This whole thread turned to shit. I just wanna state that I love this game. I've put 500 hours in it so far and I started in January. My son loves the login jingle through PlayOnline. Nothing makes me more excited than popping a WS or hitting a magic burst as SMN. I won't be playing a PS, but I will continue to slowly burn through all the content up to WotG at lvl 75 to experience it like God intended. Yes, this means I have done all rank 10 questlines for each of the nations. I fucking HATE the Magicite quest. Castle Oztroja is cool though.

Regardless, FFXI was made before WoW turned the genre into an RTS wannabe.3. It was the brown and bloom era and it's an open world game on a PS2, so as you can probably imagine, there's a lot of brown and gray. It doesn't exactly look the way everyone wants their MMORPG to look. Getting access to all this was a series of extremely tough missions and boss fights that filtered a huge number of people, so it was real bragging rights having Sea Access.

Another tactic was they had like a whole alliance of Dark Knights all pop their 2h with K-clubs, the DPS was so high AV just melted, that took was declared cheating and invalid.
