I beat it on the PS3 years ago, and it's easily 7.5 / 10, the very least. It's only downsides are purely technical issues, as the console seriously struggled to run Unreal Engine 3 well.

I do hope that we get a good PC recompilation of the DoD games soon. The emulation is nice and all, and can get you smooth 60fps if yer hardware is up for the task... but it's still a bit hacky.

A more detailed retelling is in the prelude novella(for how Zero got the flower), and in Utahime Five(prequel manga, focuses on the intoners and how they got the powerup that made them so strong)

The Intoners are basically exponentially growing eldritch horrors that brainwash people through songs granted to them by gods. The story only really starts once she's recovered though, and because of that for most of the game you think she's actually killing her family and might just be a bad person. The cold open of a dragon pissing leading into a confrontation is way more engaging than a generic JRPG flashback start that goes back even further than the prequel manga and takes away all the mystery of the Intoners from the start of the game.
