And not even all of them. She's not cut out for the hard part of putting the right people in charge and restoring customer goodwill. She's just another David Zaslav. Except I don't think that Asha Sharma even cares about videogames. She's there to make Xbox stop eating into the AI budget and that's it.

>>748268096>>748268407>>748268473>>748268830TL;DR: Microsoft filed this patent to fuck over 2K and Madden. Not to put adult diaper ads in the next Elder Scrolls game. You know how Sony's "Stand up and shout McDonald's" patent never got implemented? That was because they never intended to. They file these patents just to stop other companies from implementing systems like this first. Sony didn't even have a system in place, and didn't even have a plan for a system that could detect both the user standing up and shouting a specific word. But Microsoft did. Microsoft could have used the Kinect system that was integrated with the Xbox One to do exactly that. So, if they had tried it, they'd have to pay licensing fees to Sony, and in the end, neither company ended up implementing it. This is similar, except it's actually targeted at Take Two and EA more than anyone else. They already integrate advertisements into their sports titles, and that integration could get even more involved in the future. So, even though Microsoft filed this patent, they probably have absolutely no interest in actually implementing it. It's unlikely to be received well in their own games, but the precedent has already been set for it in NBA 2K and Madden, which got away with the advertising because it enhanced the games' adherence to reality. (It started with real venue names, progressed to equipment sponsors, and slowly expanded from there.) If EA and Take Two want to put actual interstitial ads in their video games as a natural evolution of the broadcast-like format, they're going to have to give Microsoft their pound of flesh, which means it's probably not going to happen at all.
>>748268096asha won
>>748269921Everyone will taste the curry sharts
>>748268830what's really cool is that when the corporations have eye tracking in front of all of us they can make it so that the ads don't go away unless you consciously watch them!
>>748268096>Not Microstop
>>748268473They probably speedrun killing cloud gaming (since it's about that). You can't simply tell investors it's bs, you have to make it fail.
>>748268096The bad news is that they're seriously considering thisThe good news is by patenting this, it means no one else can do this.
>>748269696You say that but the reality is both companies fully want to commit to this route. Consoles are one step away from movies and naturally, they want the extra revenue from interrupting the users with ads until they get sick of them and move up to a higher tier subscription, like what Netflix did.On another note, being interrupted by a total of 20 ads in 2 hours of movie time is so repulsive to me, and my boomer dad gets mad at me when I point this out because "It's just 30 seconds! These ads are how they subsidize the subscription! Stop being bothered by it!". Some things I will never understand.
>>748268096Didn't they already patent this but you had to yell [BRAND] at the TV or some shit
>>748271965These aren't ads being served by Sony, they're "news items" being pushed to the console by the publishers of the games they're associated with. Similar to how it works on Steam. The truth is that they know 100% that putting linear ads you can't skip into video games isn't going to work. Some people are so averse to any break in the action that they skip cutscenes and run through the game without knowing what's going on. The people they'd be targeting most with embedded ads would tolerate them the least. Believe it or not, the Gun-Ball gamers do have a breaking point where they won't blindly whale, they just recently managed to make EA walk back single-player mode microtransactions in the most recent College Football game. It's not completely hopeless. They might be dumb enough to pay ten dollars to make up for each dime EA spends, but they're not willing to pay for shit they know costs EA absolutely nothing.
>>748271965>Setup adblocker and vanced for few boomer parents>Check again few days later.>Whole shit is disabled And then they give some horseshit excuse.
>>748273834How do they even know how to disable it if they can't install it for themselves in the first place?
>>748273758>The truth is that they know 100% that putting linear ads you can't skip into video games isn't going to work.Lmao. They've had these ambitions for years. The groundwork is basically complete, now it's just patent faggotry and finding contracts
>>748274178It was removed actually. Still annoying as fuck.
>>748268096which microslop games are worth playing again?none?oh well, business as usual then
>>748268096Uh oh where are all the pajeets saying asshat is le heckin based queen saving gaming?
>>748274270This was five years ago, anon. It's never happening. The average dipshit who only plays COD, 2K, Madden, and whatever over-the-shoulder Cinematic Action Game is trending at the moment, will fly into an apoplectic rage at the first sign of an unskippable interruption in their game. The reason this shit has never been implemented even though it's trivially easy to do, is that it always tests abysmally badly.
>>748274178ntA but that's easy to answer>It's time for your mandatory android/Win11 update!>Uh oh! We notoced you installed a naughty app!>We cant provide you with our top class quality service if you use this nasty, buggy app, okay? It'll give you viruses and aids!>Fear not! We can remove it for you and install the official approved app instead!>Remove naughty app? Select yes to proceed! The rest is history. The boomer tech illiteracy is not a meme and corporations exploit this ruthlessly
>>748274434>This was five years ago, anon. It's never happeningRead the OP again
>>748269696>Not to put adult diaper ads in the next Elder Scrolls game.just give it a few yearsjust like how premium streaming had no ads, then it was just pre-roll, and now its ads every 10 min
>>748268096Who would even play a game that has thatAt that point just go outside and grab a stickThis patent exists because they want money from other companies
>>748274363age of empires 2
lol
>>748274560>>748274594I'm telling you, it's never going to work. Microsoft filed the patent in order to put EA and 2K in a catch-22 because they're the only publishers who have the conditions in place to get away with it. Most likely by integrating skippable ads that offer a small quantity of virtual currency as an incentive. If Microsoft holds that patent, EA and 2K can't use it, and they can't license it because the license fee and free currency would both offset any benefit that comes from the program. No other kinds of games would be able to get away with integrated linear advertisements like that, which basically guarantees we'll never see them now.
>>748274434iirc this was proposed for madden or nba 2k because thats how it works on cable tv
>>748274514i sometimes put ubo on my moms computer for security but because all she does is click ads and get scammed it breaks almost all her sites so my dad makes me remove it then yells at her for getting scammed and spending all his money
>>748269696You're correct but we live in such a fucked up time that this shit will become a reality one day soon. Shit is so fucked and the majority of gamers are too stupid to stop consooming
>>748268407im already sick of the verification hamster wheel
Don't you wish patents were used for something worthwhile and beneficial to society?
>>748268096Why the fuck does every company insist on playing ads everywhere you are every second of every day? Has anyone ever bought shit they've seen in an ad? I actively avoid things I see in ads because ads teach me to feel annoyed.
>>748268096Patents should be illegal, and they would be if the fucking establishment wasn't corrupt as fuck and raping children every day before eating them on a fucking island with other pedhopiles.I'm serious. You have got to be a fucking RETARD to still believe voting matters. It doesn't fucking matter which side you pick, they're both the same behind the curtain, and you're too stupid to see it.
>>748275763Incorporating more advertising is the easiest way to generate more revenue without assuming much dischargeable risk, needing to make significant changes to a product or service, or investing in new one. All you need to do is open up some space for an ad to sit in and Coca-Cola and Pfizer will hop right in and pay you for the privilege. The fatal flaw here is that we've made ad space, which is obviously tremendously valuable, artificially cheap, because it's anchored by internet advertising which started out dirt cheap because they needed to convince big brands to spend money on the internet in the aftermath of the Dotcom Bubble. On linear TV, you could pay two or three dollars per viewer-second on a 3AM infomercial to as little as 20 cents per viewer-second for an ad next to the Super Bowl (Larger TV events are more efficient because they distribute the cost of each viewer's attention much more thinly, but they cost more overall.) Either way, that's still massively more expensive than advertising on the internet has always been. Ad views are worth negligible fractions of a cent, and clickthroughs are massively undervalued even though they bring a potential customer closer to a sale than any other form of advertisement even has the chance to.Internet advertising is so inexpensive that TV and Radio advertising have had to cut their prices to stay even close to competitive, but the price of internet advertising is kept artificially low by a giant prisoner's dilemma situation. If Google were to raise its prices to a level that actually corresponds to the real value of an advertisement in order to cut down on their intrusiveness and scam potential, another company would simply undercut them by charging the same undervalued prices they had already accepted as part of the business model. So the strategy in every market segment has become total inundation instead of making maximally effective use of limited time and room to advertise.
>>748273758Gun and ball gamers do not have a breaking point, they have a point past which deformation becomes permanent, shit taste somehow becoming so shit that a lack of shit is disdained. "Gun and Ball gamer quoted as saying that it just doesn't feel right if it isn't paying 100$ for a game with ad breaks".There is resistance, but deformation is permanent and resistance will lessen and fade upon repeated application of force. The deformed gun and ball gamer can then be used to apply pressure to anyone with standards, because they will keep buying and hyping slop.
