>simple-looking game mechanic actually has enormous depth, where you could even write a 400-page book about iti fucking love this trope
name 3 games.
>>748893668https://youtu.be/mukhzo9OIL8super mariosuper mario 3
>>748893057>tfw you use gush to make 3 mana on turn 3 with only 2 lands
>>748893057>you may return two islands you control to their owner's handi never played mtg. can you explain which scenario would let the two islands return to an owner that is not yourself?
>>748894723nevermind, i think i figured it out
>>748894723There are ways to steal lands from other players
Why not just Ancestral Recall?
>>748894723The biggest nuance is that you can "use" the islands for that turn and then draw cards, specially if you don't have more in your hard, since you can play one the next turn. Also, more niche, you can get rid of AIDS on your islands or "protect" them from other instants that can destroy them.>>748894920Banned as fuck I guess.
>>748894920Gush is so much more than just drawing cards, that's why.>>748895007Both Ancestrall Recall and Gush are banned in legacy, but restricted in vintage
>>748893057>You can return tapped mana to your hand then place one back untappedjesus that's OP
>>748896413You're still 1 mana behind the curve no?
>>748898395Most decks that play gush dont typically play spells that cost more than 2 mana, so you are fine to be below 1 land in play per turn. That said you're also more likely to save it for later, as if you use gush to make a land drop early but don't have any plays that aren't cantrips/draw spells, you will end up discarding to hand size.
>>748893057Gush goes extremely hard in Aesi, I love them both so much
>>748898667>Legendary serpent>No islandwalk
>>748898780>islandwalk>not islandhome
>>748898395Gush generally wins you the game on resolution. You can use it as a free draw spell to win off of labman or Oracle or you can use it to add +3 cards to your hand which you then discard to psychatog or psychic frog or whatever other discard outlet wins you the game that turn. It probably also has some Doomsday applications but I haven't played or played against Doomsday in a long time.
Brainstorm is the better card for OP. There are probably a half dozen different arguments for how/when to cast Brainstorm and most of them have some merit.
>arena added mew cheevos that reward you for attending in-person tournaments >pauper is a format listedPauper masters is definitely happening.
>>748898395Yes but that isn't a problem after early game.
>>748898780>serpent>walk
>>748899292Gush has a book, Brainstorm do not.
>>748893057I wonder why RPGs abilities and items aren't written like the rules of TCGs.
>>748899808There's very few (none?) RPGs with turn phases. Whoever's turn it is can do whatever they want, whenever they want, within the bounds of whatever resource limit.
>>748893057I'm reading that book right now. It's a good book.
>>748898667I'm thinking this, Goreclaw, Beorn or Asuza for a land-hevy green deck.Still undecided
>>748900220Daring today, are we
>>748900557Well i wanted something somewhat straight forward for my first Green deck, only recently got into the game.
>>748898395I haven't played a lot of MtG but my understanding is that draw is pretty much king; it's better to sacrifice any other resource if it gives you more draw.Veteran players feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
>>748900220do you want to do big combos and extra turns? aesigoreclaw or beorn for unga bunga SMASHazusa for pure land shenanigans, probably the best one if you truly want to explore the archetype
I hate when EDH players think they're wanted.
>>748893057>battle of wits can work with a 60 card deckvs>explicitly naming a card that doesnt exist in your deck specifically for a win condition
>>748901785Yeah, draw is basically the most important effect. Its importance scales in a way that's unintuitively non-linear with format, as average power level of every single card in your deck shoots through the roof.
>>748903921>erectile dysfunction homosexualsIsn't that just normal MtG players?
>>748904104I have no interest in pursuing a relationship; what interest is it to you, or anyone for that matter, how my penis functions and my sexual orientation?
If you like theorycrafting card games and resolving triggers I implore you to try Path of Achra. It's about upgrade stacking like Binding of Isaac or Risky Bisky but with true roguelike turn-based grid gameplay
>>748893057>card pay cost to remain balanced>different card turns this cost to a benefitwhy do tcgs think this slop is good design?
>>748904354>Path of AsscrackIt's basically an autobattler, fuck off retard.
>>748904020Not just the average power level, but because of restricted cards the more cards you draw, the more likely you get one of the cards that's absolutely busted. It's not just raw incremental advantage from resources, it's the bursts from finding your lotus or time walk.
>>748901785Draw isn’t king it always will be mana cheating
>>748907451cheating mana in MTG is done through having cards in hand. Every additional card draw is one more shot at a force of will or a gush or a spirit guide or a mox or a dark ritual.
>>748894598Only thing it's missing the twat holding a microphone
>>748904474t. never playedTabbing is a good way to get killed.
>>748908779I'm on the 19th cycle or whatever doing nothing but alternating between "pass turn and win" and otab builds, you just have dogshit taste and bad opinions
