I don't get how people learn languages with flashcards. Seems like such a roundabout way to go about it, and it rarely has practical applications. To me it was always easier to just dive right into the language. Read a book in that language, play a book in that language, watch TV shows and YouTube videos in that language. At the start you have to translate individual words frequently to the point you can barely enjoy what you're doing, but it only takes a few months to become proficient. After that you can read a grammar book to learn the formal rules. I'm fluent in 4 languages all thanks to this. Of course Japanese is not one of them, that's the most useless language ever for a Westerner.

SRS is good make sure you get some practice doing whatever you use the language for otherwise you will mostly just be good at doing flashcards. Clozemaster is good too. I use both. However, I don't really care about learning a language and just wanted to learn a little bit of vocab from a few different languages. Reading, writing, speaking, and listening are all different skills you should to work on. Also, get a mnemonic book or two and practice them. You should be visualizing a lot of stuff initially. I prefer Supermemo, but most people will use Anki.Many card games are good to learn about probability and risk taking. Overwatch is generally really mentally stimulating. Then you have all the relational frame brain training games and n-back which are pretty good. Writing by hand, drawing, and juggling are also good to practice. Reading helps build your focus. The factory games you can use to get into systems theory and engineering.

You understand kanji is a meme and actually very easy when the fucking wikipedia page for kyouiku kanji links a study that shows they makes up 95% of all kanji in newspapers.The 1000 kanji japanese learn in elementary school which are all extremely straightforward are enough to understand 95% of written words but still they have to learn 1100 more kanji just for fluff and extremely specific autistic shit you'll encounter once in a lifespan apart if you're into chuuni literature. 4k kanji is a lot but maybe less than 1% of japanese know 4k+3k is still very huge but only the most prolific scholars would require this much2k seems big but reasonable, still totally unecessary for a foreigner learner1k is totally feasible for anyone, especially when the first 200 are about 3 lines, next year there will be more individual pokemons than kyoiku kanji
