Vyper has insane spirit scaling, every point of spirit you buy gives you about 6.5 dmg, as long as you don't miss your combo. Early game you're a burst monster and roam in lieu of afk farming. If your game is going really well, you hit your vitality spike next so you can roam faster and get even more kills. If its a slow game and you aren't getting frag opportunities, you hit the 4.8k gun spike. Once your combo starts to fall off (hp pools too high, can't guarantee max damage venom) you just afk farm and show up to teamfights, play like a regular gun carry. The spirit items you buy all remain useful with the exception of the improved spirit, which you can eventually sell while slot locked. You can upgrade it to boundless but there are usually better options. The extra spirit is nice lategame, not because of your combo, but because of merc mag+capacitor+lethal venom on-hit, you actually do a shit ton of spirit damage. It also gives you more movespeed.

The cast range actually scales with your level though, as you get some boons its a lot easier to cast it on someone without getting right in their face. It can also be important to manually cast it early in a fight, even if you know it won't do a lot of damage, due to the -40% healing reduction. It is hard to waste considering the on-hit effect upgrade you get at level 3 venom.I would recommend binding it to quick cast, as well. When you have it on quickcast you can cast it without stopping your shooting, which makes a huge difference in getting a kill early game or them escaping on 50hp. As well, if someone is just out of your range you don't look like an idiot walking around in the targeting animation and doing 0 damage.Most frustrating part about this character can be your lane partner. If they aren't very well versed on how the venom works, they will let lots of kills get away. You want to lane with huge bursters like paradox or apollo, if possible. You should also try to swap out of lanes that are against heroes with burst heal, shields, or any ability that provides temporary invulnerability (pocket, mirage, mina, etc)Those heroes are a pain in the ass before you get ult. Once you get ult, you can guarantee they take venom damage by waiting a full second after applying venom before you ult them. They'll be petrified as it goes off and be forced to eat all the damage.

If you hit a big ult against multiple heroes, its super worth it to shoot them all and get it to apply. My build has you buying Tesla for your 4.8k gun spike as well, it is a very good item. The only real "shtick" is the 4.8k spirit spike, which people seem to have varying opinions on. I'm currently Oracle IV, not super high skill but far from bricklo, and I'm having a ton of success with it. As you play the build more you'll realize from minute 0 when you're against a lineup where its worth skipping, but I think in a majority of cases its actually quite good. A lot of m1 carries get absolutely creamed by it, so while they're trying to farm up early/mid you can just roll up on them and destroy them. You honestly sacrifice very, very, very little by going for the spirit spike. You buy merc mag every game, so the QSR isn't wasted. Bullet resist shredder is useful as well on Vyper for obvious reasons.
