Clock Tower is probably my favourite. It's funny how a game from the SNES era can legit be scarier than most modern AAA games. The music and sprite work is so damn good.

Horror media often have female protagonists for obvious reasons of being physically powerless (and psychologically but devs can't say that). Plus it caters to large parts of the audience: women, and plays on the simps's dream of "protecting wahmyn". The best horror media still have strong male protagonist but they'll be the exceptions.
