As early as level 19, learning my character, I was getting asked why I wasn't running optimal routes on a pirate dungeon I qued into. Getting told I was a time wasting idiot because I wasn't leading the party to jump over a series of barrels to just barely clear a fence during a moment when a patrol wouldn't aggro onto us and we could sprint to the boss. More than one person told me I shouldn't be tanking any dungeon without watching a guide first. When I reached keys, the meta entirely changed and damage avoidance was more valuable than traditional tanking, a lot of careful movement and jumping was rewarded over damage mitigation. Sure, I learned that you're not rewarded for fighting everything (or even most things) but I was consistently running into people getting upset because as a party we weren't doing the most optimal, minimum pulling routes and strats. >>748603025As a tank, I really enjoyed that my ques were instant. If someone gave me so much flak or heat that it genuinely bothered me, I could just leave and have a new group within minutes. I'm open to criticism to improve, but some people flew off the handle because I wasn't marking symbols over enemies during combat or moving as fast as they wanted because the healer could 'theoretically' keep up if they did their rotations right so we could get through faster. I just wanted to be the wall at the front of the party and have fun.
