Microsoft doesn’t use the 100GB bluray discs for some reason so they have to use the standard 50 gb ones. What’s funny is the Xbox version apparently requires a “content download” anyway according to its box, so it’s possible that the game can’t be finished anyway. All memes aside, PS5 was unironically the best place to still get physical media because of the bigger discs. It’s pretty much over after 2028. First party Switch 2 games and the rare third party games not on a key card are all we’ll have left. Microsoft is in no way the saviors of physical. Anyone actually believing that is retarded. Even if the helix has a disc drive, it’s almost guaranteed that the vast majority of its game will require internet to run. Almost no first party Series X game is on the disc.

Multiple discs is based and only zoomgroids disagree

I remember this weird flex during the 360/PS3 only to find out later how slow the bluray player was on the PS3.

They don't use 100GB because the original run of Series X couldn't read them properly. They did a revision in 2023 and now they can but that doesn't really fix things because they can't just alienate the original Series X owners.

HD-DVD (what the 360 used) was better than BD but didn't have the Sony mafia backing it, so there was zero adoption from the film industry which resulted in the medium losing to BluRay.

In what way was it better?

It also needed an external reader. BluRay was integrated from day 1.

does it matter i swear on current gen most games dont fit on disc and you have to download it after putting it in. physical media has been dead since the ps3

Remember this retardation from Konami was the sole reason why Metal Gear Solid 4 was exclusive to the PS3 for a bazillion years, solely due to Blu-Ray? And yet they didn't port it over to anything else until 2 months ago?

Ps5 was the best place for physical except for the lack of backwards compatibility with anything predating ps4
