[Heartbreaking News] An entire generation of gamers have been fooled by filterlarpers
finally 'they' are nooooticing
These scanline filters are so fucking shit.
>retards actually fell for crt = good propagandalmao, enjoy your landfill rejects
my cheap VA panel has quasi-scanlines by virtue of being a true piece of shit
+1,000,000,000 izzat
You joke, but they will kill themselves over this. no different than trannies being misgendered.
>>748942542Did you know that the only places that use CRTs still are third world countries like Africa, India and South America? Zoomers are becoming spiritually indian by chasing the CRT scam.
>>748942542I am so fucking tired of humanity
>>748942816Spiritually Indian? African? No. Think further back. So far back that - that you need to erase the concept of a "continent" from your mind. Think Pangea. Humans lost a lot when they "evolved"
>>748942542That's pretty funny :)
>>748942542>my authentic retro screen doesnt give me authentic retro vibesZoomers are so fucking retarded
>>748942542The natural CRT look is a lot better than scanlines
>zoomersZoomers had CRTs, this is gen alpha
>crt-royale bad>cheating with internal upscaling goodwhy is bangladesh trying to psyop me
>>748942542Holy shit I'm a zoomer and I had CRTs, both TVs and monitors. I'm either an even bigger third worlder than I thought or these are all gen alphas. Retro games do look slightly better in CRTs but not because of some magic blending or some stupid scan lines.
let me guess, you need more?
-Aperture grille's have scanlines much more visible than shadow mask's.-Larger screens have more visible scanlines-Higher quality connections (RGB instead of Composite) have more visible scanlines.-Higher TVL count's have more visible scanlines. So, if you have a 14 inch shadow mask TV connected via RF, you're not going to see scanlines. But if you have a 29 inch Sony, connected via component, you bet your arse you'll see scanlines. Here's an example from my 29 inch LG running via RGB to Component transcoder.
>>748944189But here's my 14 inch Sanyo running via composite.
>>748944189>>748944264TLDR - Redditors in op's pic are fucking idiots. What a shock!
I will never understand the CRT craze and I'm an old person. I'm playing through Xenogears right now with whatever settings because I care more about the game than how it looks.
>>748944341but how it looks is part of the game experience
>>748944392Yeah I'm too busy getting the AP up to count the possible scanlines or whatever. It looks okay, hell better than it would have.
>>748944341Its weird when you see zoomers go out and buy CRTs. IDK I use my CRT to watch old content as well as playing video games. DVDs look like crap on modern televisions.
>>748944341Old games look and perform better on them.
Megadrive, RGB SCART, 68cm Sony consumer TV.PVMs and BVM's have way more pronounced scanlines, but they're plenty visible even on this TV.
>>748944507They look like "crap" on CRTs as well, because they're in what we call nowadays low resolution. Used to be an upgrade, so why go back? Movies were always hidef. Used to be at least when they were shot on film. Is a bluray worse? Sure not. Streaming versions are what should be looked at.But with games it's even easier because you do t need the producers to provide a better version. Yes sure they did make use of how the screens worked. You can get there 90% with filters. I do not care about the last image. Nor the input lag. If you want it, sure go ahead, but I'll replay Shinobi on an emulator, on a 4k screen, using a Dualsense currently and still have fun.
how do you even know which crt models are worth buying? is it even worth it?
>>748942542>Put LCD screen inside broken CRT body>Sell it for 10x the priceWorks every time
>>748945310You can't go wrong with any of the main name brands. Ideally get one for free. Don't spend more than like 10 bucks. It's worth if you've got the space.
>>748945310It's honestly not worth it at this point unless you're willing to spend a small fortune on a TV, clone consoles and flash carts, or a large fortune on original hardware. I'd honestly recommend either emulating on pc, or picking up a retroid or something similar. If you don't stick at playing games on a chinkheld, chances are you'd have thrown away far more money on old hardware for a few minutes of novelty.
>>748942542> what the fuck is a shadow mask?
>>748942643I bet they're the kind of people that think having exposed lead in their house isn't a big deal either
I was more disappointed that when I bought my CRT when I touched the screen there was no fuzzies. I really wanted to experience fuzzies.
>>748947159put the back of your hand over it when you turn it off
>>748945310>which crt models are worth buying?A model you find locally that has component > A model you find locally that has S-video > A model you find locally that has composite > All
>>748942643>hurr look at me I'm fucking retarded durrSelf report moment.
>>748944341>crazeThere is no craze you larping zoomer. People just prefer having no input lag when playing old vidya that required precise reaction timing and hand eye coordination.
>>748945310if you have original hardware you can simply plug in and play, and you can find one for cheap/free, absolutelyif you're going to pay out the ass for the tv and all the various adapters, no
I mean most CRTs weren't the state of the art shit people hook up their SCART cables to today. Do people really think we saw "lines" sitting on our moms floor trying to rush to the next save point because ER was coming on soon? I mean you could see pixels and shit if you put your eyes next to it. Which you should never ever do because you'll go blind but attaching a screen to each eye for VR is fine I guess. New science just dropped.A decent upscaler is a better investment (and basically costs as much as a CRT now).
Am I going crazy?Aren't there lines in the pictures right there?
retards gonna retard. just buy a 4K OLED and configure it how you want ityou want 4:3? set it to 2880x2160. literally better than any 4:3 display on the marketyou want scanlines? add a graphic overlay
>>748945310>how do you even know which crt models are worth buying?your first CRT should be cheap and whatever you can get - and at minimum has a composite input. After that you get selective and start hunting for specific inputs if you care about RGB etc. Don't skip sets with s-video it's actually really good and my preferred input for a lot of circumstances. >spoileryes but you have to know why you want it.if you want it because you want to use original hardware without scalers and input lag - yes. FPGAs are also incredible on them and you should give those a go too if you want to play lots of systems and don't want to own tons of hardware.if you want it because you think it magically makes your game look incredible - well it does but no that's not a good reason to go for it since your first CRT TV you get will likely look dogshit and could have a plethora of image issues you don't even know about yet. Maybe you cannot stand composite dotcrawl, maybe you haven't seen how a CRT with mediocre horizontal linearity can stretch and squash your image as it scrolls across it and you go to play Final Fantasy 6 on it to cum to scanlines or something and suddenly just moving your character around the first screen makes you cry. Honestly I think most anons would be happier plugging a CRT monitor into their PC and playing around with that than CRT TVs. You aren't gonna get scanlines on them but when you see how good they look running modern games that might be what you need to fall in love with them.
>>748949130lol
>>748943108The older ones did.
>>748944542Perform better how?
