I'm gonna start a Dark Souls 2 playthrough later on with the seemless coop, and I thought about going for hexes as I never used them before. Haven't played the game in a few years and am generally not very knowledgable about it, what are some cool hexes to play around with?

just play the fucking game you stupid faggot

I will, once my pal is home. But we usually plan out our builds when we do these seemless coop runs.

Bump for OP.
Currently doing a cleric playthrough, have nothing to add. Just like reading about DaS2.

Spells in From Software games aren't fun to use, except for buffs.

Well what are some cool weapons to buff? There is a dark buff in DS2 that qualifies as a hex.

Dark Orb is kinda the bread and butter projectile, although the ones that costs souls is generally very powerful for minmaxing, like Resonant and Great Resonant Soul. Resonant weapon also fantastic, especially if you combine it with the blue flame sword catalyst (buffing its attack damage buffs its spell damage).

Whispers of Despair is a debuff, nice for co-op especially.
Numbness, twisted barricade, and repel are fun defensive spells.

Dead Again (corpse explosion) is uniquely powerful in DS2. All other versions got nerfed to shit.

hexes are quite strong but they require a lot of investment. your actual dark modifier is calculated off of both your INT and FTH, so always level those up as evenly as you can. early game youre gonna feel really squishy, because all your souls will go to lvling INT FTH and ATN. dont worry about ADP, you get AGI from lvling ATN anyways. just crank that instead. hexes take a zillion attunement slots so youre never gonna have too many

first thing you want to do
>heide tower
>beat the dragonrider
>talk to the NPC at the bonfire above
>exhaust her dialogue
>warp back to majula
>head back towards heide tower again
>but instead talk to the lady and pay her to open the new path or kill her but she has some stuff to sell
>head that way until you find the NPC staring at a wall
hes your guy. hes got dark orb, dark weapon, and tons of other starter hexes, hex chimes, hex staffs, etc. if you get both your INT and FTH to like 20 or so, hell also give you your starter hex robes.
then just find a nice lightweight weapon you like the moveset of and infuse it with dark. infuse everything with dark for that matter. then put dark weapon on it lol

the annoying thing tho thematically appropriate about hexes is how soul hungry it is, even outside the build itself. the best hexes cost souls. usually not too much with a few notable exceptions, but its wise to hotkey consumable souls in case you run dry mid fight, as it will affect your dmg.

also dont forget, by mastering the dark, you are simultaneously quite adept at any other element. choose an alternate element and bring some holdout weapon with you to deal non-dark dmg to things that resist. i like lightning, because youre already going to have a chime with you anyways, and idk anything that resists both. but fire also works too if you dont mind juggling 3 different types of catalysts. forbidden sun is sometimes worth it imo

Affinity was the op hex, and climax in the dlcs.
The best staff is the sunset staff, given by the hex teacher in huntsman copse when you have 20 into/fth.
