"Early Access is bad for game-ACK!"
https://otakukart.com/palworld-and-valheim-lead-steams-best-rated-2026-games-as-six-early-access-graduates-enter-the-top-10/
Who said that? Early access is great, pre-orders are bad.
What were they competing against?
>>748294045DELETE THIS
>>748294045It's fine when it's done well. But remember when Day 1/0 patches were only done to fix big things the devs didn't notice but were disproportionately fucking up the game and you appreciated them jumping on fixing it so soon? Now the standard is "ship first, bugfix later". Companies cannot handle keeping things tasteful, like that one slacker in school who will see a teacher permits late work and abuses the fuck out of that too.
>>748294591Early access is basically a preorder
>>748294045>best ratedvalheim is so highly rated because of covid nostaliga, the game is in a horrible state, palword is also overrated because 20% of the good reviews is just "LMAO NINTENDO GET GOT LOOOOOOOOOL" meanwhile it looks like a UE5 marketplace tier game
>>748294958>pay early>receive no gamevs>pay early>receive gameEarly access is basically the opposite of a preorder.
>>748295110You're paying for a blatantly broken demo
it's different for survival-crafting gamessomehow it just is
>>748295187True for both cases.
>>748294591Try to remember when "Early Access" was this big taboo up until quite recently. When Steam launched the Greenlight program, players were getting scammed left and right for like 10 years by EA developers either breaking promises, taking the money and running, or endlessly milking the EA tag forever without ever releasing, and if they did release it was usually unfinished or underdelivered.Over the last decade, Steam added many rules and restrictions for EA games, and they kind of had to because it was starting to become THEIR problem.Early Access as a whole getting headlines like in the OP is a VERY recent thing.
There's no difference between EA games and full releases when both are full of bugs from day one anyway.
>>748294045Early access is a great idea in concept just like crowdfunding a game.It just sucks that it's so often misused. At least it comes with the built in expectation that it's broken and unfinished, so if you buy it and it's that, you have no excuse. Also, I hope they keep developing palworld.
>>748295070Palworld mindbroke you
EA is awesome if you enjoy watching the changes develop instead of just needing a replaceable FOMO you'll never touch again
>>748298103FoM, not FOMOI feel so brown now, damn
>>748296217>Also, I hope they keep developing palworld.I do too, but they've gone on record to say they're not gonna keep it going forever. They said they've got some big updates planned post 1.0, so we'll likely get some 1.1 and 1.2 expansions to get a nice even level cap of 100 and some endgame islands.https://gamingbolt.com/palworld-updates-will-continue-after-1-0-but-not-like-no-mans-sky-says-publishing-headI imagine they've expanded the team a lot and wish to develop new games, possibly a sequel since the IP prints money. The fact that they've specified a wish to develop a game on a newer engine makes it seem like they're tired of developing for the current one.
>>748294045one of the best games of the year (sinker sound) is early accezss
It's not inherently bad and is fine when devs know what they're doing, but you can almost always visibly see changes in priorities as game development went on because of community feedback and more money coming in, but the game devs are unable or unwilling to change already released content to be more cohesive becsuse of EA, or filler content to appease EA players for a while.
>>748298180FotM, you nigger. You confused me for a minute.
>>748295187You're retarded. You're buying a game. >b-but it doesn't say 1.0Doesn't matter. You know what you'll get. Like imagine your favorite game, and now imagine somebody writing 0.08 next to it. Do you still like it? Can you even imagine that, you autistic freak?
>>748294045Exceptions prove the rule. There are people who understand this expression and those that shouldn't have opinions.
>>748300631Now imagine that same game as a broken piece of shit, but you're imagining the day someone writes 1.0 next to itThat day never comes
>>748295187>You're paying for a blatantly broken demono, that's what a day one AAA purchase is
