Why in the sweet fuck would you ever want to live and raise a family in a city thats centered around drinking blood, werewolf plagues and the worship of eldritch abominations from beyond space and time?
aside from people who might themselves like those things or at least not mind themthere's many reasons why people might stay in a town that sucks, we see it all the time in our real life, they can't move elsewhere, their life, liveyhood, family, land, or some other connection is there and they cannot leave itand even if they have no reason, or no good reason, they might simply have never woken up and decided to fuck off, they just didn't consider it as many people don't do, simply living their life day after daythe least reasonable complaint to ever make about any piece of media in terms of realism is one that criticizes the idea of people doing something that seems illogical, this in and of itself is the most logical thing there is, people behaving in a way that seems irrational is never unrealistic
