Have you played any JAPANESE games recently?
Been playing some FE4.
i only play japanese games in japanese nowtrust me the immersion method works you only need a good digital dictionary
can't bring myself to do it, I'm an idiotanki deck finished, each day I was waiting to get it out of the way so I can start immersion (because obviously there's it's psychological coping mechanism to not think that you are shit at something, mostly trained in people from school, i.e. to not display incompetence or whatever, which is however the prerequisite to get good at anything) and the result? 0 books/manga read (even doe I started one), 0 vns/games played, 0 movies watched, 1 colossal failure retard faggot award obtained
Eh, it's been a while. I was going to play AC8 but I heard it's not that good and I can't be bothered with HV cracks, so the last game I played was MGS2.
Post difficult lines you've encountered while playing your vidya
>>748769469It's not your fault. It's a very difficult and time-consuming study. Anyone saying it's easy is lying.
>>748769469regarding the learning of a language, there are only two methods of failure. the first is (brain)death - the second is quitting. outside of these, there is no failure state
>>748771109That's like saying the only way to lose is to not win.
>>748770893>>748771109the trick is to have fun
>>748771401There's nothing fun about learning Japanese. Your English manga response image only proves my point.
I feel like EOPs quit learning Japanese disproportionately more than ESLs, once you know a second language a third one doesn't seem that hard, especially if your first language has stuff in common with Japanese like word order or ways of expressing things
>>748771532because you aren't having fun. I have done it with a different language and the more fun you have the more you input. I was spending entire days watching one piece in german because i was enjoying myself
>>748771536Nah, ESLs quit Japanese just as easily. For all intents and purposes, Japanese is a language isolate, so there's really no bridging the gap from a linguistic standpoint.
>>748768820Yes, but with a high quality AI translation. At this point there's no point in learning the language because you'll put in many hours and still have bad reading skills.
>>748771665
>>748771631Yes, I'm sure you're having a blast pretending to understand Japanese.
>>748771767that's the point, you don't have to understand it all. You use your brain to fill in the gaps and then one day you do know it all
>>748771752That's like saying Chinese is easy for English speakers because the syntax happens to be in relatively the same order.
>>748768820I read the entirety of YU-NO. It was, dare I say... KI-NO
>>748771824Nope, the only way to learn is to have full comprehension of what you're looking at. Skipping over words and phrases because you don't understand them is exactly how you stagnate in your comprehension.
>JAPANESE IS SO UNIQUE>WHAT NO ITS NOT LIKE TURISH AT ALL
>>748772030this but unironically
>>748772018you learn words through the other words around it aka the context, that is the opposite of stagnation
>>748768820I can't even learn english
>>748772091Maybe in simple sentences, when the meaning is abundantly obvious. It most cases, you'll need to use a dictionary to know what said word means.
>>748771665They don't have to be directly related, my first language uses the same sounds/accents and word order as Japanese despite having nothing to do with it and it's trivialized stuff I see English learners struggle with, and just having the framework of two languages to compare and contrast things with helps immensely since you're already thinking in terms of languages being systems instead of being stuck in the rut of your language being the only one that exists and the one you're learning being its strange illogical adversary. It's like the difference in stability in riding a unicycle vs a bicycle, sure two tires aren't as stable as three or four but the jump to two alone is huge.
>>748768820I am not a weeb / otaku or into any other retarded tranime incel shit.So alas my studies has to be boring shit like reading wikis.
>>748772171>The old castle was dilapidated, with crumbling walls, broken windows, and a roof that was slowly falling apart.oh i dont know what delapidated means so i will just skip it but ive seen it and can recall it now but i won't stop me not knowing from enjoying the rest of the book/film/game
Trying to learn japanese just made me realize that the true problem with it is actually katakana and all the disgusting ways its used to mangle words and names from other languages to force them into japanese sounds, plus all the retarded wasei eigo
I finished onimusha.I also vibecoded an anki addon to import and export video clips to notes.anki addon code:2110967026my video clip collection on mega:https://mega.nz/folder/fVETjIAY#kLKOrPHmMrvEj4pNZikYgg
>>748772191Sounds and relative word order are some of the easiest parts. The hard part is the heavy topicalization, pro-drop syntax, lack of cognates, and writing system. What you said was the equivalent of saying knowing arithmetic gives you a head start on knowing calculus.
>>748772285anon you are speaking with someone who only speaks 1 language and it hasn't clicked for them yet. We all know this is how you learn a language but they just will not accept it
>>748772286You just need to accept wasei eigo as completely novel words to be learned and separate it from the etymological source. And yeah sometimes kana can be inscrutable cancer.
>>748772285>uses adjective as an exampleAlways the same retarded argument with you people.
itt anons who are avoiding japanese, just input
>>748771536i don't know about other languages but being a native spanish speaker came in handy because the pronunciation is pretty much the same (with a few exceptions)
>>748772329(don't try this on your main profile or without exporting and backing up your entire deck collection because imports can't be undone as of now)
>>748772534>The conundrum left Maya staring at the two choices, unable to decide because both options had serious drawbacks.hmmm how will i ever figure out what conundrum means
>>748772436I feel like you intentionally missed the point of my post
>>748772635Sounds more like you don't understand the argument.
>>748768820ofc, Onimushaits pretty peak
>>748772705It's my argument
>>748769469keep at it anon, its extremely tedious but once you get to read/play/watch something for the first time itll feel great trust mealso try satori reader it helped me a lot during my studies
>>748772625More like>The conundrum left Maya staring at the two choices, unable to ____ because both options had serious drawbacks.Hmmm, the sentence seems a little harder to guess now
>>748768820i started ff1 pr a couple of days ago
>>748772747I guess you don't even know the point you're making anymore.
>mfw my Nip reading skills are good enough now to read most doujinsI don't get everything right, but I get most of it.
>>748770328>Sephiroth: This time's responsibility is being aged? (I don't know the character in the middle) Makoudo(?)'s inspector.Huh?
>>748772917Damn, nice reading. That's basically the gist of it.
>>748768820No because Japanese games kind of suck.
>>748772442>t. guy who doesn't know japanese
>>748770328Current mission is investigation of deterioration of "made up word"(some magic light bullshit? idk the second and third kanji of that) i think at least
>>748768820I'm still a newbie but I recently started Kugayama Shiori's Death Diary and I like the simultaneous subs, I find them pretty useful.
>>748773246Remember that if a verb precedes a noun, it acts as a relative clause, so it's a "magic like bullshit" that's deteriorating.
>>748773693thats what i meant but i might have written it like a retard
>>748773246晄 is jinmeiyō so not a surprise, FF uses some every now and then.
>>748768820Yes. With AI translation. No sense in learning a dying language. AI is the future, those who wasted their time learning glorious nippon is btfo.

I'm in this weird situation where I can't read at an N3 level, but N4 listening is still rough so I just had grok help me scrape some audio from NHK News Easy. Been listening it for about a week. Feels roughly my level so hopefully it helps.
