He's a PC-only masterrace, and does not play random "weeb shit", so I knew something big was cooking with this game.And the wild ride did NOT disappoint, one bit.It was a huge positive surprise that such magnificent, engaging and soul-full games could still be made this day and age. Released by a declining AAA studio at that.The gameplay is extremely fun and varied, and the game uses it to drive through its themes and ideas - which is exactly what this art-format requires.The story was curious and thought-provoking, though its the themes and message that were the most striking. I'm not ashamed to admit that the ending made my eyes tear up... and just hearing the iconic tune still moves me a great deal.As if that wasn't enough of praise already, the visual-design is simply gorgeous, and OST is drop-dead beautiful. One of the best soundtracks in gaming history, bar none!After beating the game a couple times, I literally hunted down the OG NieR game and all the Drakengard games, and played them one by one. In hindsight, I can't believe I slept on these gems.Obviously, for fans of the DrakeNier series, Automata was a treat. I dare to say it's one of the best SEQUELS in gaming history too; outright "Terminator 2" level.
