Who even chose these mascots? A dragon and a chicken are such an odd combo? And I don't like either one. The dragon looks too much like Spyro, and is so trans-coded, too. The chicken is pretty inoffensive, but also reeeeally bland and dull.

Even the old Steam mascots, that that were different colors and shapes, were better. And the anime girl was decent also.

I think it's supposed to be medieval fantasy themed. Last year had a sci-fi theme. The chicken represents the rural part of medieval settings.

I didn't like the cosmetics of the last decade or so of sales.
Don't like animu style charscters so steam girl was bad for me, which was a shame because those backgrounds were otherwise pleasing in terms of art detail, clarity, theme, proportion etc. So I mainly skipped the sales.

Didn't like that weird scifi one from last year either. Didn't mind the art style, but hated the theme. So I skipped those too.

The dragon chicken one from this year was thematically back on point but the backgrounds are garbage. Picture too big and zoomed in lacking detail to be a good background.

Annoyng they either get the theme right but fuck up the cosmetics or vice versa.
Last Halloween had decent themes and cosmetics, though just barely better and still leaving something to be desired. Hoping this Halloween sale has better art and themes. It's like no one they commission to design these backgrounds has a sense of what make a good steam background.

I agree with this. These autumn themes are my favourite, and I wish they didn't include the dragon or the chicken. I just want leaves and shit!

How should they behave, then? My problem with dragons is that their mass seems to be far greater than what their wings could realistically carry. And even if they are some sort of "fly-by-magic" creature, I still wish they couldn't hover in place and also needed space to take off and land.

I'm one of those guys thinks dragonheart is the best thing ever.
And yeah, flying dragons should have huge fucking wings. At least large enough to make them LOOK like they could fly using those.
And not being able to fly everywhere, hover, etc, could become decent limitations even.
Skyrim dragons look so fucking funny to me.

I think it's been like 3 or 4 years since I liked any of these steams themes for their seasonal sales. Hated the dragon and chicken, pink haired girl with the cat, and the sci fi vomit they had last year. Hopefully the Halloween sale happening in late october will have good point shop items.
