This is still the greatest video game of the 2020s.

E33 mogs it

It's more like the greatest game of the 2010s but released in the 2020s.

not really much of an accomplishment. the 2020s have been dogshit for vidya

I agree for the most part but there have still been some unbelievable once-in-a-generation releases. Baldurs Gate is another example. Mostly a few diamonds in a sea of shit but those diamonds have been of the highest quality.

love how everyone downplays it, incredible job guys

It might crack the top 100, yeah. Gets mogged by GTA6, RE9, and GoW E-day, to name some recent betters. Plenty more through the last 6 years.

You may not like it but elden ring's success (and other highly acclaimed games this gen like expedition 33) are why the general audience is finally getting turned off by sony's goyslop "cinematic" games made by faggots and are demanding actual gameplay from their games instead of "muh heartstrings being tugged this story is so good ahhh".

It was my pick for 2022 and i thought it will be the best game for the rest of the decade.
Just one year later 2 games released that are better.
Baldur's Gate 3 is at least 50% better
Tears of the Kingdom which is like 20% better
And in 2025 i played E33 and Silksong
E33 is not better, but its just behind Elden Ring
Silksong is like 40% better and the 2nd best game currently of this decade.

Elden Ring is good for a 1st run, even in its 1st run i had some issues with it, but its mostly good.
I replayed it again when the expansion released and did another 100% 2nd run. I was surprised how much less i liked it.
For example in Baldurs Gate 3 i replayed it 4 times and i kept enjoying it each time.

I tried to analyze why, its probably because Elden Ring is too big for its content, the enemies are recycled too much, the story doesnt change, the quests are boring and even with its huge itemization, the gameplay doesnt evolve that much, especially because we already played many Souls games before it and most of the weapons/spells were rehashed

Add to all of this its underwhelming expansion , its good, but its not better than the base game and thats a bad sign for a total package.
Blood and Wine took Witcher 3 and improved it 100%. Same with Old Hunters, and Phantom Liberty and even Elder Srolls and Fallout DLCs.
But Elden Ring DLC to me felt like a downgrade

I fucking love Elden Ring

Have never played an Armored Core. Would you recommend AC6 to someone who's only played the souls games? Didn't really look like my kind of game but it's been on my radar.
