I bit the bullet earlier this year because even when I know I overspent it is going to get worse, I invested on 1440p@60fps and I'm ok with that.
>>
>>748250909
I kept the same budget I had from my old build at 1000-1500 and I'm fine with it, I haven't struggled at anything with 1440p/120fps target so far. The only thing I'm mildly pissed about was not jumping on a $100 4TB SSD price mistake
>>
>>748250140
The 5080 doesn't use the retarded power connector of the 4090/5090 so it should be fine unless you randomly find a defect with the card pushing it to its limit. The whole burn meme comes from the absurd power draw in a shit connection design that can easily be loose. Those cables run super nova and if it's loose at all you'll just end up blowing up both ends. It's not to say that it couldn't happen for a 5080, but it's highly unlikely and it would most probably be to due to user error.
>>
>>748251538
Most if not all 5080 use 12VHPWR/12V-2x6. You just don't hear them melting as much because 5080 doesn't use as much power. It can still happen but it's usually user error like poor connection or wires being bent awkwardly but 4090 and 5090 can still happen if the user does everything right.

>The 5080 doesn't use the retarded power connector of the 4090/5090

I'm in the process of planning my 2030 build, or at least figuring out what I intend to use. Have you guys been following the news? Several new manufacturers are nearing market debut. Personally, I'm interested in this one. Post yours!
>>
>>748254569
Great news. It's about time someone shoves their cock into the market and stops the cartel from raping us all
>>
>>748254679
I'm happy about it too. But it's not going to be cheap at first. I fully expect to pay anywhere between $4k-$10k for my next high end PC. But I'm prepared to eat those costs. I don't think the average PC gamer is ready for that. I'm noticing a good portion of younger gamers can't even afford to purchase a vehicle.

>>
>>748248681
You cannot force them to make more of a product, but you CAN punish them for colluding and manipulating the market like a literal cartel. Of course, the reason it doesn't happen is because they have billions of dollars to bribe you with.
>>
>>748255139
Should take that long, Lisuan Technology Company is pretty close to releasing a consumer GPU. You guys should just look shit up before you start dooming.
>>
>>748254569
I've personally been manufacturing the next stage in consumer graphics technology in my bedroom, just a lil side hustle heh. I've almost got the sand to turn into silicone, but I put the power stages on backwards so it's actually sending power back out of the card by mistake. I think I'm on track for a 2027 release
I have no real faith that some other small manufacturer is going to save the market, in fact i think that's wacky as fuck. If anyone it'll be the Chinese catching up over a decade

im not wrong and you know it for raster performance the 5070ti is behind the 9070xt why would you pay right now 3-500 and rising mind you more for a aislop filter when it is supposed to be upscailing and gain performance not reduce it by more than half and performance of PT in a very small amount of games

btw let us both pretend that the ai slop filter has not been ported to AMDs cards and is already working at 30fps with mods now but nobody fucking cares dude we just want our games at ultra with 100+ fps with and maybe RT i guess if you want your fucking puddles to have a reflection on them but other than that its all just bullshit to make game devs lazy as fuck you think UE game looks alike now just wait for this dogshit to go mainstream in studios and its within their engines itself all games will look alike

oh another thing because you keep making this a amd nvida thing, ps6 and xbox helix are both amd, they are both getting something similar to this which i hate and these games are going to be back ported to ps5 so regardless of the card this shit will be in games so can you shut the fuck up with your gay tranny tribalism i dont give a fuck if you want jensen to fuck your ass

The current growth of AI, and also the USA's economy, is largely IOU's now.
There is 0 way to recoup the costs of data centers especially with the ballooned price of hardware, the reason why they're going so hard for the sitting president is for the inevitable government bailout when it all collapses.

How many AI services are you subscribed to? How about your family, or friends assuming you have them?

No, dumbass.
It's not profitable for the data centers. If my data center costs tens of billions and only makes a few million a year off of services it's not going to make its money back.

This is the exact same reason why you don't see private nuclear power plant construction by utilities companies, the cost of construction can never be recovered from the services provided.
Ergo, cozy up to government for bailout when people realize your industry is not actually trillions of dollars and your services still require human oversight because it's laden with errors.

Are you a retard? There's plenty of companies that have designed/build small scale nuclear, but the US doesn't allow them to build here, so it's all in China. Most things grow in this way. Look at amazon with it's freight delivery, they flooded the market with their cheap service they lost money on because it was built to too high of a scale, kept prices low to get users on board, then demand caught up until it became profitable. It makes sense for a company with a shit ton of capital to hyperscale first, and worry about profitability later, otherwise, they risk losing that entire market segment.

Yes they do. The US government wouldn't subsidize it for private use like China. Unless you're a datacenter that going down would crash the economy that is.

I don't know what the fuck you're trying to argue here, AI companies are not profitable, have no plans on how to be profitable, and data centers cannot recoup their exorbitant costs even when you don't factor in their parts having a lifespan of 5~ years before they're significantly outscaled.

GE, Terrapower, NuScale, all have 300+MW reactors, with NuScale (in my opinion) producing the best, since they can scale existing plants modularly. These would easily power smaller cities, and can also be combined/scaled to power large cities. Just because it is "small scale", doesn't mean it isn't power for the masses, retard. Regulatory overhead is what prevents them from building in the US, with or without subsidies (which all power companies get massively anyways).

I'm amazed that you're arguing so passionately when you don't even understand the basics of capital investments. You should be proud.

They’re moving to use cloud computing and streaming to replace local GPUs. It’s been obvious for a while but lately it’s impossible to ignore. From a business perspective, NVIDIA has literally no reason to release an RTX 6000-series of consumer GPUs for gaming. They will be at full production/sales capacity at least through the early 2030s for data centers.

You will stream your games and you will like it. Buy a good GPU now or deal with the consequences. If you already have a 5090 32 GB, hold that shit and sell it for a hundred grand in 2029.

You pick one of the most volatile businesses possible and don't realize the vast majority fail within a year of opening. If the US economy was rallying behind a few restaurants that can't make profit because the citizens have the capabilities to make similar meals for less it'd be called out too.
>Why would you buy a car it doesn't make you any money

Even if demand goes up the problem is these structures need to be rebuilt in a few years. and models are becoming increasingly easy to run so you don't need gigantic data centers to begin with.

What do you think large companies do with their excess capital? Keep it under the mattress? Excess capital is always burnt to generate future profits. Sure, in a few years, people will probably be able to run models of the same quality at home, but technology always scales. That's why AI happened in the first place, with the popularization of stream processors for gayming, then being used for crypto, the technology got to a place algorithms created years ago had the scale of compute they actually needed to run. Even if next year AI didn't need the cloud at all and was lightweight enough it could run on a poorfags pc or phone, that compute would still be leveraged for model training. Even without all that, it's not exactly difficult to find customers wanting to leverage compute. AI datacenters are only ~1/4 of generalized compute datacenters, and that capacity can easily pivot to other workloads.

Not including the cost of monitors I'd like to get two what kind of PC can I get with $1400? I'm not expecting much. I only really need it for coding and 3D modeling.

Something like this.
https://www.costco.com/p/-/msi-codex-z2-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-r7-8700f-geforce-rtx-5060-ti-8gb-16gb-ram-1tb-ssd-windows-11/4201007816?langId=-1

If you're 3D modelling, it's going to have to be an Nvidia GPU, as AMD are absolute dogshit for productivity and they still haven't fixed that after all these years.

I accept your concession.
>>748266765
I looked into anthropics "profit" and they exclude the costs of training and count revenue shared with other companies as their own; they've refused to elucidate on what the actual earnings were.

Weird that a company that's going for IPO would misconstrue their position.
So there's 1(one) company that potentially earned money after years, and it seems like they didn't actually contribute to that 800billion.

That is feasible.
>PS5 games are just PS4 games running at 1080p/60fps (or less) upscaled to 4k
>PS4 games are just PS3 games running at 1080p/30fps instead of 720p/25fps
>PS3 games are just PS2 games with toned down difficulty, mechanics and depth
Video games really haven't changed in the past ~20 years. Graphics have improved, but the way the games themselves are designed are the same. In fact, it's more honest to say gaming's regressed in design. Look at Wolverine.

It's not a natural consequence or inevitability that this has happened, it's due to very specific tricks and policies that didn't have to be implemented.
The finance industry scammers very specifically borrowed eg. $10 trillion from banks (backed by governments) on the argument that there is eg. $1 trillion consumer economy that can be skimmed over years to pay off the loan. They've leveraged the entire consumer economy to prop up the private-investment economy, on the promise that the private investments will be made worthwhile by the far smaller consumer economy.

Either the politicians that allowed this are retarded and couldn't comprehend this is basically an 80 year loan, or everyone involved knows they were just kicking the can down the road for future generations to pay the bill.
It's very easy to see this is a problem, it's quite simple in concept to limit the amount of loans companies/individuals can take out, it's very standard to put checks and balances on these greedy actors but the US establishment just didn't in this case - probably because this is the most lucrative opportunity yet for government to be incompetent.

Under Biden AI was used for fun stuff, like gaming show hosts gunning down contestants with machine guns, US presidents arguing about videogames, and songs about gluing your balls to your butthole.
Under Trump AI is used to maliciously destroy not just the consumer market for computer parts, but the fucking environment worse that the petroleum companies EVER did.

Because the 5070 was already a substantial upgrade over my 1050ti when I got it last year, and couldnt at the time justify paying a third more for the ti, especially since i wasnt even sure my psu could handle any higher.

As a /biz/ nigger, I doubt it. Our current biggest threats are regulation and blowing up oil refineries. Liberals seem to love taxing computers and banning data centers. If this happened nationwide, the economy will crash (Oracle specifically will crash, causing OpenAI to crash, which will then cause many other stocks to crash). Rather than rooting for the economy to crash, you could just buy a 5090 now and see your computer parts be worth more. Once the next gen is announced in 2028, you can sell your used 5090 for profit. So it's either you become a hobo who can't afford a gaming pc because the economy crashed, or you can be making money while owning the best PC on the market. Pick one.
>>
>>748279854
The entire western economy is betting on this tech making AGI (it wont) so when the bubble burst you won't be playing video games you'll be scrapping half built data centers.
>>
>>748279271
Obviously youve never hit a vram limit
>>
You want to know the best part? The people paying them multiple times what a RAM chip is worth are banking on making that money back... still no profits

When they crash they're going to take the economy with them
>>
>>748280276
yeah dude, it's the libtards taxing ai that's gonna crash the economy. Not AI being an overhyped fraud.
>>
>>748280531
The libtards are banning datacenters and taxing computer parts. The economy isn't being built on AGI or AI slop. It's built on selling computer parts to datacenters. Oracle is took out a massive amount of debt to build datacenters and if they can't deliver, everyone they owe money to will crash and burn.
>>
>>748280642
>The libtards are banning datacenters
I wish, just half assed bills that die on the vine.
>The economy isn't being built on AGI or AI slop. It's built on selling computer parts to datacenters
To do what at the centers? And why in the last year and a half did they ramp up construction?
Also, all of this is going to fail because America's grid can't handle the extra load, lol.
