Apparently the story is slightly different (some stuff with Wesker I think) but I don't think anyone recommends this version. Code Veronica X was a port and update for the ps2. There's also HD ports of CV:X for modern consoles (but not pc), I think it's basically identical with some higher res graphics and lighting. So I'd say either emulate the ps2 version or get it on modern consoles if you own one. I also remember CV being by far the most difficult of the classic RE games, so I recommend keeping multiple saves in case you get stuck and need to reload to an earlier point
