they don't make games like they used to..

NFSU and NFSU2 always had weird physics, I enjoyed the ricing and customization aspect but the races themselves never felt good and the cars felt weird to handle

I think you were expected to ride the wall and lean on nitrous a bit. But yeah the main attraction for me was always adding lights under the car and riceing up the cars.

NFSU felt good but NFSU2 didn't. The map was pretty off when it came to the flow.

I also found the AI in NFSU2 to be unbearable, especially during URLs. They were so aggressive they'd PIT maneuver my car constantly, and the rubberbanding didn't help.
Strangely enough, I didn't find NFSU's rubberbanding to be THAT bad, or perhaps I'm misremembering things.

Having played NFSU recently, the rubberbanding is bad enough that the game essentially becomes a vehicular combat game by race 75 or something where you have to focus a lot on blocking the AI from getting past you the whole race. Basically cucking out their rubberbanding 24/7, because if they get 1st place, they won't stop rubberbanding the whole race, making it very difficult to get past them. It makes it interesting but I can see why it can be frustrating. Point being I dont think I had to do that in NFSU2 that much.

That being said, I have not played NFSU2 on vanilla recently. And I have not played with anything besides like maybe the FD and the AE86. I've theorized that maybe different cars trigger different kinds of rubberbanding in the AI for NFSU2.

And the SUVs I forgot about them for a bit

There's about 3-4 events out of 122(?) on hard difficulty in UG1 where the AI rubberbanding is straight bullshit, but most of those are still easy if you run one of the better cars. Apart from those the game is a smooth ride.

I think I remember that downgrading your car with lower tier parts made the races easier.

Have you tried Zebrahead - All my friends are nobodies from the THPS 1+2 soundtrack? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBcveX82KAk
>to all my friends who've had enough
>if you should fall, we'll pick you up
>to all my friends who've had it rough
>If you should fall, we'll pick you up

Might be up your ally.
