But you can capture NPCs and break them and then they either run machines for you or you can have them fight for you. You can also just command them to stand around and dance and can dress them up however you like. Luke could have snuck in by himself. Han is their friend, so saving and protecting their friend is the priority, so why put all of your other friends at needless risk when you can do it yourself? In the scenario written, we’re supposed to believe this group of bumbling fools are capable of destroying the Empire an hour later? He did this again with Qui Gon in PM and the pod race. It’s this whole elaborate plan to gamble for the money and Anakin’s freedom, but he could have just mind controlled someone other than Watto to exchange credits for local currency and then bought everything he wanted from Watto.

Wertham was a psychiatrist, and thought that because most juvenile psychopaths he treated read comic books, their antisocial behavior must be partially caused by comic books. He ignored the fact that practically all American children read comic books. Funnily enough Wertham also had same arguments against TV programs, but by 1950s television had become so normalized that people just ignored his complaints about it. Wertham was also interesting figure in how he was a progressive liberal for his time about most things, but he just thought that comic books and TV programs instantly turn children evil.
