Video game concept art is often more interesting than the finished game. Even when the game itself is excellent, the early art has a kind of fascination the final version can’t quite hold onto.
It’s all the weird ideas and places that didn’t make it in. You see some half-finished monster or a city like it’s from someone’s fever dream, then the actual game has to make all that stuff readable, buildable, and playable, so it gets pulled back toward familiar-looking graphics. Sometimes it’s just technical limits, sometimes the art team’s wild idea has to survive being turned into an actual game. The concept art gets to be weird, the final game has to run.
