Finally, some sperg representation in my vidya

you play games to escape your shitty life, not to continue it even more.
why the fuck do you want to see your failure in games too?

I like his autistic little drawings he makes.

>"hehe cat picnic :D"
>>
>>748692434
He's literally some sort of an interdimensional demigod who eats enough mold to get other people instantly turned into mush and only gets a mild trip out of it. Barely anything can really hurt him, so he is just chilling.

I would play this if it was a stand alone game and not a Control sequel. Control is the only game of theirs I haven't played.
>>
combat feels so much better with the real time weapon switch mod, they really need to turn this into an actual official feature
>>
I'm loving this game but I truly think the melee combat is a step down.
And by that I literally only the 3 hit combo. Keep everything else the same but switch that out with some gun play and I'd be happy.
>>
>>748696651
well you can play Control then, it's really good
>>
>>748696651
I did play Control and I'm not interested in it because of that since Control had pretty visuals and everything else about it sucked.
>>
>>748696503
in my defense the first game required you to invest everything into a single weapon to deal a third of the damage that throwing a rock does
also they don't even give you a weapon swap button
>>
How old is he supposed to be? Abducted at 10,20 years in the old house and 7 years in a coma so 37 is about right? An I assume Jessie is 40

37 but I don't think him and Jesse have been aging at least for the last 7 years

I heard that enemies respawn after you beat one of the resonants.
So do I have to actually clean out everyone and then go for resonant?
Feels like that's what 'leveling up the zone' mechanic implies.
>>

Jesse was born in 1991
Dylan was born in 1992
Game takes place in 2026 so 35 and 34 respectively

Where do you think they went wrong? For me it’s their fixation with basically staying small-scale. Basically everything supernatural has the same ballpark of explanations (Astral Realm, Resonance-based entity) and it really feels like the FBC is a very incompetent Foundation who basically got sent to their knees by the first Keter threat they came across. What I like about the SCP is how it makes basically everything coexist within a single setting, magical stuff, aliens, superscience, mutants, eldricht horror, you basically never know what you're going to get and it makes a very rich universe.

Resets are limited. Also certain weapons fit some situations better than others, so it's better to diversify at some point. You can't even unlock all upgrades to a single weapon early through grind anyway.

How did the FBC not have a full blown mutiny after 7 years of FBC wagies living on hard floors, eating out of date food and being forced to fight Hiss every waking day? Surely one person would put a bullet in Pope's head and walk out the front door

There's a blue number in the top right of the abberant upgrade screen that scales all of your weapon/stagger damage.

Each weapon upgrade you buy makes the number go up by 1-3, so you should buy every weapon upgrade you can even if you aren't planning on using them.

>Mold Minion / Spore Burst + Ignite / Inferno for AoE fire damage detonation.
>People keep calling the Drill shit despite it easily having the highest damage output in the game with Ignite and Weaken stacking fire damage multiplicatively for each hit.
>World Tour Tickets + Brass Dusters turning every single Gravity ability into nuclear levels of damage.
>Shield can benefit from Framing Hammer for double-dipping Falter damage.
>Wallet + Mother's Locket + Medical Alert Band, then ability spam until Wallet turns off.
There's plenty more, but it's not like playing the game outside NG needs many of these things, it's an easy enough game until you start cranking shit up in the Assist mode.

Lol I was thinking the same the other day when I was navigating through the west incursion zone using only the small map highlights. But yeah it shares a lot of similarities with metroidvanias thats hard to ignore after playing dread so recently. The exploration in Resonant is severely lacking compared to the first game. It feels very on-rails despite it being open world. You have areas that you can discover and roam through but there isn't really a reason to want to go off the "main" path, unless you wanna find maybe a resource box or a flavor text/lore dump.
In the first Control, you could get lost for hours just doing sidequests or general exploration. You had control points that you could activate if, they were infrequent enough to make you want to find the next one. You could find a door that leads to some area that connects to a place you already discovered and it all clicks together. Resonant doesn't really have that, unless it's what the story calls for.

How the FUCK did the Former do nothing after the Board was imprisoned in the Aberrant? Afraid of the Hedron? Did Jesse lock the Board in the Aberrant because of Former?
The Hiss can't handle the Hedron or was the Hiss from Slidescape-36 also a weakened individual?
Where the fuck is Ahti? Did he know about the Hedron and bailed out of fear?
The Blessed?
The Secret Organization XIII?
Where is the Service Weapon? Jesse doesn't seem to have it.
How come Zoe does not want to have sex with a virgin dick the moment she discovers it?

You could find a door that leads to some area that connects to a place you already discovered and it all clicks together
ironically that's how i'd describe my experience with Resonant. at 22 hours I've dicked around more with side quests and door navigation than the main story
>>
>>748700331
I think the "Resonance saga" is mostly over. Dylan is in control of the Hiss. I doubt they will use another Hedron ever again, even though the patterning is one hell of an excuse to make outworldly level designs.
>>
>>748715231
The game implies the various spy hideouts you find is allied to FORMER, its logo is the hint

You know i think the designs for the Hiss are rarely talked about, they're pretty underrated.
They all have genuine fucked up body horror designs to them that almost kinda don't fit the game in some ways, but maybe that's the point. Way better than the first one since they're still mostly humanoid in that one.
That said it is pretty disappointing when we have an entire new resonance faction with the Patterning and we have no new enemies from it, all we got from it are the bosses.
>>
>>748715435
Wait, logo? I assume I had found all Organization XIII locations because Dylan finally talked about them to Zoe but didn't see any logo.
Holy shit... Found them through sheer exploration because I did not notice any logos

Been saying from the first one but Control should have leaned a bit harder on the horror side of things. The AWE expansion made me halt a few moments out of uncertainty, even if there wasn't really anything to be scared on the other side.
The Patterning does have unique enemies but they are all forgettable.
Combat isn't really this game's forte.
>>
my enjoyment of this game skyrocketed once i replaced whip with hammer, should had picked it from the start.

What the fuck were they thinking
>>
>>748715831
Wtf... I remember seeing it but never made the connection with Former and the eye.
>>
>>748715932
lel I started with the hammer, and later I was getting ganged upon so I bought a reset point and picked the whip because it hits enemies around you. I guess no matter what weapon you pick, you'll eventually wish you'd pick something else
>>
>>748715932
>>748716024
This is true but only because all weapons suck ass. The only cool thing is getting the just frames right for the guaranteed critical hit on the last Whip attack but you only get that upgrade when you're about to finish the game.
They dropped the ball hard on the combat dept.
>>
Only just beat the furnace Resonant and I got a question. Am I fucking retarded or was I thinking too hard on the first Taxi puzzle? I know I was meant to look for something different with them but on the last one I had no clue what was different so I just brute forced it.
>>
>>748715932
I went for whip ended going to hammer because I was getting my ass kicked by the big headed guys then went back to whip after the mold enemies kept kicking my ass with my slow ass hammer. Near maxed out whip is pretty good though
>>
>>748716228
The street lights the one without any blinking lights is the one you're supposed to take. The last one did trip me up though because I swear all the street lights were blinking until one wasn't anymore
>>
>>748715960
If you're on PC you can change a line on the executable with a hex editor to get it
it resets if you update the game though
>>
>>748716270
>my ass kicked by the big headed guys
Really? The big heads are super easy for me since I just get the perfect dodge buff and shit out damage with the dual blades and fist combo.

>>748716373
Fair enough, I was thinking too had and thought I needed to find a clue to use the phone for some dumb reason lel. The game is pretty fun, but yeah stuff like that I'm just a bit retarded with like the puzzle you do for Langston with the radio where I felt like I was just brute forcing THAT one too.

Great game. I expected mid combat. I just wish there wasn't so much forced comedy and no feminized writing (e.g. Zoe's entire character)
>>
>>748716539
Yeah the game seems to have a ton of those which is pretty nice. The laundromat one really got me since I thought I needed to figure out a pattern only to figure out it was just a map of the room and which machines to turn on, made me feel so fucking retarded.
>>
>>748716470
it won't fuck up your save or anything right? What line is it?
>>
>>748715435
Former's logo is an upside down pyramid. How else does it imply that it's linked to former

>>748715231
I think the Aberrant is the service weapon. It's linked to the board, and the first game implies that the service weapon can change form (e.g. excalibur). Obviously the game would've been better if the aberrant was Former's version of the service weapon, like some people were thinking
>>
>>748716889
it modifies the exe, not your saves. but make a file copy just in case
on hex editor search for 025F6D44
then find the sequence 2D 78 5F 02
change that 2D for a 05, leave everything else as is
save, exit, run the game. outfit should be in wardrobe
>>
>>748717092
The uside down pyramid is The Board.
>>
>give in to the Hiss

>>
>>748716524
>The big heads are super easy for me since I just get the perfect dodge buff and shit out damage with the dual blades and fist combo.
It was more that I wanted a way to deal with them fast since having to keep up with multiple of them targeting me off screen with early game health was kinda annoying
>The game is pretty fun, but yeah stuff like that I'm just a bit retarded with like the puzzle you do for Langston with the radio where I felt like I was just brute forcing THAT one too.
The langston one tripped me up too and I was brute forcing it until I remembered he said it was finnicky and he kept mentioning directions. The puzzles are intentionally like that though so don't beat yourself up they're not hard but they're designed to make you stop and pay attention to the environment. Just wait until you get to the subway
>>
>>748717301
I think it's the "murdering anyone that isn't infected" bit that is bad, anon. Also the fact that the Hiss also seems to try mentally breaking and abusing the people it attempts to draw into it if Jesse's experience with the Hiss is anything to go off of.
>>
>>748697975
It's more similar to RPC in trying not to get too many things that cancel each other because then there is not much point to do anything.
>>
>>748717310
Fair enough, for my build I can just shit out a few flame blasts now and get their Falter meters to max for easy room clears. But the early game health pool is super fucking limited I'll agree, especially when you're going against the floaters that explode.

Darling was always a faggot, anon.
>>
>>748717732
Most of the prime candidate stuff was in the original. It was always a fucked up program that Darling ran. It's only in Resonant that the mask comes off.
>>
I'm going through that building in the evac zone and this bitch is talking all cunty towards Dylan

>Your file is full of murder
>people don't change Dylan
>you bad evil white man

I'm sorry, is Dylan responsible for his murder rampage? What is this shit. Everybody was licking Jesse's pussy in Control as Jesus Christ 2. Dylan as usual is the white male punching bag. If this guy was Jean Grey

>OMG she had to do what she had to do for X Y Z

She wouldn't even need HISS as an excuse for her murderous behavior.
>>
>>748717732
Retcon? It was always the case that he fucked up Dylan by trying to groom him into being the next Director. Darling was a bastard for what he did, but he still ended up doing the right thing by saving as many lives as possible with his HRAs. That’s what makes him an interesting character.
>>
>>748692098
so is Dylan a genius or did being locked up make him retarded?
>>
>>748718126
>I'm sorry, is Dylan responsible for his murder rampage?
I mean, a bit. Even before the Hiss fucked him up he was killing researchers in the FBC which while they did deserve it, that's still murder and it's one of the reasons Dylan is working as hard as he is in Resonant to make up for it.
>>
>>748704886
People will say that mashing one button is the most efficient method and then complain that enemies take too long to die and that the game is unbalanced and too hard later on and fail to see the connection.
>>
Any guy that storms into a another man's college lecturer unannounced calls him an idiot and takes over his class is obviously an asshole
>>
>>748718204
He was locked up and experimented on since he was a kid, with zero real human contact that wasn't just other researchers poking him like a lab rat. He's completely socially stunted.
>>
>>748718126
Nobody knows that Trench let the Hiss in, and Zoe especially doesn’t know how bad it was for Dylan growing up. Later on you can talk to her in the tower about what it was like to be possessed by the Hiss, and Dylan basically describes it as waking up during surgery because the doctors fucked up the anesthesia. He was awake and aware of what was happening, and felt everything, but couldn’t do anything and was basically just a passenger in his own body. She seems genuinely apologetic after that.
>>
>>748718204
His only form of entertainment was Threshold Kids. It’s a miracle he isn’t a babbling lunatic.
>>
>>748704509

>>
You couldn't really blame Dylan if he turned into murderous psychopath after what FBC did to him.
>>
>>748718259
The first one was an accident because they kept trying to get results out of him. Carla and the others were because he was sick and tired of being treated worse than an animal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pBK_nfvSMw
>>
>>748718449
Even during the start of the game, Zoe was one of the only people aside from Hope that wanted Dylan to be kept alive and be used to help, so it's more likely that Zoe is just understandably high-strung over everything happening.
>>
>>748718626
He didn’t even let the Hiss in. That was Trench’s fault.
>>
>>748718642
Yeah but you forget that Zoe doesn't know the truth behind those incidents. As far as she knows Dylan is just a guy that killed FBC researchers and let the Hiss into the Oldest House, there's not a lot to trust which is why everyone treats him like a freak.

in control dylan does mention he had a dream where he was an only child named jesse dylan. in resonant there's a bit where he loses his memories of jesse and thinks of himself as an only child, until he forces the memory of jesse back in
so it's a bit like the tom zane/alan wake situation. there's still plenty of room if sam lake that hack decides they're the same person and it'll make sense with all the info we have, but could also take it in a different direction that also works

Played for about seven hours, got bored, uninstalled it. I might go back in the future and try to finish it. It's about as boring and "fun" as the first game, which I also dropped after about 5-10 hours. The overhauled combat isn't enough to make it fun, and the combat is still pretty mind-numbing. You can get some cool powers and do different builds, but ultimately 1-2 builds are so broken that you might as well just use that one.

Jesus, i just Platinum Trophy'd the game less than two hours ago and i never noticed how huge Dylan's head was the entire time.

This is either an over sight or an artistic choice because Dylan is meant to look like a big fucking baby in a suit/a prisoner of the FBC in the first game.

Artistic choice. Jessie's head was fucking huge too in the first control. Zoe's head is kinda big too. If I had to assume its probably to accommodate for the over the shoulder view or something
>>
>>748715231

Darling probably Patterned and became a new Hedron off-screen back during Control (2019). Emily directly states the Hedron in Resonant was encapsulating Manhattan in order to transform everyone in it into it's own kind. The Pattern barrier around Manhattan is basically just a giant Hedron egg shell.

Completely agree that Northmoor should have got out and started causing shit. But at least there is a note at the end of the game specifically mentioning that his containment reactor is beginning to fail. The Oldest House might be getting permanently abandoned soon.

thats a retarded comment, the culture war was created by tourist leftists that inserted their gay racist feminist political ideology into games when it has nothing to do with it which then fragments the playerbase and destroys franchises and studios have you not seen what just happened to halo studios? you think that happened out of chance? i ask you google 343 manifesto and ask yourself why a feminist in charge of a halo studio tried to lie and state their studio name was called a character name instead and why their game failed, its because of everything ive stated we are 10 years deep in this dogshit and these fucking retards still have not learned even with the meltdown of the entire gaming industry into a few studios now i hope it was worth it lmao

absolutely not.
setting aside that you literally have only two combo chains XXXX and YYYY, the entire combat is a boring loop of juggle>ability spam>recharge ability meter with X/Y. feels more like playing a fucking mmo than an action game

Reminder than Alan is responsible for a lot of what happens in Control. He at least contributed to the existence of The Hiss along writhing about everything that happened in his DLC, which included Hartman and the destruction of Investigations, and Trench letting The Hiss in and killing himself was one of his earliest Bright Falls episodes.

So what do you guys think about Oscar? The common consensus I've seen online is that the furnace followed him down into the sewers and merged with him patterning happened. But I don't think that's true or what happened. Given the notes and audio recordings we find in the factory along with the other resonant entity notes I think its more likely that his paranoid obsession with the furnace following him caused him to pattern. Judging from the artist and the dancer the common theme from I've seen so far from patterning and resonant is that it happens to people extremely dedicated to something and Oscar's obsession would fit the bill. I also don't think it would make sense for the furnace to follow him and merge there's no area in the factory that shows signs of the furnace manifesting there and molten lava trails imply that Oscar turned in his campsite tried to cool himself off in the pools and then isolated himself after killing those workers. And as we've seen from his campsite its not big enough to have held a furnace. I think the theory that its a merger is coming mostly from people who never played the first to encounter the furnace and probably think its humanoid

In AW2 we see Darling in a black room, he isn't sure where he is but he has a radio and it tunes to Alan Wake reading a manuscript page. But could be Darling is stuck between dimensions and just getting signals from the Dark Place. But in Final Draft you see him meet Tom Zane, who proposes they work together to find a way out. Unless Tom Zane can hop dimensions and its in-betweens, they're both in the Dark Place.
>>
>>748729175
Doesn't seem to be involved at all. At least officially, I'm sure they asked him a billion questions considering it's his connected universe thing so he needs to at least have some involvement on where they're taking it, but the creative director was Kasurinen.

Having Darling be 100% good or evil is fundamentally the lamer option in my opinion. He's best in this grey area where he's totally willing and able to do awful things to people like Dylan and view it as nothing that bad if it means something great can come of it.

So mold/Underhill expansion but what is the other one? Former? Northmoor? Jesse (very unlikely)?

The bosses are really shit. Western studios really can't make interesting enemies. It is all just fodder.
They should get classes from Capcom and Fromsoftware on how to make boss fights. Armored Core 6 still wipes the floor with every single game released since.

Once the Patterning is dealt with, the barrier falls. Which means the Hiss and Mold are free to spread. Especially the Mold since it didn't get weakened.

I guess that's true. I took it as such when Pope dialogue says they disappeared around the same time Jesse did - I assumed prior that they were just talking to Dylan like they'd talk to Jesse and were still around doing other stuff, not that they were trapped in the Aberrant
>>
>>748734185
You can start a dialogue with Pope about it and Dylan can try to tell her that they're in the Aberrant now only for the Board to tell him to shut up and don't inform "strangers/stakeholders" of their predicament/flip-flop in probably one of their most viscerally whiny moments. It essentially spells it out if you hadn't already pieced it together by then.

-There is a secret, international, organization out there trying to remove powers from altered items
-There is something worse than the Hiss, or the Hedron, coming toward Earth.
-Dylan quasi went back in time and created the "Gap" slide explaining the discrepancy between Jesse saying there was 9 slides, but Dylan saying there was 8, in Control 1.

Maybe Darling just doesn't like hotdogs and prefers pizzas but he's a tyrant and wants everyone, especially those that do no want to, eat pizzas.

iirc aren't the oldest house and the dark place linked with one another through the astral plane/oceanview?
>>
Is there ever an explanation for how Dylan killed all the people in his cell? Can he just make people die with his mind or did he kill everyone by destroying the glass?

but we already did
Jesee's sprite was so cute
>>
So far it seems like a 9.2/10 game, except combat is merely fine.
>>
so do we like zoe or nah
>>
>>748740745
Nope. The closest thing we get to an explanation is that Dylan apparently doesn't remember much of it and Darling extra-drugged him that day, then lied on the after-action reports about it.
>>
>>748741401
I really like her, I think her and Dylan's growing relationship is really cute.

If Pope and Jesse can be all but confirmed a couple, I hope they could do the same with Dylan and Zoe eventually
>>
>>748714345
>In the first Control, you could get lost for hours just doing sidequests or general exploration.
It's same here though?
After getting out of Old House at the beginning I spent like 15 hours doing side quests, world trials, found a bunch of enemy spy bunkers etc.

No, SC2 had a sword.

A real sword, not whatever poser shit the Service Weapon does.

Probably yes, tried a bunch of things but nothing worked.
Also got plat so it's not a part of the shit that needs solving.
>>
I would rather be hiss or mold instead of being 40 copies of myself fused together into a big circle
>>
>>748692098
I wish the game was longer with more fucked up zones and more big resonant bosses.
Atmosphere and lore were great.

? i can have an oppinion on someone playing it
and it looks super floaty
the "world" being ny streets and roofs looks boring
there's so much dialogue
the story feels super disjointed like a kojima game but without kojima

i liked the first control but this one just looks... off anon, that's my opinion
>>
Once you’ve been to prime candidate training you’ll never stop wanting to beat the FBC to death with your bare hands

Your opinion is as worthless as a twitter tranny's opinion on Persona or Resident Evil.

as is your life yet you're still here

Imagine a game you played urself, immersing urself into the story, world and forming muscle memory to its systems for 20h+ and enjoy the experience.

Then someone who watches asmongold play it for a while tells you its shit.
Thats you
>>
>>748743171
Go back to whatever hole you crawled out of that convinced you your opinion is worth anything when you just watch other people play games like a fag.

Sure.
And I can tell you to fuck off with your shitty memes and hot takes about game you didn't play.

Fags like you are the reason why everything fucking sucks now because you act like your opinions are worth hearing and retarded devs listen to you instead of people that actually would play the games.

>suddenly being told it's been 6 months
Wasn't it six hours? Or is there another pit later? I'm thinking about the sinkhole after you set up the CFD.
>>
I like that they made a video about Darling having a meltdown over the icecream when it could have easily been another letter.
>>
>>748717732
The people replying to this are dumb. Darling wasn't evil in the first game. He was a giddy little researcher who fucked Dylan up because he was too much of Science man, trying to figure out Dylan through experimentation and by the time through trial and error he had worked through his ignorance he had fucked Dylan all up.
It was a believable dynamic and wasn't done out of malice. He had science blinders on looking at P6 as some problem to solve instead of a person.
>>
>>748743862
Easier to think I'm retarded and misremembered, no way Manhattan would hold out for 6 months. Yeah 6 hours.
>>
FLoaty combat, ridiculous dialogue everywhere

This games a downgrade from part 1
>>
>>748743583
New shitpost dropped
>>
So the next game after the max payne remakes is the Alan Wake Christmas special?
>>
>>748744434
Alan Woke 2 was a flop

they need to put their money on Payne
>>
>>748744513
Without the VA there wont be a new one the remakes will be bad mark my words
>>
Kind of a wasted opportunity to not give a fitmatching outfit leather jacket and jeans combo.A bomber fashion would also go hard.
>>
Holy shit the Oldest House fault with the Hedron reveal was kino as hell. I beat it last night and I'm thinking of replaying it. How far back do the saves in this game go? Never tried scrolling down. I played for maybe 30 minutes afterwards.
>>
>>748735461
they hide this fact and it's a cunt move

the game is... fine, but things are severely lacking in the story department, especially if you're coming from AWII and some of the subquests are cringe as FUCK, like this one >>748701856
>>
>>748735597
heh
>>
>>748744805
I really quickly bored of AW2, it just wasn't for me. I finished the first game but the combat was just so boring. The detective board thing just killed any enjoyment I would have had from the second game, not for me
>>
>>748744953
maybe try it again when ur older
>>
>>748744982
I'm too old for boring walk around hold button on clue bullshit. give me fun combat or i'm not interested
>>
Having a lot more fun with the knives than the glaive
>>
>>748744953
AWII isn't the best game ever, but its writing is a noticeable step up from compared to most Remedy games, but even in the older ones there is this idiosyncratic tone/ voice that is present, and it's safe to say it's Sam Lake's influence.
The point is that this game has almost none of it, it coasts on the foundations of the first game, but it misses the unique voice.
It's just... normal for most of the time. There are some impresseive setpieces, but they are more Marvel-tier than what I'm used to with Remedy.
>>
>>748744054
He kidnapped a ten-year-old and locked him underground.
>science
How does falsely telling somebody that their sister abandoned them further the cause of science?
>some problem to solve
Seeing a person as an object *is* evil. No justification for it can be good enough.
Even in Control 1, Darling was a capable, intelligent adult who looked at a traumatized orphan and thought, "I can exploit him to get what I want." That's the same thing every abuser thinks. The only difference is that Darling dressed it up in academic language so he could get away with it.
>>
>>748744578
Jesse got all the coolness genes.
>>
Jesses hair in c2 looks uncool tho
>>
>>748745739
her whole outfit is retarded
>>
>>748740542
The Dark Place is inbetween all universes. So it's more like the Oceanview is as present there as anything else. Darling most likely just yeeted himself hard enough out of reality that he ended up in the primordial quantum soup.
>>
>>748739925
Jesse/Dylan+Emily r34 status?
>>
>>748738821
>Langston
He's a bro, i never understood the hate people had for him in CONTROL 1
>>
>>748741401
I detest tsundere generally, and this sort of overtly leftwing girlboss variety in particular.
I like her voice, though.
