Writing went very well this year, I'm really proud of how many ideas I managed to bring to life, and the singfags taking their time to try them have all made my day several times over so far this month. I'll get some tweaks on the ones I'm less happy with in the next couple days.
I'll get plenty of editing done this year soon enough. I do have to say I'm very proud with how many songs are making it to Finished instead of sticking on the Editing tab, it feels like a big improvement over last year. I've given a listen to many of them and they're great too.
I really should get some sleep but my head's been racing. I think this is as good of an ending point for the day as I could hope for. I believe in the you that believes in me.

May as well post the copypasta if we need editors.

We are going to need more people mixing songs so we can work through all the submitted vocals in time this year.

Here's a resource of torrents for plugins you can use to help you get started with mixing your vocals and stuff later on, I pulled all of them from RuTracker: https://files.catbox.moe/vosvme.zip
It also includes some guides, and a link for both Nvidia and AMD instrumental extractors. I have not updated the torrent selection yet for this year, but I might do it during the week.

For audio software, I recommend REAPER. It's not as easy as Audacity, but once you learn it you'll be able to do whatever you need: https://www.reaper.fm/download.php - Mixing template is contained in the included in the ZIP I posted earlier.
Modern Audacity is apparently quite capable enough, but I haven't tested it. You can also use Ardour, which is FOSS.

In case you have a powerful enough PC, this is what you can use to remove vocals from songs you've downloaded: https://github.com/Anjok07/ultimatevocalremovergui
In case you need high quality files for songs you like, the best bet is to find them using Soulseek: https://www.slsknet.org/news/node/1

I know it's too early to ask, but when is the stream day likely happening this year?
Last year it was on a Saturday/Sunday 25th/26th, which meant about 11-12 days of editing and cleaning up. The year before that was also a similar Sat/Sun 26th/27th.
This year Sat/Sun is 24th and 25th which means there's a day or two less for all organizing work. I hope things get finalized earlier so there's less work piles up after the submission period ends.
Whoever does the stream, I hope things are ironed out sooner because last year had a bumpy start due to a mixup in files.

You're right to point out that it's a big time crunch. This is part of why it's so important everyone does their work on time and we get through the editing/timing songs/last second art/polls fast, so compileranon has time to compile and streamanon doesn't miss the window to stream.

Anyone that wants to help make sure we do actually get a stream this year, there is no bad time to start editing songs, and if there's 50 unedited ones sitting there on Oct 15th then even if you think you suck at editing or don't know what you're doing, pitching in even on 1 or 2 is a huge help. This is where the fear of the editor's special comes in, it's basically guaranteed if we don't have people ready to edit. Especially important we prioritize anything that needs to be death battles or polled, ideally we're running our death battle polls on the 16th this year.

It's more minor (technically skippable but a great bonus) but timing song lyrics is required for the stream to actually have those timed lyrics anons can follow along to, and for the files to include lyrics if you download your own copies. Technically anyone can time anything on the finished sheet even right now, there's a line on the sheet for it and it's so easy that anyone able to post on 4chan can do it, it's just that it has to be redone if the song gets an edit that majorly changes the timing (like cutting 5 seconds of silence at the start or swapping the instrumental to a slower/faster one). I'll probably dig up the guide on song timing later today to start shilling the idea here and there, because if a lot of it is done in advance that's 1 less thing people will want to rush done before the compileranon can start compiling.

You could get the feel of Mario Kart from the original song too, it's just a generic song about driving. You didn't need to get a singer to sing it and an editor to edit it and the song to be permanently taken up to listen to it and go "this reminds me of Mario Kart vaguely". I'm going to bite the bullet here… I’ll vaguepost because if someone doesn't understand this without an explanation then it's not something they need to worry about. For most of you I suggest turning this post into a stub and moving on to enjoy your time the way you already were instead. There are a million things I want to say but can't or won't because this isn't the time or place. This is really disorganized but I'm just letting myself post what I think helps to give others and myself a little closure on yesterday, so I'm sorry in advance for rambling. I'll address some comments from yesterday because I did think through them and want the people that are behind them to know I'm not ignoring them, but it will take a bit to get to that because I'm a hot mess as always.

Please, please don't keep bringing this up. I have to apologize for yesterday, I panicked hard when it felt like the walls were closing in on me. I told myself for a long time I'd never let that situation happen pop up, and I should have just stepped away from the keyboard, but if you knew me you know I get obsessive about things. I can only escape a situation on my terms and that has hurt people before. When something catches my attention I have to go all in on it, the rest of the world vanishes and I fixate on whatever “project” I'm on. It's a great strength and a great flaw.

I reread the posts from yesterday countless times. I slept on it. I've reread them again this morning trying to tell myself it's not something I need to address. I hurt myself thinking through my options all over again and the answer didn't change.

I appreciate the kind posts from people that were trying to help or trying to reach out. I don't need to be convinced though. I'm happy doing what I do. I'm “saving” the musical in my own way on my own terms, by enjoying it in ways that I won't regret. Each and every one of us “saves” it that way.

I don't want to be real instead of a rumor again. Hell, I don't want to be the rumor either, but I know that cat is out of the bag. I understand time can get things into a better position, but I'm a weak person in that sort of way and I can't put myself through it. I get what you're trying to say about making it a surprise, I see the appeal in having it be a final word people can't dwell on, but I'm not strong enough to turn a year of looking forward to something I deeply love too much to ever step away from into a year of dread. It's not something I'm equipped to handle, I've learned that about myself over time. When I'm feeling trapped I hurt others and myself trying to escape, and I don't want to escape /v/ the musical.

I promise you a fairy tale last second twist won't happen. I don't want people to get hurt expecting it. I don't want to see this post get remade every day for 2 weeks and have to read 10 replies of people hyping up the idea or making jokes about it. I'm a flawed person, it's not a secret. I'm not going to talk about specific issues here more deeply than that but I've gotten real help, I promise you. This is a line I'm drawing because I'm not someone that can step past it right now, and if one day I could find myself on the other side it will be because I am no longer the person I was years ago, or even the person I am today. Maybe one day that other person will step to the other side, but if anyone tries to convince them to do it will only have the opposite effect. The person on the other side can't be me and can't have people cheering them on for it.

For those looking out for me as an old friend, thank you for that. I'm sorry for making you worry and letting you down again. I'm okay, but the stress of seeing this again today and imagining it every day for the rest of nearly a full month and maybe even next year is too much for me to process right now.

Please don't respond to this and expect a conversation. When I'm done posting all of this I'm probably going to scream into my pillow, cry a bit, then listen to some old music. I might come back and read the thread after that, but I'm going to do my best not to let this be a topic I join in again. As a favor to a friend, if you see a post you think is someone you recognize, it's not. It's someone making something up, or a coincidence, or the site glitched. A vocaroo is AI or an old clip out of context, a link is a hoax, a post with information that could only be from 1 person will be walked back on and isn't actually true. You should treat it as something not worth any more of your time, and go back to what you were doing before reading that post. If a topic from long ago comes up, or a random link pops up and you recognize a voice or image or phrase on the other side, maybe someone is testing the waters to see if anyone even remembers that, but even in that situation it's morbid curiosity from someone that knows better than to be bringing it up and will regret doing it later. I don't like having to apologize again but I'm sorry, I know I'm going to make dumb choices again in the future because that's who I am and I am ok with it.

Let's just keep the musical alive and keep creating wonderful art together, in a way everyone feels comfortable with. It doesn't need to be more dramatic or complex than that.

Sabrina and Olivia are very different and they wouldn’t be compared at all if they hadn’t had that start. Olivia is more lyrical and emotional, and Sabrina has silly pop songs that are fun to listen to.
