>So if you ever had an online console, and then deleted a recent update for a game, and then took the console somewhere offline later, and tried playing that game you own on a physical cart, get lost kid.
>You basically do not own that physical game anymore because we know there is an update available somewhere online, even though you’re offline right now and don’t care about that update existing
This is the most anti consumer thing that any company has ever done, everyone should be shitting on shitendo for this
>>

Nintendo seems to have decided for us that they will decide how and when we can use those physical games, and if you’re not following the exact rules as they’ve laid them out, your physical game will not work, or you can completely reformat your console to get around this restriction they created, and lose all your save files in the process.
>>
What's Nintendo? Is that like a game?

This was like a thing since the ps4 era where some games absolutely required the latest firmware to launch. Granted, it was to prevent pirates but still.

Maybe this was also a thing during 7th gen, but if it was, it was probably for multiplayer games that released near the end of the generation.
>>
>>748917979
This is incorrect. You can play any disc PS4/5 game you own without downloading an update. You can simply cancel the update and boot the game anyway.

In the future this is going to be a huge frustration with game preservation. If those servers aren’t available you’ll have no choice but to reformat your console and lose your save files to play that physical cart again.
>>
>>748917559
Firmware updates are included on the switch carts, so you can still update your console offline. Non issue. Only brown pirates and false flagging snoys think this matters. Kys.

So if Nintendo's servers go offline, physical games are going to be completely useless? What even is the point of physical games, then? They're once again robbing us of the possibility of game preservation.

>>
>>748917559
You can do a system restore and it will let you play the 1.0 version again. Once you update the software, it doesn’t let you downgrade for some reason, even if you delete the game. It’s definitely annoying, but this doesn’t affect game preservation in any noticeable way. Once the servers are gone, just do a factory reset and pop in your cartridges and hope that the games you bought are stable enough on their 1.0 version. Most Nintendo games usually are from my experience.
>>
>>748918252
>So if Nintendo's servers go offline, physical games are going to be completely useless?

yes, consoles are physical DRM machines
>>
What’s the issue? Once the final update is released you’ll be able to play it perfectly fine offline forever. Once again whipping up a nothingburger. It’s not like he’ll be without internet from now until the time the switch 2 servers go down. Literally just making shit up to get mad at because Snoy has been dropping the ball nonstop

If a person buys a physical switch game and it’s on the cartridge, they should have the right to play that game offline if they wish to. If my storage is full and I want to delete those multiplayer maps they added to the game later, I should be able to do that and still play that game I own on a cart. That’s one of the main appeals of physical games to me, that I own that game and can do what I want with it.

>>748918751
Firmware updates are literally on the carts themselves. You can literally update your console offline with them. Only pirate trannies care about this. The switch 2 is still the most offlline friendly console and the only one that has some long term preservation options. Servers die? Factory reset and play your carts. Need a new firmware update on the console itself? Use your most recent game (ideally a game a bought at the end of the switch 2’s lifecycle that includes the final firmware update on it.) They’re annoyances but they ultimately don’t get in the way of long term preservation. It’s so obvious that the scare mongering retards in these threads don’t own a switch, don’t buy physical copies and don’t know anything about how Nintendo consoles work. This has been an issue since at least the 3DS. But there are very easy ways around it. None requiring internet.
>>
the only time this circumstance is ever relevant is if you delete an update to a game and THEN tried to start the physical version. of fucking course it requires the update you deleted to be played.

if a system update is queued it won't force you to quit playing, you update at your leisure.
people who stay up to date (ie who aren't retarded) will never encounter this

What him and his discord tranny pals are lying about is about it being permanent. If you ever run into this issue and don’t have internet to update your game, go into settings, reset your console and you can play your 1.0 version again. It takes a few seconds to do. That’s what this is ultimately about. Poorfags throwing a tantrum as usual. Since switch carts include console firmware updates on them, there’s no way anyone can truly get locked out of their game without internet (key cards aside.) Pirates are just seething knowing that they can’t stay on the earliest console firmware if they want to play their newer carts. It’s just /v/ showing how poor and brown they are like they do every single day. What a retarded thread.

if you update a physical game that's typically playable without an update, you can never play it again without the update. The big problem with physical Switch games is that Nintendo has the ability to revoke their license online.
The real advantage of physical games is that the license is physically with you (in the object you’re holding), so the only way it can be revoked is if the police seize your game...
But Nintendo has a unique ID for every physical game. If you play a physical game and then connect your Switch to the Internet, Nintendo will receive information about which unique game copy ran on your hardware. And here’s the interesting part: if that version has had its license revoked, Nintendo will simply LOCK your Switch.

>They don't brick your console
You literally can't do anything with the console, unless you have games already downloaded on it.

I'm just curious, how big is your screenshot folder about a certain company that you hate so much, my dear Brazilian "friend"?

If you have internet to shitpost about this, you have internet to update your console, simple as

Mariofaggots will just open wide and ask for seconds
>>

>Why did pirates buy games?
Why not? Nintendo games don't lose value so you can always sell the physical games once the exploit drops.
>>
>>748919352
>bingtendo and valve drone
Nice try you stupid nigger, we know you retards have been making threads seething about whatever hardware valve puts out for people that already having computers to game on for the past 4 years.
>>
>>748917559
Isn't this really old news?
>>

>It's Nintendo fault I'm to stupid to know how to hotspot my phone.
>>
>>748920839
Did you read the thread? Multiple people tell him to factory reset his console to get around the problem. He ignores it and continues acting like his game will be impossible to play one day. What a retard. He must post here.
>>
In the future you will need Nintendo Switch Online to open the home menu.
>>

>Nintendo will receive information about which unique game copy ran on your hardware. And here’s the interesting part: if that version has had its license revoked, Nintendo will simply LOCK your Switch.
Xbox has done this since 2013 but except that you only lose access to that game. They could in theory lock the system too, but that's completely theoretical. It's the same story with Nintendo, we only know the physical games have a game ID but no real world case of refusing licenses or console lockdowns.
>>
>>748922912
It’s an inconvenience. I won’t disagree with that. But it also doesn’t affect long term offline play nor does it make physical copies unusable one day like some discord trannies are implying. Formatting your system takes seconds to do and can be done from the settings. Once the servers go down I plan on formatting anyway and just playing my carts completely offline. It becomes like any other cartridge based console after that. Key cards not withstanding obviously. But only retards buy those.

So update your console.
>>
>>748917559
>NOOOOO LET ME KEEP MY OLD FIRMWARE SO I CAN EXPLOIT IT IN THE FUTURE NOOOO
>>
>>748920552
It is obviously a failsafe feature they added to stop potential exploits that exploit unpatched v1.0 cartridges.
>>
>>748922989
The 3DS did it too. I updated animal crossing once, deleted it later on and couldn’t play from the cartridge offline without updating again. Once I reset my system I could play from the cart offline without the update. OP is taking some old news with an easy work around and trying to make it seem like it’s over for physical owners. Probably a steam tranny who proudly bent over for gaben more than 20 year ago. They want all of us to be in the same digital only hell that they’re in so they need to lie and exaggerate things. It’s really quite sad.
>>
>>748917559
Relax, chud. No big deal. And stop modding your switch or face the consequences
>>
>>748917967
You hit update and it updates because it’s on the cart.
>>
>>748920552
There is software in the cartridge, anon.
>>
>>748921390
How do you back up your save game files so you don't lose them?
>>
Fucking PSP games did this 20 years ago, anon.
>>
>>748924349
So the Switch 2 is a forced always online console?

It is the same with the Playstation. I remember buying a PS3 in 2009, and it stayed mostly offline. and when I bought a Gundam EXVS FB, it wont play unless I update the firmware, though the firmware is included in the game
>>
>>748925670
You can’t. That’s definitely the absolute scumbag part. Want to play your cart on its original software version, then everything must be reset. Nintendo could easily patch this but they won’t because they’re cunts.
>>
>>748926057
If an exploit is found on a unpatched cartridge that enables you to jailbreak the console why would they let you revert to a previous patch or completely unpatched state even offline.
