Awakening, as much as I love the idea of the tactician/MC getting supports (I still ship Mark with Lyn), Awakening is the start of the downfall. It's just far less serious than the games that came before it in favor of being a shipfest. Three Houses was actually on the right track toward uniting the old, grittier FE stories and characters, with Awakening's larger focus on relationship sim. The monastery became a huge drag toward the end of the game, but other than that, I liked what we got.What really killed the series was Engage. It's just not a FE game in any traditional sense outside of gameplay, which it did fine with. FE to me is mostly about conflict and tragedy with a real story to tie it all together. What should have happened is a continuation in the direction that Three Houses went it, just honestly addressing the game's issues, definitely don't do the multi route bullshit again, pull it back to one or two and focus on quality.
Awakening and Fates foretold the end and 3H spelled it outright. Awakening and Fates widened the appeal so normalfag weebs would come into the franchise for their dating/waifu simulator shit. And of course there's the obscene localization that made the games excessively childish for modern, western audiences.3H tried to appeal to personafags in a doubling down of modern gaming appeal and Engage is just another awakening/fates but with even more animu designs to appeal to 19 year olds. FW is all of those things wrapped into one horrible game. And also everyone is brown now, for whatever reason. Modern IS is just a revolving door of "how many checklists can we hit to bring normalfags into this franchise?"Unironically zero dignity

The maps in FW suck so fucking hard. No secondary objectives, no stealable items, he'll not even fucking chests yet. They're the most straightforward maps where you just send your 1-2 range lord up and wipe the map.
