If you want to go take a piss you have to go find the nearest bonfire but if you actually want to truly pause the game you have to rest which respawns all the enemies. This is because the game has online components which for some reason is acceptable by /v/ despite them saying always-online requirements are a big problem for literally every other game.

>>748837281You're over thinking it. Just play DS1 and if you like it try the others, DS1 isn't even hard. The difficulty comes from rushing through scenarios and being a mong. There bonfires you can rest at, and mobs only respawn once you've rested at a bonfire so once you've cleared an area you can AFK to your hearts content.
It doesn't appeal to me because I get bored playing games that consist of grey and brown where you just hit things. I like the general gameplay and combat style, since I liked Lies of P, but I wouldn't have enjoyed that game if not for the complete package including aesthetics. Elden Ring looks alright, a little dull maybe, Bloodborne looks great, but Souls just looks dull to me.
