repostan cause I got cucked by archival

Really sick how much you're rewarded in this from having played the first game. Most particularly, I was desperate to get my hands on Darling for what he did to Dylan even with how vague they presented things in Control, and they made it so much worse and more explicit in this one that I felt so, so vindicated.

Really excited for what the "two children from one" stuff is about. Wondering what happened to Former. After all their bluster, seeing that The Board got put in the cuckshed (The Aberrant, which is clearly a piece of The Nail) was fucking hysterical, get fucked you shitters.

Definitely missing Sam Lake's influence on this game though, it felt far too normie - like it was using Control's material as set dressing instead of iterating and developing it further. Story feels rushed to start to set up the open world premise, and it honestly sucks to play as the guy who's just getting abused and yelled at the whole time, even if it makes sense in the story. The combat is really tedious and grindy at first, and I almost gave up before I got to Underpass. The writing is really weak, has a really snarky, annoying tone - like the combat logs about the Hiss, they inject these annoying characters' personalities. I miss the overbearing tone of the first game. Zoe was kind of annoying too, but by the end I enjoyed her - still written weakly though. Dylan being such a wet blanket in dialogue but then a snarling beast in combat felt weird until you get to the conversation about how he IS angry, he just doesn't want to snap and get people killed again.

RIP Arish my sweet prince, you were too pure for this fucked world. He was such a nice guy in the first game he always cheered me up. Langston turned out to be really funny when I thought he was a creepy dork in the first one. Glad Pope thrived and her and Jesse having a relationship makes perfect sense.

Hope there's DLC that improves the combat systems some.

Darling is the villain in the third game, working with Tom Zane. Alan Wake teams up with Dylan and Jesse, each operating in different levels of reality while Alan tries to craft a story to defeat Darling and Zane’s film

Nah, strike is too short range. Glaive is great since you can heel enemies from a mile away. Strike is good against some targets, sure but IMO graive is better.
>>
>>748893905
strike is best because you can do your combo finisher very rapidly. Also extreme damage / falter when used with ignite. I havent had a problem with range; glaive has more but strike has enough.

I’ve finished the game. I’m trying to level up in downtown to get the costume piece but there’s literally no enemies there now and I’ve done all activities and collectibles already

Bros, I vibe-shitted a mod that allows for 3 loadouts that you can customize and swap on the fly. The custom HUD functions correctly and displays the correct buttons and shows correct keyboard buttons too. You can even balance out stuff you put on actions 1-3 so it's not so overpowered like adjusting power usage, damage, and falter damage

I think there was a completely different kid that turned into Jesse and Dylan, and their mother realized something was profoundly wrong and that's why she wouldn't put the shotgun down and wouldn't talk to them. There was a lot of weird shit in Ordinary even before the Slide Projector when you consider the bully has weird records, too. I think the game Severed Circle 2 is too consequential not to be the focal point of this.

The way i took it after speaking to based harelip guy is OOP are made in AWE locations. When a reality shifting event occurs certain items of some from of iconic or memetic significance in the greater human cultural conciousness can be imbued with power. So something was happening and the slide projector that was just random junk in a scrapyard changed because of it.

My personal theory is these are reality trying to create a doorkey of sorts to let people get out or escape the AWE in some manner be it literal, spiritual or mental. Hence why so many OOP are related to some form of movement be it literal or otherwise. Something in Ordinary prompted reality to turn a projector into a doorway to get away from it like an autoimmune response.

The dark place is a film camera and the structure of the dark place is a roll of film. "It's not a loop it's a spiral". Tom Zane's temple of light and mist or whatever is literally the interior mechanisms of a film camera. We've already seen similar with the slide projector. Trust the plan

I just finished the prologue and came here to ask a couple questions without reading the thread cause im scared of spoilers
Found a 1/3 of a health upgrade just in front of the Bureau
Are those missable? or can you return to any point on the whole city at any point?
Did everybody feel like the first boss had a massive amount of health? It took so many "rounds" of chasing her around ffs
The upgrade tree(s) seem convoluted as fuck, are there enough "respec" items to comfortably fuck around with upgrades & weapons?
I played Control and have watched the recap just in case (i remembered nothing and jackshit), do i need to also know a bit about Alan wake 1/2?

Thank you in advance anon

Easily. I'd say you miss out on a lot more by playing Alan Wake 2 without playing Control than the other way around. I'd recommend playing Control 1 before Resonant, but you can ignore everything else until you feel like playing them.
Alan Wake 2 is Remedy's worst game by a lot, in my opinion, but 1 is excellent.

Isn't it Resonants that reset enemies/restore world feats? If you've done it all, then NG+ is your only option, and you should try and clear out more shit before killing the resonants. If this was your NG+ run, then you have to wait until they add the infinite NG++ option.

There's a perk in the skill tree that gives a Vengeance debuff to any enemy that attacks your shield. Vengeance makes them take more damage and falter from melee and shield bash. So block then bash and it'll completely destroy their posture. Lasts a while too, so you can apply vengeance first and then perfect dodge for the buff.

Widely considered their masterpiece by people who don't like their games, yes. The same kind of person who will tell you to just watch a summary on Alan Wake 1 and skip straight to Control and Alan Wake 2, because those are the actually good ones, the others are too gamey and have too much gameplay. Or whatever.
>The game sucks, but the vibes!!!! The reddit musical moment!!!!
Fuck Alan Wake 2 and fuck their retarded bootleg MCU that ruined Alan Wake's world building with shitty retcons. Thank God there's VERY little of it in Resonant.
Fuck those garbage ass "enemies" too, and fuck the chests you solve a third grade math problem to unlock and they pretend that's a puzzle, as if that's decent game design.

They could just make the right d-pad toggle a full loadout switch. If you just want to change abilities like now you just equip the same weapons again on loadout 2. Or use down on d-pad for the weapon switch, you have to hold to go to the Gap and you can't do it mid combat so not accidental inputs.
I think a wheel like the mod is too much. The movesets in this game have purpose, they're not all interchangeable for styling, so some level of limitation is still desirable. But switching between two weapon loadouts on the fly sounds cool.
>>
>>748896364
In Alan wake 1 the old gods of asgard play a song called Balance Slays the Demon to help Alan, it’s one of their old songs from the eighties and we know these guys understand the reality shifting element of the lake and dark place

In this song there’s a section that says “it will happen again in a town called ordinary” so presumably their song either influenced or predicted jesse and Dylan’s existence. The songs contents are pretty applicable to both Alan and tom Zane/scratch as well as Jesse and Dylan since it’s about funding balance to defeat the evil and take CONTROL

Also the Langstrom guy has a cleft lip not a harelip
>>
>>748898771
I don't care about real fan crap, it's a garbage game with their worst game design to date, the writing is shoddy as fuck too and the reason why I never cared about not having Sam Lake for Resonant. He's washed too.
The point about its fans not liking their games is more due to them not appreciating any of Remedy's games and for that reason not giving a shit if this one sucks, because to them they all do. So who cares if this one stinks a bit more? They just tolerate the games for the vibes, they never liked playing them. It has nothing to do with loyalty or whatever. Someone who started with Resonant is as much of a real fan whatever that means. Because resonant isn't a game you tolerate, either you enjoy playing it or you get filtered. No reddit dance moment this time.

He kept saying he had a beach ache and migraine before he ended up turning so I think he literally had the patterning sourcing in his brain. This turns into him doing that patterned speech before it finally flipping him inside out. Hence the hole in his head being the center of it

That being said Zoe also says at some point her and a bunch of the other rangers got tested and came positive for being affected in some way by the patterning (be it blood or other stuff) and Pope says even after Herron is dead the actual patterned stuff won’t go back to normal even after the actual barriers fall. So I wonder if that shits deadly to everyone
>>
>>748898930
That's exactly how I've been playing with the weapon switch mod.
I've got 2 loadouts with different weapons and finishers and cycle them by tapping down on the d-pad.
Works just fine except I can't use the button to switch between loadouts out of combat.

I hate the way they set up the powers on the shoulder buttons more. Having to press right on the d-pad to switch between them is really annoying, when having a modifier key on R1+face buttons or something would work better. I'd do it with steam input, but then I'd lose the dualsense features and the vibration on hammer feels really fucking good.
>>
>>748899140
>either you enjoy playing it or you get filtered
the same thing can be said about you and AW2. in fact, I'm sure it has been said
and that's the thing. you gotta get out of your own head. something can be good or laudable even if you don't personally like it. so often I see anons force their own opinions down the throat of someone who asks for recommendations. but that's doing them a disservice. you should try to give them a more global and detached view
>>
>>748899241
Yeah d-pad right is a bit clunky for that but thankfully I can just use back buttons for that.
>>
>>748893060
I ended up just going cleave because nothing is really as valuable as instant access to lift. Strike even loaded with crit and damage passives isn't keeping up in terms of raw damage because of how low the base damage is, and it also misses a few sources of boosted stagger as a result. The only real benefit of strike is getting combo finishers out faster, but I can already kill any enemy in the game in a single aerial combo before being forced back to the ground anyway. End-game with cleave once dominance triggers on the first enemy I don't even get to combo finishers because the light attacks are doing thousands of damage each hit from aerial+lifted+back attack bonuses.
>>
>>748899254
I gave him an objective view and even said he's missing out by playing Alan Wake 2 without playing Control, so he can get the best experience for himself if he decides to play it. Then I also gave my subjective evaluation like any evaluation of quality is inherently. I'm not forcing anything, you're not even a real person if seeing someone saying they think a game is bad makes you not want to play it without at least looking up footage to make up your own mind.

There's no such thing as "good but I don't like it", quality of entertainment is inherently subjective. Otherwise I would be saying the opposite, it's garbage but you like it and that's ok. But I don't, I understand others think it's good, I just vehemently disagree and find it important to push back on that consensus so that the idea that there's disparity among Remedy fans and they don't all want more of that crap, some of us do NOT think AW2 makes 1 look outdated, and some of us are much more aligned with Kasurinen's preferences than Lake's now that the differences are shining through. I'm straight up skipping the next Rowley game. With the overwhelming praise that Alan Wake 2 got, there's little reason for them to rethink the direction they're going, so I'll just wait for Control 3 instead.

With how much I loved Alan Wake, it's crazy to think that I'm skipping 3 after getting for 2 for a decade. But that's how it goes.
They said this wasn't the story I asked for when teasing the sequel, clearly a statement about taking it in a bold new direction, but it ended up being true simply due to the shittiest RE Engine inspired survival horror game I've ever played.
>>
>>748895054
>reality effected everyone but them
Off topic: I think the siblings subconsciously know it too, they just don't want to admit it. Jesse running away from home by herself, "I always thought we were the same, but what if we are?", Dylan using the right pronouns while expositing, Hiss!Dylan bringing up the theory alongside other things meant to demoralize Jesse, their telepathic connection, and everyone above a certain power level that they meet talking about it. The Fadenlings are more than smart enough to have put the pieces together. They're just terrified that the truth will somehow vindicate what their mum did.

I think that doctor at the field office, or a document from her, says something to the effect of the more latent patterning like Zoe and some rangers tested positive for doesn't appear to be terminal or anything. Considering the hedron's hinted at goal is to perfect itself/the earth in preparation for something, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets used in a future game as giving some characters some natural resistance to the hiss or whatever the fuck the hedron is prepping to fight.

Haven't played the spinoffs, but I hear they're fun. In all honesty, I'd probably put all the games in the same tier. They're such a blast. I really loved the sense of adventure and the cast of characters. I may put 1 below the others simply due to the outdated gameplay, but the story, particular mythology, and locale are just as good as the more ambitious sequels.

They sacrificed too much to chase a specific tone for the story and that story ended up mostly retreating old ground and recycling themes already explored in 3.
The tighter level design with some of the best combat scenarios in any TPS gave way to large spaces and open arenas. All of which are pretty good in isolation, but severely lacking variety in gameplay scenarios, Scotland being one of the very few exceptions. Gone are the supernatural elements (sacrificing much needed enemy variety) to serve to more serious and earned storytelling like an ass pull brother to give Troy Baker another job.
Can you seriously revisit the "you haven't been to a Panamanian jail" line from Drake's Fortune and tell me the most traumatic event of his life when he thought he lost his brother forever is exactly the tone Amy Hennig was going for with her writing?
Druckmann's style was a bad fit for Uncharted and it negatively impacted every element of the game. Level design being the most surprising since Straley also directed 2 and The Last of Us has good level design as well.
The pacing is perhaps the biggest issue with so many back to back long sections of "platforming", which plays itself in Uncharted. Just holding forward while characters retread Uncharted 3 themes. The simple and automated platforming was a great fit for the combat spaces of the original trilogy, they were never meant to carry a game.
It baffles me to this day that so many people consider it the best.

Appreciate the viewpoint. Frankly, I don't remember 3 all that well so I'm due for a replay of the series down the road. I'll be able to compare the games better that way.
I really enjoyed the open areas and cinematic set pieces that you could run and gun (or stealth) in, but I agree that tighter corridors with a methodical duck-and-cover approach has its strengths. I enjoyed that part of Mass Effect despite the shooting being far from the best in vidya.

I also agree that there could have been a much heavier dose of supernatural elements. Visiting Shangri-La in 2 was absolutely incredible. But even then, I really enjoyed finding the "Pirate Heaven" and navigating it.

I think the levity of the jail line and the trauma of thinking you've lost your brother can coexist. People suffer tragedies, but that doesn't mean they're incapable of making jokes. He also could have been more guarded in that moment as he knew Elena less well.

I've always enjoyed longer sections (e.g., Demon's Souls' huge maps compared to the tighter Dark Souls maps), so this was a big positive for me. I don't recall playing any of the levels on a sort of "autopilot," but I also played at the highest difficulty where getting shot a couple of times resulted in a permaheem.

Hopefully the next installation gives you more of what you're looking for. We certainly agree that greater mythological development, higher stakes, and a fresh look at the prevailing themes are welcome.

Alan Wake 1 was never a good or a great game. It was a decent game with an interesting story. That's the reality of it. Same applies with American Nightmare. Not considering that Alan Wake 2 is a straight up improvement over thje first, it's objectively wrong.
>>
>>748901863
It explains how Alan could be saved. Two parautilitarians of equal power working in perfect sync would be able to snare a two-faced antagonist.
>>
>>748903431
>a decent game with an interesting story
Alan Wake 2 is worse on both accounts, so even going with your opinion of 1 it's still a downgrade to me.

>Hopefully the next installation gives you more of what you're looking for. We certainly agree that greater mythological development, higher stakes, and a fresh look at the prevailing themes are welcome.
The Lost Legacy was a big step in the right direction from that perspective. Really excellent entry. Hope the guy who directed it is leading the next one if it's really happening. It was held back a fair bit by the lower budget, however. So even though it's much more attuned with the setting and explores its culture and mythology in more depth, this never translates to enemy variety. But it's a terrific game and I would be perfectly happy to see Chloe carrying the franchise. They should bring back Cutter too, he would be infinitely better as the third wheel to her and Nadine than Sam was.

>Everyone knows they're the same person
>Everyone knows the plot twist since 2019
>Its hammered and implied repeatedly in Resonant
>Every character in-game is still absolutely clueless

Is this the most bizarre non-plot twist in recent Gaming memory?

They even set it all up in the first game seven years ago and they still refuse to basically confirm what is so hilariously obvious at this point now. By the time its fully revealed no one will fucking care even if they are a fan.
>>
>>748907563
I don't remember anyone talking about this when the game came out, personally.
But it's not really this series' style to make a big deal out of twists. I don't think the AMERGHED THEY'RE THE SAME moment with characters making faces will ever come. The possibility of Alan writing the events of the game in motion gets no comment from a single character. It's all just presented as food for thought for us, they don't dwell on character drama.
>>
>>748907563
>>748907895
It's interesting how the sequel takes a very different approach from the first.
In Control 1, it's all about turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. There a secret organization working in the shadows, people can have paranormal powers and regular looking items can be object of power.
In Resonant, all the paranormal stuff is taken as given. Instead, the game focuses on finding the normal amidst all the weirdness that manifests itself plainly. It's about Dylan trying to connect to people, (re)discover his connection with his sister, and learning to like karaoke.
>>
>>748907563
I actually think that they are not the same person and people are simply confused by the story.
>>
>>748908346
>learning to like karaoke
Crap i did the Karaoke but fucked up and one person died.
>>
>>748908346
I was unsure about that shift going in, but I really like it now because it manages to lower the stakes a bit. The threats are still world ending, but it's now less about the infinite mystery of the oldest house and the shit that happened in Ordinary becomes a bigger focus. What was backstory is likely to be front and center to close the trilogy, and I find that more interesting at this point, the FBC stuff is too superhero like and I'd rather focus on the weird.
>>
>>748908426
Does he not talk about liking karaoke if you mess up? That's funny.
>>
>>748907895

Dylan has a moment during his dream scenes in the first game where he hard implies both Jesse and himself have very misleading androgynous names that could be construed as either male or female.
>>
>>748908351
>>748907563
>>748908346
I think the real idea is that they were originally one person, and then they split. The videogame the kid was gifted very likely caused it. The game with the Mother/EarthBound sequence also heavily implies that Jesse was the fake one and that Dylan was the original, since his appearance matches the parents. (This is made even more obvious by the fact that the father is blonde and the mother has brown hair.)The parents very likely broke down because of misunderstandings, like: "Wow, where's this new kid coming from? You cheated on me."

So the game confirms that when this kid was a child, he was a single person, but then he became two separate people. (The personality split: Jesse is the strong and less timid kid, while Dylan simply represents your average, sensitive, shy kid.)

The real question is why, after the accident in Ordinary, the twins can't coexist in the same place and be active at the same time. The first game ends with Dylan going into a coma, and this time it's Jesse. Also, the board at the end of the game says that the two can't meet and stay alive at the same time, for some reason.
>>
>>748908954
Yeah but people weren't taking it as evidence of anything. Just a schizo dreaming of alternative timelines
>>
>>748908351

There is far too much mounting evidence in Resonant not to dismiss it now as just a theory. Especially when you have letters from the Faden grandmother explicitly screeching to one of the parents "What do you mean BOTH KIDS??" and stuff like Jesse repeatedly chanting "Jesse Dylan Faden" in the final Fault section of the game.

Its the Severed Circle 2 game console that probably did it. The Christmas morning probably split the single kid in two people. Thats why the father shoots the TV set, why it still works after the bullet and why he couldn't afford to support an additional mouth to feed in the family.
>>
>>748909359
The game essentially confirms it. Only that they just became two seperate person with their own personality. It doesn't hide it anymore at all. As I said here: >>748909324

Fair criticisms of AW2 but it's really not that bad considering it's a "modern audience" sequel to an inherently flawed game (AW1). I read through your posts and I have to disagree with the gameplay being a weaker RE2make clone. Survival horror games are inherently derivative, yet AW2 does do things differently at times. I personally wish it were more like the first game but what we got after 13 years is already quite compelling, and it could have been way, way worse.

There was plenty of evidence just in the first game

Dylan’s “dream” of which they pretty much all end up being true in weird ways like meeting Mr Door and knowing about Alan wake

>Dylan: "I was back in Ordinary before all of this happened. But in the dream, I was alone. It was just me. I was the only child, a girl. My name was Jesse Dylan Faden. But then the Bureau came and caught me, brought me back here, locked me up. Have you ever noticed that our names - Jesse, Dylan - they could be girls' names, boys' names, could be anything. Don't you find that weird? I find that weird."

Likewise, the Hiss chant (which is actually written by Alan Wake, so it makes sense it actually has plot relevant meanings) literallt incoudes the words “the only child, a copy of a copy of a copy”

Documents note the there’s NO record of the Faden children anywhere outside of the town of Ordinary (neither for “Hugo Stamp” either, a child who in Ordinary only existed in documents on the school register, and his home was just where he lived without parents somehow. The FBC notes they did find records of a Stamp family elsewhere where their two kids were Hugh and Gloria, implying Hugo was the opposite of Jesse and Faden. Two siblings merged into one person)

The documents within Ordinary thst list Dylan and Jesse are noted to be weird as fuck because they only ever mention one or the other. Never both at the same time. (Same with the types of documentation. One has a birth certificate, one has a medical record. Not both etc)
>>
>>748909324
We know the video game and television is an object of power because Dylan specifically remembers the dad accidentally shooting the tv when wrestling the gun off the mom

Then when you’re in the game flashback Dylan notes it’s “lucky” the tv is not damaged at all somehow from the bullet

This is because objects of power are indestructible typically

There’s actually a number of things that are weird about ordinary. I wonder if it’s a Bright Springs type place where it just has a weird weak spot to another realm. Because both the video game and the slide projector and the magical kids is quite a coincidence for one small town
>>
>>748911451
I know, I'm not saying it wasn't there or that it wasn't planned from the start, but having played Control day one, I do not remember people treating it as fact at all. Maybe I just missed those discussions, it's perfectly possible, but I didn't see it. It was hidden in plain sight, but, at least early on, it did stay hidden.
I'm sure some people figured it out, but "a twist everyone knew since 2019" sounds like revisionist history from my perspective.
>>
>>748911735

Just finished the game. What the hell are they going to do about the Hiss? Just one getting out will be enough to infect the entire planet. Is this addressed anywhere optional like a file or convo?
Seems like letting the Hedron pattern all of NY would have been the best move since it only seems to be interested in the Hiss. Once they're gone, it wouldn't have a reason to stick around, right?
>>
>>748912517
Nah pope says the Hiss are just way too weak by the end of the game to spread like they used to. The patterning altered what was left of them and they’ve been cut off from their home dimension or seven years anyway

Yeah, I mean about ordinary is that you have to wonder how the projector also ended up there in the first place. But the Mother type sequence was very cool, biggest homage that they could've done to the Mother series as well.

Plus the detail that showed that if the FBC actually wanted to force the power in a proper way from Dylan was just to put him in a danger situation with a person that he cares about, the fact that Dylan used a baseball and Jesse a slingshot, both representing what they use as Object of Power, really cool stuff. Plus the bullies were stupid and the "mother" like figure as a monster was very cool, even tho I wonder if it was just another mold.

I was actually theorising about the different slides we get to see in person

Previously and in this game we find out that Nosebleed Neil gets trapped in the meadow slide, the one that smells really nice, melts things and makes you sleepy. It’s implied the dung monkeys killed the dog Bogus and threw him in there too, or just threw him in there

Earlier, when Jesse and Dylan go into that slide, they do fall asleep and… nothing happens when they wake up. But outside everything is melted

When Neil is stuck in there with the dog, he merges with the dog

Could this mean the “normal” function of the meadow slide “melts” or “merges” things together. Be they objects or living things. And Jesse and Dylan were immune even when it melted everything else, because they are literally the same person already so it kind of negates the typical effect
>>
>>748918929
Some Arabs flew a plane full of hallucinogenic as and drones doing light shows over New York for a week

Now we gotta go to war with Iran for our freedoms (and to steal their objects of power)
>>
>>748919745
As I stated to my other post, it feels like that the only thing that "melted" or "combined" together was their coscience. Which would explain why there were a lot of scene in the Gap where they were exchanging bodies.
>>
>>748919917
Maybe but I figured that was just imagery showing they were one person that split in two using the game

Also why jesse can sort of swap places with Dylan to save his life at the end. She probably understands it more than him at this point given seven years as FBC director and access to all info
>>
>>748920081
They were also sharing thoughts and words, something that was unprecedented before. In the flashback they make very clear that the two of them thought stuff differently, instead in the gap and such they are shown more of a conscience conenction for some reason. Which might have happened in the meadow slide.

Plus I am sure that Winnie is just a descendant of Dogneil. That's why it sticks with Dylan.

A good chunk of the subquests just describe what was really the relationship between Dylan and Jesse after the Ordinary accident.
The Taxi one is about the struggle of finding each other again.
The mold one is about Jesse finding Dylan not being himself, aka when he found him infected with the hiss.
The bunker bros it's about Dylan that Jesse won't ever find him again and believing that she's death outside for good.

It’s been a while since I played control but all characters other than Dylan and kind of Zoe felt very under-utilised. Odd when they made a big deal about Jesse, pope, Langstom etc when Jesse barely has any lines and the others don’t have much either

I really really like the game, the further I've got into it the more I've appreciated it. I don't really give games high scores personally that often but this is a 9/10 easily, the first control was an 8/10.

I wish there was more depth to the combat than just mashing square.

Actually the more I play the game the more I realize the absolute perfect style Control game would be to take the universe of Control, and merge it with the gameplay loop of a game like Returnal / Saros. It would mesh together so well, and because Control is already set in this unique universe the concept of a rogue like works absolutely perfect for it.

Man I want to see a game like that, I'm not gonna read too much into this thread though because I don't want to spoil the ending of the game and I've avoided spoilers thus far. Just killed the final Resonant and I'm close to the end I think

Anyon else pleased at how intuitive the map is?

Considering how much of it has subway tunnels, non mapped sections, and a bunch of multi level gravity sections, I didn’t really get lost much at all

Also I found it decently simple to find all the important missions and side missions. The only one I bothered looking up for in the end was that camera quest because there were like 3 I couldn’t find

I think it helps that despite being open world the environments aren’t actually that big. You have a couple streets per section really. If you KNOW something is there you can just walk each street and survey it essentially. That’s how I always found the taxis and dogs
>>
>>748931612
I found the camera locations pretty interesting puzzles in themselves. Also loved Control Resonant (and control 1)

Weirdly despite Resonant lacking the punch of Control 1 or Alan wake 2 in that weird factor to me. I think the plot is actually much stronger. Maybe because Dylan actually has a fucking character arc in this game, whereas Jesse felt more like somebody meandering around monologuing to herself in her head, and Alan feels like a meta character

It feels good to see Dylan go from the hated/feared meek abused kid, to this badass “I have something to live for” Chad. I’m actually replaying it now and it’s interesting you even have alternate voice options for conversations because I don’t think there’s REALLY a major difference in how you react to things desu. It’s not exactly an RPG where you can be evil Dylan or good Dylan.

One thing I really enjoyed about control and now control resonant is that by the end of both games with all your upgrades, you feel overpowered as shit, and it’s not “bad design” or “button mashing” to me, more narrative sense. You are supposed to be overpowered by the endgame. You’re meant to have self actualised into a badass parsutilitarian people are in awe of

Just had a theory thought. The Severed Circle 2 poster you can see on your endgame shirt shows the main two characters. A redhead wizard girl, and a dark haired boy knight. Obviously Jesse and Dylan

But if they were seperate into two new kids from one child, does this literallt mean jesse has the “wizard” ranged powers. Hence the service weapon gun, and being able to bind objects of power

Meanwhile, Dylan is noted as never being able to bind any objects of power unlike Jesse (because he’s NOT a wizard despite his powers) until jesse gives him his “sword” like the knight, the aberrant

I think there were two like that? And one had an Alan Wake Easter egg inside.

What’s the max health?

I had 1900 health and 2400 power by the end

Plus 1 health upgrade point and 2 power upgrade points so I assume I missed some
>>
>>748932338
I think you just keep getting them through zone upgrades?

I found one of the Western Incursion cameras by noting the queue of cars all in a single direction and searching the parking garage fault area

>One thing I really enjoyed about control and now control resonant is that by the end of both games with all your upgrades, you feel overpowered as shit, and it’s not “bad design” or “button mashing” to me, more narrative sense. You are supposed to be overpowered by the endgame. You’re meant to have self actualised into a badass parsutilitarian people are in awe of
The level after Dylan accepts the Hiss and proceeds to go apeshit on the Hedron mobs ruled and was a great callback to the first game when The Board unleashed Jesse. Also, when you unlock Ruthless you can basically do that everywhere, it's ridiculous how much I one-shot Heavies with that.

>that second Dylan watched his past self for a second before just crashing through and absorbing/accepting it all
Absolute cinema

>90% of female streamers are complaining that Dylan looks a bit too ugly
why did they make him incel coded?

Labrat MCs are always a little bit incel-coded. Tetsuos and the like.

This is all happening under Mamdani, by the way.

How good is this? I 100%'d control 1 and really enjoyed it even if it was too easy.

Will I be missing anything if I didn't play AW2?

>>748933281
Jesse has a man face and Dylan has an incel face

It’s a faden thing
>>
>>748934546
Not really. Alan Wake is barely referenced at all here compared to control 1

its shocking how good this game is compared to control 1 thats how good it is, it just needs some things fleshed out like combat and boss attacks and its legit a 9-10/10 game right now for me its a strong 8/10 game
