By the end of next year AI will be good enough that you'll be able to create pretty much any mod you want for any game.
What's next for modding?

There's no way AI will be good enough to code mods and if it EVER gets to that point it'll be heavily regulated. Come back to me when it can do real things like https://litter.catbox.moe/4hqxk8tclxzgx0qu.mp4

Okay, but when will AI be good enough to actually play games

Yeah, some AI models can play specific games, but there are no models that you can drop into Minecraft then into Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden and it will slowly learn how to play those.
>>

What's funny is using AI for voices is the fastest way to make your game flop.
It's literally better to sell the game without voice acting at all.
>>
>>748531876
You don't need voice acting for games.

AI is like any other technology. There will be luddites but the reality is that pandora's box is already opened and there is no turning back. Embrace it, know its limitations, use it as just any other tool

I think it is and will be revolutionary for game development. Can it be used to make slop? Yes. Is every developer being assisted by AI a slop producer? No, not necessarily

Maybe, if you are a basic person, but, what if you are a creative person and AI just helps overcome limits that hampered materializing your creativity? Not everyone has the money or wants to get into crippling debt to make a game.
>>
>>748532580
Ask AI. The keywords are VS Code, Codex or Claude code
>>
>>748532769
If you are a creative person you don't need AI tho.
>>
>>748532580
Claude code and VS code you have to give it xmake/cmake this was last year I'm about to start on it again since I have time. You have to make sure claude understands clib or it'll hallucinate. It wasn't very good then but in the last few months AI slopping has improved even beyond what I was doing then.
>>
>>748532680
what the fuck does code have to do with self expression?
it is a means to a result.
i don't see why a mod made with human-made assets, but coded with AI, is such a catastrophe.
a nigga that knows how to do shit in blender, shouldn't need to spend a lot of time just to learn coding for a game modification.
>but knowledge is power
nobody should spend their already limited free time just to learn how to give a futa model an erection for a mod. unless they're interested in coding, of course.

Google's competency peaked in ~2012-2014 and they have made it worse, both on purpose and through incompetence, for over a decade straight now. Have you actually tried using Google lately? Did you know they have started removing search specifities? They just killed the ability to search for exact quotes which has been a search engine feature for almost 30 years. It's not being lazy Google is entirely useless now.

Everytime I see this point made, it's the anon's roundabout way of whining that they wouldn't dare touch the second page of a google search result or even scroll down past the first two ad links which are 100% avoidable. Also, if Google and the rest of the internet purged ads, you'd be bitching about how you have to pay to a monthly subscription instead. Also, do keep in mind that AI will do the exact same thing.

>A guy with 4x your IQ
I'm literally a researcher in the field at a high-profile university. (No, I won't doxx myself, but it's true regardless you believe me or not)
I say the pace is quite what anyone would expect who's knowledgable about it, it is as much of a technology explosion as it was with the early internet. I see no reason to slow down, we need to keep the models regulated so they won't develop reasoning beyond human comprehension, but otherwise I say we should step on the gas, not on the brakes.
The future possibilities of this technology (the 2024 Chemistry Nobel Prize is already a staggeringly positive example of good AI results) far outweights any alarmist's baseless nonsense or the modern equivalent of a medieval peasant fearing something new because he is incapable of understanding what it is in the first place.
>let's stop because there's no reason to be this fast
Is not a reasonable, nor level headed reasoning. It's just baseless extrapolation and slippery slope fallacies.

In any case, and to my delight, no university or company is ever thinking about slowing down on AI research, so what these people (or you dear anons if you disagree) thinks about this fantastic technology.

AI Overview
Claiming "you don't need X" when the debate is not about the necessity of X is a form of the straw man fallacy combined with an irrelevant conclusion (ignoratio elenchi).
Understanding the Error

Red Herring / Irrelevant Conclusion: This occurs when someone builds an argument that answers a completely different question. Arguing about whether you need X avoids the actual point being debated.

Straw Man: This happens when a person changes or exaggerates an opponent's position into something easier to attack. Claiming you said X is "necessary" misrepresents your original point so they can easily knock it down by proving X is optional.

Why It Happens

Misdirection: The speaker wants to avoid a harder or more nuanced point.
False Priority: They assume that if something is not strictly required, it holds no value or should not be discussed.

The statement relies on several severe logical fallacies and abusive rhetorical tactics rather than addressing the actual merits of the debate:1. Appeal to Authority (Argumentum ad Verecundiam)By citing "a guy with 4x your IQ," the speaker attempts to validate a position solely based on the alleged intelligence or status of a third party. High intelligence or expertise does not make an individual's opinions infallible, nor does it exempt their arguments from critical evaluation.2. Ad Hominem (Abusive)The phrase "you 3rd world shitholes" is a direct, hostile personal attack. This is a textbook ad hominem fallacy, which occurs when a debater attacks the character, background, or identity of the opponent to distract from the lack of a substantive counterargument.3. Genetic FallacyThe speaker judges the validity of a viewpoint based entirely on the origin or geographic location of the person presenting it, rather than evaluating the logic of the argument itself.4. Poisoning the WellBy framing the opponent's disagreement as "doubling down" against "reasonable and level-headed reasoning," the speaker attempts to prejudice the audience. This tactic pre-emptively labels any counter-response as inherently irrational before it can even be fairly considered. In argumentation theory, when a speaker resorts to prejudice, insults, and appeals to raw authority, it typically indicates an inability to defend their position using objective facts or logic.

This is kinda fun.

>In any case, and to my delight, no university or company is ever thinking about slowing down on AI research, so what these people (or you dear anons if you disagree) thinks about this fantastic technology.
I think the thing everyone misses about AI tech is that if it gets implanted into androids that are good enough to not trigger the uncanny valley, humanity is finished. Not because of some Skynet level threat, but because it would've come at the perfect moment when everyone is most socially atomized and more willing than ever to trade human interaction for something else. I understand some people see that as a positive, I just don't. I think you'd have to be misanthropic to see that as a good thing. This is like encouraging a vice because you don't want to fix the root, which will lead to an absolute decline. Just my two cents though, hopefully it doesn't turn out that way.

I actually research humanoid robot and AI integration, so your post is an interesting coincidence, or perhaps an inevitability because its the most prominent expectation of the tech.
>because it would've come at the perfect moment when everyone is most socially atomized and more willing than ever to trade human interaction for something else
I understand your point, and honestly I can't give you any consolation other than my own opinion.
I don't think exchanging human relations isn't that bad of a thing. It's an option, I expect people to still get together and the loneliness epidemic (especially in asia) is genuinely beyond saving outside of engineered companions.
Many people have a lot of problems or trauma to have fulfilling relationships, also finding worthwile people to be in a relationship with (they exist but are rare) is quite a difficult challenge in itself. Why should they then be barred from closeness just because they are unlucky?
If humans should be replaced in vehicles because they cause way (way) too many accidents on the road and its hazardous, why should we discount the emotional and psychological dangers of stupid partners?
Perhaps -and this is only my opinion- some relationships are simply not worth keeping for the sake of an ancient tradition that came from a need to uphold a population.
Robotic wives and husbands could be a perfect solution, in time. Also some people never should have kids because they ruin people without effort. Robot kids could fix that too.

>hopefully it doesn't turn out that way.
Trust me, we all try our best. Despite me posting on this site, our labs aren't filled with idiots, we know the dangers and aim for the potential.
Fire can be used for heating food and arson too, but we shouldn't discontinue using fire simply because it can be used for something bad. Human jealousy is more of a risk than anything.

No, it doesn't, you fucking internet baby. In 2013 Google's reverse image search could find -anything-. Several high profile doxxing cases arouse out of its accuracy in the lead up to the great internet gay-out of 2013-2015 which is not necessary to go into further to illustrate my point. The issue I take with this is that you're positing that nothing can be saved or fixed and that we just need to introduce a "cure" to the manufactured problem. It's at this point where I can't blame people for questioning why we're even doing this. We're at the point where we're just creating to create, which inevitably creates an issue, so then all of our inventions are for the sake of fixing the issues we created.
>Many people have a lot of problems or trauma to have fulfilling relationships, also finding worthwile people to be in a relationship with (they exist but are rare) is quite a difficult challenge in itself. Why should they then be barred from closeness just because they are unlucky?
I do agree that this tech would be best for those that have irreparable trauma as those people tend to spread their trauma like a virus.
>Perhaps -and this is only my opinion- some relationships are simply not worth keeping for the sake of an ancient tradition that came from a need to uphold a population.
I'm confused, are you saying that a relationship is purely a societal construct rooted in traditional societies trying to maintain civilization? If so, I disagree.

>nothing can be saved or fixed and that we just need to introduce a "cure" to the manufactured problem
You won't find me disagreeing with how parts of the problem is manufactured, even if its due to incompetence and not outright malice, but I don't understand why introducing cures is that bad.
We fixed having to wash clothes in rivers and buckets with the washing machine. One could argue that people had a lot of gossip and social activities during a communal washing session too, but it was a problem that clothes needed to be cleaned in a more convenient way.
I think approaching relationships is in a similar boat.
>We're at the point where we're just creating to create
We're creating to hopefully fix something or make something more effective, as we've been doing since the invention of the wheel and flint arrows. Not all issues are of our making and there are some issues that will arise even if we do everything right, simply because humans are forced to adapt to different societal environments. Is it our fault that relationships are in decline? Maybe, I don't know. It's not like we can point at a specific point in a system as the root cause, it's an amalgam of problems, not excluding human stupidity, fear and distrust.
>I'm confused, are you saying that a relationship is purely a societal construct rooted in traditional societies trying to maintain civilization?
I do. I think that is its primary function. A baby dies without the attention and help of the parents so naturally relationships lasting atleast until the kid grows up became the societal norm for the sake of survival. Instincts are very potent and attraction is nothing short of a hunt for a better mate for healthier babies with longer lives.
It is required, or the father would ditch the woman immediately and leaving the mother and the baby to fend for themselves which is understandably bad for survival.
I say that maybe relationships shouldn't have to center around the survivability of babies.

I am a millennial who fucking loves sci-fi so of course I'd be all over true AI. It is still annoying that I have to put the AI to write the prompts for me or assist me in writing the prompts and it is still annoying that I can't tell the AI to just use Photoshop and do it step by step with layers ... albeit one person who uses AI told me the new models with AI agents can do that, but it's just not popularized enough, even today's AI websites are absolute dogshit instead of meing integrated into a software properly and being done in a DeviantArt style for music with proper filters when you search for something.

However there is 1 possible future which ironically is more of an actual end than the tranny transition we are stuck in right now. 2010s and 2020s felt like stagnation and degradation in terms of society. Fucking chinkoids are using the animation technology better than Americans and Europeans now and are providing specialized websites for AI animation unlike our dumb as fuck Americans and Europeans which were supposed to be first worlders with new technology.
Pic related is our possible "future". You know the advantage of a post apocalyptic world? 98% of our population is dead or at least sparse across from Terra to Pluto.

Also someone should really remaster pic related with AI already. We can finally have cover-tier artwork for every panel, yet all we have are chinkoids using it to make funny videos.

First. You're mexican and brainlet or just white trailer trash.

Second. You cannot hire a professional singer, voice actor, programmer, artist for as cheap as a subscription to Claude, ChatGPT, Nano Banana, Seedance, etc. from a lousy $20-$90 a month, it would cost you $2000 to $9000 a month for a professional, not a dogshit fanartist, fan dubber and script kiddie and codemonkey. The AI kicks the ass of every codemonkey and any newbie out there and pajeet out there. The reason they put pajeets in charge of AI is because jews are are arabs and arabs are indians, your technology and look of it is being sabotaged. The jews are poisoning the well (again for the 100th time) and you're an underage brownoid who loves sucking Partap Davis' dick. You love sucking that dick or else Partap Davis would be dead by now. Watch as all the bots deny that isn't his real dox.

Third. There's a "theory" you accidentally stumbled in or rather I intelligently pointed out that governments are paying 99% the costs to make the technology cost peanuts in relation to how much paying for a H100 or A100 costs ... (more like 8 to 12 of them since you need an entire farm to create models and LoRAs for every single little thing)
- ------- ------ However that theory fails cause every year VRAM is becoming more and more available and cheaper ... (uhh anon the prices) if we do not consider your obvious sabotaging jewish government that creates fake prices by refusing to produce and buying their own supply and reselling it to you "second hand".

>>748556919
That's fair. I could see some DLSS/raytracing like hardware that would destroy frame-rate but still be playable. But good game AI itself is so much more than just decision making. For it to really matter you would need things like on the fly AI generated pathfinding and animations and stuff like that. That's what matters more to make AI feel alive an realistic. For more generic action games I mean.

LLM style AI for a "simulated world" like Crusader Kings would be pretty insane to see however. Even if that would require an entire server farm.

Oh lord, you're one of those "How am I supposed to compare to the big studios" retards who sets the bar too high and then complains that you can never reach it. You don't immediately aim for that shit, you start small and reasonable and then build your work up over time and projects. The fact that you immediately threw out the idea that regular hobbyists can have talent too just proves what a fucking high horse you're on for no reason, the drawthreads on 4chan alone are full of talented people doing great work for pennies if not free and Fiver is legitimately a godsend for indie projects.

Massive projection.

Oh I see what you're saying you're talking about throwing the 3d models in the world and the AI puppeteering the whole thing. That would be demanding probably impossible on current hardware. I'm saying having the game engine as is animations, navmesh nothing really changing then having the ai tell the npcs where to go and when to attack or run more tactical type approach.

of course, Sam, of course, sorry for not wasting money on your useless google engine replacement (correct 80% of the times, built on middle faggot retardness as design)

No. Its simply too much money. It'd the cheaper to launch a new branch of the military.

>First. You're mexican and brainlet or just white trailer trash.
You are so utterly retarded and deranged you make fucking Copilot look like a genius.

>You cannot hire a professional singer, voice actor, programmer, artist for as cheap as a subscription to Claude, ChatGPT, Nano Banana, Seedance
No shit. Yet for some reason game prices aren't coming down. They are going up. If I'm not getting a professional voice actor and instead a monotone TikTok AI voice. Why am I still expected to pay 80 fucking dollars for a game?

> intelligently pointed out that governments are paying 99% the costs
What the fuck are you suddenly sperging out over RAM prices are AI investments? What does that have to do with video game companies being cheap greedy cunts?
>>
>>748557564
They're aware they're just in an endless stunlock of cope or extremely retarded.
>>
>>748557576
Oh you're the fan artist 15 year old teenager who thinks he has the talent and experience and DESERVES $5000 a month

>Noo, no sir, honestly. I only want $500 a month
Bitch, why the fuck would I pay you even $50 for your piss poor performance as an "artist" if I can just hire a generative machine that 100% mimicries 130 years of human data from the greatest minds and talent possible? Bitch I'll got to X Country/America Has Talent and hire some unknown artist from there with some actual talent before I hire your overglorified spEDs ass. Am I paying for your abilities or for your pills? I am not paying for your autism pills.

If anything the retarded jews feeding it trash data is what made AI so fucking bad in the first 3 years and why they had to curate and filter it so fucking hard, but let's not forget they are communistic jews who literally threw a hissy fit when the AI started lewding or rather they pretended they totally didn't do that on purpose and that's why lewding is bad. Arabs are obsessed with moral posturing over others like the psychopathic hypocritical pajeets they are.
Just like fan dubbers who immediately go "Waahh plsu understandu cheap production, we cannot measure to honorrful japanese mangaka who make an entire #issue in 1 week" why can they do it and you lazy pigs can't? And you expect me to pay you $20000 for something you can't do? Do you know how much mangaka artists are paid with? minimum wage to less than minimum wage. Those are the true starving artists who actually have excuses to not draw proper body anatomy correctly and can't draw animal portraits worth a shit. Those Japanese artists have excuses, not you. And you expect me to pay you $5000 +$15000 as compensation cause you worked yourself to "death" like the Japanese do every single waking moment of their life?
Get the fuck out of here. You're just like every gen-Z. "Pay me like a king but I can't even work at the level of a minimum wage. Pay me for existing".

Mentally retarded, gotcha. This is why we don't give technology to third worlders.

I'm positive you can easily make a ai voice dialogue mod for morrowind wow has had one for years now. I'm more surprised if it doesn't already exist
>>
>>748529550
AI is fucking monstrously effective for modding and reverse engineering stuff like proprietary model/animation formats.
I went from nothing to be able to export everything from Brute Force (the 2003 Xbox game I wanted the assets for a very specific reason) in a couple of days. Would have taken me literally years maybe, if ever, otherwise.

If you think those stick figure Garfield-tier Peanuts-tier newspaper scribblers are "talented", but then again you just said:

> "How am I supposed to compare to the big studios" retards who sets the bar too high and then complains that you can never reach it.
Failure. It's called talent, something you'll never have.
>Noooooo NOOOO you just have to EFFORT MAX honestly!!! ANYONE can be a professional and you can start at the age of 40 too!!!!
Such brown thoughts.

Honestly I think for the decision making you can achieve like 90% the same results with existing techniques like GOAP. It's just that few games actually need it or are improved by it.
Even if the AI can think really smart, it would still fall apart if for example the pathfinding+animations means they can never vault over the small wall, and instead have to go around it and so on.

However I do think there is some decent utility for "LLM" AI for strategy games since learning and adapting on the fly is much more important. Sadly they would probably also be the hardest to run. And in the end you would probably have to purposefully nerf them to such a degree that you might as well just replace it with an if else statement.

Nobody is going to pay you $9000 for your South Park figurines, anon. Matt & Trey are scammers and Comedy Central are imbeciles and the FED is printing fake money to crash the economy harder than NFTs in crypto.

I am not paying you $2000 for a fursuit cause "my inner circle of retards said this guy is a big deal ... within their inner circle"
when any football mascot animal suit costs 10% to 25% of that price.

It has existed for a few years now:
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/52279

Tried it my latest play through. It gets kind of annoying after a while and you end up tuning the voices since it's so much faster and efficient to read. Doesn't help that a lot of Morrowind dialogue sounds really off when voiced with the way it's structured.

That said AI voice mods for games like Skyrim are great. Always felt awkward when some lines were voiced and some weren't.
