What do people honestly hope to accomplish with AI? Do they think that if we advance it enough that we'll have a post-scarcity society? That's not what'll happen. If anything, the most you can hope for is that it'll all get copyright laws back to their reasonable origins. The only to get people to buy AI content is for them to not know it's AI. There is a finite amount of training data for them to use, and the more widespread AI becomes, the more risk of feeding it its' own output rises. We've also hit the point of diminishing returns that no amount of data will alleviate. And no amount of soft development will overcome the physical bottleneck that advances far slower. I don't think people will look back on the age of LLM AI fondly.

My problem with this stuff is that following development trends was fun. It was never boring. Sometimes the industry was slower than I'd like to pick up on fun-sounding ideas, but seeing how ideas came about and seeing how people worked with those ideas in the years that follow- always fun. This feels like it'll just completely blow that up.
