The TCG either hits that preemptively or the players just refuse to touch the set of cards at all.

In OCG just recently they even made Tribute Summon into a keyword, A(for Advanced), just like they did for X(Xyz), P(Pendulum) and L(Links). Because Fusion and Ritual are just 2 characters long it isn't really needed. It could be done (Spell Counter in Japanese still uses 6 characters for its spelling).

In the case of Red Layer and Stardust, all of its effects are separated effects. If you go read the OCG japanese text, they will have circles with numbers telling you "this is effect 1 and this is effect 2"etc. But more recently it's becoming more common for effects with an activate effect to hold 2 different outcomes which is declared on activation and the bullet points are the designated key for that. Weird spot to decide to be consistent with OCG about bullet points but completely skip effect formatting. Example is Magnet Bonding, you can see ithe (1) there indicating that anything after it is the same single one effect just 2 different outcomes.
