a puzzle when you spoil it?
>>748122214You're replying to a bot.
>>748118991Idk I never saw it as some kind of replacement or some big budget remake attempt, it was just neat to have the game on a handheld
>the upcoming one looks even worse. No one thinks that, sw2 remake look fucking detailed and great, only a faggot zoomer who wasn't there in '98 would complain like that.
>>748122571I'm not against changing the gameplay in principle, but they did fuck it up.
>>748118991>This is still an unworthy "remake"Well that's because it's a remaster.
>>748122784Just saw a streamer get completely filtered by this part of the N64 game, to the point that he called it a night and started his next stream when he was already in the boss room.
>>748123501Nintendo calls it a remake.
>>748120847i'm sure there are a few exceptions at least. what about dragon quest 5 on snes?
>>748123473>No one thinks thatLiterally everyone thinks that and clowned on the Direct.
>>748120764Its entirely optional.
>>748123501>Well that's because it's a remaster. So is the Switch 2 one, that's why they are unworthy and because they're outsourced trash
>>748124371Then the challenge is optional as well i.e. not a wall you have to overcome but a wall you decide to climb. Might as well implement a fast forward autoplay button
I get that they want to bring Ocarina of Time to the youth of today but incorporating all those BotW/TotK elements was the wrong way to go about it. Most of the games charm is its aesthetics, not just the story. One of the reasons why I stopped playing botw so soon was because I didnt like the complete lack of soul. Adding voice acting was a terrible decision. Like that cutscene where Saria tells Link we'll always be friends, the voice acting just takes the seriousness and emotion out of the scene completely. Sigh...imagine the world we couldve had without jews.
>>748125008>I get that they want to bring Ocarina of Time to the youth of todaythey just want to make some easy money
>>748125008>but incorporating all those BotW/TotK elements was the wrong way to go about it.I have a feeling most of this comes from younger developers than Aonuma or Fujibayashi who have been up and coming in the Zelda team, who kind of "own" the BotW design, and push it on every other project they're involved in. I remember that one of the "rockstars" if you will, for BotW's development was the Technical Director who previously led the tech on Wii Sports Resort or something. And so much of the physics oriented and systematization slop was attributed to his way of managing the project. I wouldn't be surprised if he's also involved with coding the UI and that's typically how stuff like this starts to erode a franchise. There's someone who's ilke "No we need the same structure behind the scenes for this and that" and then they keep the same overall design across numerous games.
>>748123892Doesn't even look like a goron anymore
>>748123713No they don't.
>>748125008>the voice acting just takes the seriousness and emotion out of the scene completelyEspecially since OoT’s text is paced like actual dialogue, like reading a book where your imagination fills in the gaps.
>>748125463>inb4 I was just pretending to be retardedhttps://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/3ds/zelda-ocarina-of-time/4/5/
>>748125558Well then, I stand corrected. Weird. I'd have thought them giving Grezzo the og source code to build off of would be considered a remaster since it's kept most of the glitches.
>>748118991autism on my part but something about his version that always puts me off is how stupid those black overworld plants look with their roots seemingly hovering above the ground (i know they are based on plants that actually look like that and there is something similar in the 64 version but still )
>>748120847Because they only remake games that are already great the way they are. They could easily remake flawed games and improve them but all they want is money.
>>748122571idk how anyone else feels about it but i honestly dont like the change they made to the final hours visuals in 3d where the sky turns red. maybe its blatantly scarier or cooler to some people but it just feels like its trying too hard imo. in the original the sky stayed the same like time was still trying to move on like always and it ends with the morning sky about to come in like usual even with the moon right about to crash. it just feels more kino to me that way
>>748125989Beautiful
>>748126145It's the same with movies for the most part. Remakes like the Thing (which I don't even really think that counts as a remake since it's so different), are rare. Most are like the Robocop remake from the 2010s
>>748125989I don't like that they made Kakariko look brown and arid.>it's close to a volcano so it must be!No.
honestly when i play these zelda games i dont find them special. they seem entirely carried by releasing back when they had almost no competition and the genre was very sparse. There are some 1990-2000s games that remain special to this day. But if these old zeldas came out today they would be a large flop
>>748127191>But if these old zeldas came out today they would be a large flopOoT3D sold 7M copies and became the highest rated 3DS game, snoygoy.
>>748121079Good sound design
>>748119080They're just masters of mental gymnastics. They fact that they are sitting there and defending the look of the remake after spending over a decade decrying and lambasting every hyper realistic remake or fan project is just an incredible display of hypocrisy. Nintendo will also in the near future go digital only and they'll lap it up even though they're currently mocking Sony for doing it.
>>748118991>>jump through spiderweb is now scripted, the game controls Link for you and you can no longer miss the centerWait what?
>>748119207Soul.
>jump through spiderweb scriptedaww, ill never forget figuring out how to get down there the first timei felt like such a genius
>>748122784>>748123585I replayed oot for the first time since 1998 this year, and I could not believe how retardedly overblown the complaints of the water temple are. Yes, the boots are bullshit and about a third of that temple is in the fucking menu, but the rest of it was good, and that particular moment was actually fairly obvious because when you enter the water temple from the lowest accessible door, you can friggin see that somethign weird is going on down there, I cant recall what it was, but I remember (having completely forgotten about the room at all) going "huh, whats that?"
>>748127770>Yes, the boots are bullshit and about a third of that temple is in the fucking menuthat's actually overblown as well. you only need to equip them6>66times if you know what you're doing. more than that if you get lost and refuse to use farore's wind, which is a deserved punishment
>>748122289MM3D is so amazing visuallyshame that guys imgur album with screenshots for every location is gone foreverI really should have saved itThey put so much soul into the visuals and really made it a distinct land from hyrule except the astral observatory dunno what the fuck happened there
I think most of the complaints about the Iron Boots come from people who played the GC port or emulated it back then, both of which had obnoxious pause-screen lag.
>>748127903Still not fun and still doesn't excuse the tedium of opening and closing the menu.
>>748127903>you only need to equip them 6 times if you're speedrunning tranny like me!!!
>>748128107not all fun in games is about bing bing whaoo and comboing enemies while doing 50 backflips. being able to equip something that actually makes you sink to the bottom like a real piece of metal and feeling and hearing the weight of it when you move and getting that feeling of doing something people normally aren't supposed to is fun >tedium of opening and closing the menu.literally 3 seconds>>748128174i counted it on my casual run and i don't even use tricks like farore's wind at entrance or resetting console to respawn (i just use farore's wind for the rooms where you can change water level)
>>748126213Reminds of Dragon's Dogma endgame>h-hey, let's make the game world ugly now!Never understood this
>>748122129Actually good use of distance fog in the original.
>>748127770I've played it 3 times in my life. Once as a kid, where gave up at the Spirit Temple because I was a pussy and afraid of progressing past the iron knuckle for some reason, once as an adult where I went through it step by step following walkthrough videos, and then again a few years later by myself. I got stuck on that key in the middle room because I guess I wasnt paying attention during the cutscene. So I spent hours retracing my steps, changing the water height constantly, checking every room I could, until I gave up and looked it up and realised where Id went wrong. Call me retarded but I dont know if I wouldve figured it out on my own if I kept trying. I genuinely thought Id run into a game breaking glitch.
The original looks like a soijak lmao. Uncs are so retarded.
>>748128407>Hurr durr if you don't like opening and closing the menu several times to use the boots then you have ADHD you just need to git gudNot an argument and still not an excuse, tranny. Just because you play in an unorthodox way doesn't make it not a problem. A first time player's not as autistic as you.
>>748122058I will take bland 3D model vs floating textures and pre rendered backgrounds any day on my 3D game. Ocarina is full of them and it dated the game visually a lot compared to Mario 64 where its not nearly as prevalent.
>>748129096it looks legit smaller though, did anyone ever compare?
>>748129490the 2011 looks like a basedjak, 2026 probably will too. gtfo with that wannabe shitmake made by third worlders
>>748129107Yeah thats what happened to most people except "people" on /v/ because /v/ attracts very very special "people"
>>748129556>then you have ADHD you just need to git guddidn't say that but glad you are thinking it>Just because you play in an unorthodox wayi don't>A first time player's not as autistic as you.their faultdunno why you are mad about this
>>748129107>Call me retardedNah I got stuck on it too when I was a kid without a guide. You can kinda see the tunnel when the water rises, but it's a very "blink and you'll miss it" kind of subtle. The map also shows there's another floor which is another hint, but I never bothered using maps nor did I find them very useful.I've been watching a lot of streamers play oot for the first time and this seems to be atypical behavior when playing this and MM of not experimenting with your items/songs, talking to NPCs and whatever else then getting lost on what to do because of how cryptic the game can be sometimes as well as the inconsistency with the puzzle design between each dungeon. I can't recall how I figured out most of the game as a kid because unless I learned some tricks from watching my friends play it, but it's been soon that the memories aren't vivd.
>>7481294901998 looks perfect2011 looks like hes laughing2026 looks woke. "we added fog" yeah because every other jewish run gaming studio adds fog to their games now. fucking cunts
>>748130045>didn't say that >not all fun in games is about bing bing whaoo and comboing enemies while doing 50 backflips>Translation: ADHDOk retard.>literally 3 secondsStill missing the point. Not saying your method isn't viable. Having it be a c-button item fixes the issue and Nintendo agrees with me on that with the 3DS version, as well as it being an option in romhacks for the og game prior to that, then it being an option in the PC port. I know criticism hurts, but you lost this one.
>>748122784>>>game now spoils the entrance to the basement with the camera literally zooming in on it for five secondsI recall the camera lingering on that in the original as well
>>748129640>I take ugly 3D over refined 2D any day of the week, nerd! That's some plebpinion
>>748123892Pig disgusting UE5 slop
>>748131091The original gives you a fair but not idiot-proof hint by subtly showing the platform during what otherwise looks like a generic water-level cutscene, not showing and literally zooming in on the corridor. There was no need to change that, but I’ve always thought OoT was an almost accidental masterpiece, similar to how The Lion King was just another movie to Disney with no intention of creating something generation-defining like they did.
>>748129490>2026I can't even see that one because of all the smoke. it's burning everywhere in that game I swear lmao
