Depends on where they come from. Some western VNs can be better about it (emphasis on some), but Japanese VNs are always written by social failures in a country with an already odd social culture. These people have no actual life experience, and their worldview is immature at best and incredibly retarded at worst. I genuinely can't imagine bothering with Japanese VNs unless you're equally immature.
