Emil has had pretty consistent quality. To call his slop quality is another matter all together, but he's been relatively the same since he's begun.Metzen on the otherhand has gotten worse and worse and worse. And the older he gets, the more pussified he seems to get. He seems like the kind of guy who models himself and what he writes on the company he keeps, and since the makeup of Blizzard has changed into a shadow of it's former self, it's no longer a place of nerds but modern day theater kid rejects who want to "express" their modern slop on a world that doesn't want or need it. This in turn has caused Metzen to follow them instead of following and associating with the original nerd crew, so his style has shifted. But that also isn't entirely true. If you want to see Metzens true writing style, you should focus on the story of Thrall. His personal self insert pet. Which is largely regarded as awful. And for good reason. That is who Metzen is as a writer. Everything else is reflection of him copying his betters and when they left, copying the scum that floated to the top in their wake.

Emil is consistently incredible at writing bad guys and evil factions. Also he believes that video game writing should get out the way of the player and just be a fun time for the player. However him getting promoted into writing the other stuff is where we start seeing issues. Also he's a huge Christcuck too.

And what they all have in common is a straightforward premise, a breakneck pace, and a cinematic climax.Lachance gets betrayed and eviscerated in a big twist after you get gaslit into killing all your friends in a big dramatic set piece.The final boss of the Arena is a hyped-up super special half-vampire who can be convinced to throw the fight and let himself die if you complete another quest. Astrid was betraying the Dark Brotherhood the whole time even though she's the boss, not the ridiculous jester character named Cicero. The characters in the Crimson Fleet are a bunch of action movie caricatures and the quest culminates in a heist for a treasure the previous Pirate King died trying to steal thanks to an ironic "curse."The Freestar Rangers questline is about discovering a disgruntled, jaded band of Confederate/GWOT Veterans have formed an illegal militia to extort people for their land and resource on behalf of Wes Johnson, who runs the GM of spaceship manufacturers.It all has a certain feel. Could the Arena have been more drawn out to make the end result feel more earned? Absolutely. Is there whiplash in the Dark Brotherhood quests because shit goes south too fast and you never get to appreciate it falling apart? Yes. Does it suck that all the characters in Starfield are paper thin and the Freestar Veteran grievances aren't explored properly? Definitely.But they all at least feel complete and compelling, unlike the rest of Starfield.When you tell Emil to build you a rollercoaster, he'll do a half decent job of it at worst, But he's dogshit at building roads and bridges.
