It's boring and heavy handed. The monster "design" is nothing but wriggly blokes. The combat, when you're forced into it, is repetitive and heavily skewed against you and not in a challenging way, in a "you either one tap the scary blokes popping up in front of you or you get chased to the ends of the earth while taking unavoidable damage throughout" way. The stealth is confusing becuase it's first person and your only tools are one bottle and a radar and your enemies have no patrol pattern or visible way to understand where they're even looking. There's next to no unique scares. The characters can't shut the fuck up and the music keeps droning on even when it should be quiet. The bit in the old man's house is really intense but gets ruined the second you're out because the fucking nurse can't be helped but mouth off "ohmmahgod what was that". The characters are never scared, just constantly panting and nervous and talking like they're on the verge on crying, like every fucking game these days. The environments can be interesting but most of the time you can't see shit. I don't think nuhorror developers understand an industrial hellscape (like say, an oil rig) is not scary if YOU CAN'T FUCKING SEE IT. They think grime and dark equals unsettling and maybe it is to normies. The gameplay is repetitive, the music gets reused until you get tired of it. The writing is the worst. At one point the nurse dials a hotline and Doctor Misogyny responds pretending to be the automated voice, and says literally "welcome to the hotline. If you feel guilty because you let a patient die press 1" in a smug british voice. Kaufmann and Eddy were also bluntly evil but the devs knew that when the scary part is how evil a dude is, you let it speak for itself, you don't hide it behind "symbolic" bullshit because you NEED to come off as surreal. The corrupt CEO story is so fucking on the nose you can use it to see better.
Fuck this game and the slurpers who like it.
