What's gonna happen is that it's going to be a decent game that actually does take after the first two games... but it'll sell like crap due to a combination or Switch 2 software sales tending to not be strong to begin with, and people not having faith in the Paper Mario IP after the past three new games in a row generated tremendous ill will (which Nintendo COULD avoid if they knock off this "let's not show off anything about the actual game itself until like a month before it comes out" bullshit they've been doing recently and hit the ground running earlier on to assure people that it's the kind of PM game they want).Just like with Yoshi, Nintendo made a big mistake with Paper Mario by letting the Switch 1 entry be a "fuck you, this is what you're getting" spite game, and it'll haunt any attempt to make a new Switch 2 entry. The Switch 1 was a really bad generation for any IP to continue doubling down on game design that was known to be very unpopular.
