I had the M3 flashcart, which was pretty cool. It came with a cartridge for the GBA slot that added rumble (for Metroid Prime Hunters) and extra RAM, so I could use the Opera web browser. I used it a lot for listening to music and writing school stuff on that PDA homebrew, MoonDS, I think. There was also a homebrew that let me read CBR comics.

I got on the R4 train pretty early and didn't think that much of it as it remained very niche for ages, considering the average person was to clueless to figure out how to find and download roms to a micro-SD. But I knew shit was fucked and out of control when the most tech illiterate parents were just buying pre-loaded R4s from Asian discount stores with the sticker replaced with like "50 Games" and the micro-SD card glued in.

Flashcarts these days are such a fucking joke. The EZ flash omega is designed for pokemon. No one needs a flashcart for GBA for anything else. Luckily the flashcart also contains a sort of gameshark or AR. The main website even distributes a cheat folder with cheats for every GBA game.Every single pokemon cheat is in fucking chinese.There are no decent efforts to fix this. No regular gameshark or AR codes don't work you have to fucking convert them.

There is zero reason to use them on the 3DS as you can run DS roms straight off your SD card and DSiware can be installed natively. The only reason you would use them is to save space on you SD card on your 3DS since the highest you can go to is 128GB due to cluster size issues leading to massive load times or crashes past that.
