Windows is fucking sloooow. The worst offending in my opinion is Windows Update. Downloading and installing takes forever, and you have no idea what's actually running on your computer while it's happening. And then when you reboot you could be waiting 5+ minutes for updates to finalize.

Compared to sudo pacman -Syu, which is lightning fast and actually shows you exactly what's being downloaded and installed right before your eyes
>>
>>748930535
So nothing that matters to the average user who lets their PC update overnight automatically. Okay.

No ads in start menu
Don't have to worry about the system updating and bricking itself without my permission
Don't have to reinstall it every 3 years to remain usable
No telemetry
Don't have to do voodoo rituals when something is broken and not obvious to fix
Sane Python installation
Better compatibility with 20+ year old games
Doesn't gobble up 3 GiB of RAM if I don't want it too
Can copy directories at a speed higher than 100 files per second
Has search tools thay actually work
Sane software updating
Working HDR

You can't show me a single windows user who has never been inconvenienced by windows update. It happens to everyone and everyone agrees it sucks ass

Linux is straight up faster. Every Titanfall 2 match Windows guys are lagging behind me. I think Windows still enforces a 15.6ms timer resolution.

Go search for any nontrivial issue on Windows and you'll find a question on MS tech support with a hindu non-answer to run sfc /scannow.

The AVERAGE USER runs a ten year old laptop shitbox.

Wrong. At most they Stockholm syndromed themselves into thinking copying files is supposed to take half an hour and their old games are supposed not to work.

I use kubuntu and I'm about to hit my 2 year anniversary of being windows free. Why did I switch? Because those faggots kept replacing my gpu drivers with generic ones despite turning off their ability to do so. I have dabbled in linux for about a decade for my job but making the switch has been very peaceful. I'm spending more time on my art, music, & actually playing games. I've run into one issue from a kubuntu upgrade fuckup that killed the SDDM & I was able to recover it from a black screen with no issues. Anyways enjoy your platform war faggot I'm off to play strategy games with my pen tablet shitter.

>only get strawmen or solvable windows issues that aren't nearly as annoying to resolve compared to Linux problems
I can't tell you how many times file searching broke on Windows or how many little workarounds I've had to do to fix annoyances on Windows. You only say Windows is easier because you have decades of experience working with the OS. A Linux guy could easily say the same thing about his OS.

I can't read your response because you're stuck using an out of date font package.
you should probably see if the troon maintainers are done infighting about codes of conduct and have gotten around to using a common implementation ;)

linux does get better performance in some games due to it using less resources, plus it's better with amd since they don't use proprietary drivers.

it's also much more customizable than windows is

>Works perfectly fine on my KDE 6.
*Mostly fine. Programs like Blender, MPV, and Tev work flawlessly with HDR.
I did have a recent issue with games "double-tonemapping" where, in addition to the game's internal tonemapping, KDE would apply its own tonemapping with an assumed MaxCLL of 10,000, causing things to be really dark. But that seems to no longer be the case as of a few minutes go.
Krita still uses KDE tonemapping, though, which is a bummer because chances are you're using internal tonemapping via OCIO profiles. But even then, Krita's HDR is still VERY early.

Only other thing is that there's no easy way to capture HDR footage from a capture card. P010 support was only recently added to the kernel itself in 7.20, and OBS is slow on the draw with HDR support. You can TECHNICALLY get a Rec2100-PQ output using gstreamer but it's displayed as sRGB, and I've yet to figure out how to get it to be presented to OBS as Rec2100-PQ

i switched to linux in 2016 after i upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. i hated windows 10
