How do you have that much time?it actually isn't that much time, all things considered. i stick to short games (i think 10-15 hours is the sweet spot for what most games should offer in the main path), i hate open world games. i also don't 100% games, i play until credits and maybe a bit extra if there is some post game stuff that i feel the desire to do. some of the games (a very small number, maybe 5 or so) were also under an hour to beat. someone can beat 100 games in a year and still have less playtime than someone who only plays WoW or counterstrike. i took a vow to beat more games after i spent half a year playing nothing but noita. while i love the game and absolutely could play it more, i put it down to make room for other games that i knew i wanted to experience.

The writing of the first game hinges entirely on the mystery of the shades and the replicant/gestalt system. Devola and Popola are the perfect example of why it's horrible to play Automata first. You're intended to spend the majority of the first game wondering about them and how they know so much, slowly becoming suspicious despite the contradiction that they obviously care for the people in the village and genuinely want to help Nier. The context of the entire story is changed if you're sitting there already knowing exactly what they are. It's literally the entire point of having branch endings that recontextualize events you replay once you can understand the shades, you're not supposed to know that truth because you're initially experiencing everything from the narrow perspective of Nier first.

WAY more fun, probably the most aggro game in the series once you have upgrades

I guess the difference is that in 2016 and Eternal switching is never committal, so you can work whatever you like in without it being a huge deal. in dark ages switching is slow, so if you want to be aggressive and constantly pushing forward, there's never a reason to do it. also as the other guy said a lot of the shield mechanics are still "you are going to do this." the flipside of this is that your gun borderline doesn't matter as long as you have the shield mechanics down. >>748986150it's definitely more of a far reaction to eternal than a return to 2016 though
