Are you a gen 1 guy or a gen 2 guy? Why or why not? Classic poke thread no gen wars; even though newfags and posers play gen 3.
I like gen 1s janky mechanics and the Japanese sprites are cute. Also stadium has better graphics than 90% of Pokéslop

It’s not a war when there’s no debate to be had, just being honest friend. Also you’ll never be a woman.

>Gen1 vs Gen2
I mean, I played Gen1 on a fucking loop when I was a kid so I guess I'm a Gen1 guy, but Gen2 was a direct and large improvement over it.
I just only played it once because that final against Red was too fucking kino and it didn't want to touch my save of Silver after that, felt like it kill the peak.
Gen2 is probably the only Gen that isn't "mine" and I that wouldn't shit on.
Gen3 was okay too, although it was the point where I realized the series was going to stagnate instead of continuing to improve like Gen2 did.

For me it's gen 2.
Coziest soundtrack and graphics.

Gold and silver are the better games, the graphics were upgraded, pokemon followed you, day and night system was great, the reveal of going back to kanto was so sweet. That's for the game.
I do think the gen1 pokemon are better. The starters are better, the birds are better, love me some Lapras and Dragonite too. Even though I think gen1 starters are less appealing, I do love chikorita and cyndaquil and their evolutions. The legendary dogs are epic. I like Lugia, not so much ho oh. The fire slug and a few of the baby mons were also really cool in gen2. Overall I think gen2 is the most complete package with the 250 pokemon there are. I never owned the GBA games so I kind of just replayed gold and silver for years until my next game which was X.

As much as I love pokemon and played the shit out of it I fell in love with dragon warrior monsters and the breeding system. I always wished pokemon did more with breeding. It's crazy the autism that shiny hunting turned into. Youtube normalized ridiculous behavior.

gen 1 and 2 were only tolerable because that's all there was at the time. gen 3 were the first good games.

I was thinking of the remakes on DS. I really wish they hadn't added the radio stations and like 200 extra pokemon from later gens. It was a really weird decision like it was being developed as something to complement pokemon bank or expand the franchise but it didn't really fit the original vision of the games.

2 is peak cozy but I admit I prefer RBY and ADV for battling. 2 is still my overall favorite thoughever, the tcg, the games, the anime. All at peak comfy during gen 2

Check out Crystal Clear sometime, Crystal romhack that adds following pokemon and a bunch of other cool stuff but doesn't adjust stats/split physical and special/add new mons so that it plays nice with Stadium 2

gen 2 probably has my favorite spritework, especially crystal even if i think silver has the better posing while crystal usually uses gold's as a base. gen 4 has some clean sprites but i never liked how those games and emerald only had two frames the pokemon cycles through unlike how crystal had more full animations that usually tried to keep the mouth open for when the cry plays.

i don't mind the gen 3/4 mon inclusions but i get why some wouldn't, i think they did it better than FRLG just telling you to fuck off if you wanted to use a johto evolution pre-natdex.

Black magic voodoo.
Yeah I think the sprites in gs have just the right amount of detail for the platform and screen size. I wonder how different the game would have been if they made it a gbc game instead of just gb.

Have to go with 2. It was made back in the time when sequels to games were almost always better. The region, general vibe and pokedex were all stellar. The moving sprites in crystal were awesome and not that lazy 2 frame stretchy style of later games. And the music. My god the music is some of the most soothing I've heard to this day. Like a warm blanket on a cool winter day in front of a fireplace.

Gen 1, most of the pokemon in gen 2 are terrible because gf wanted to make gen 1 pokemans the post game mons.
>>
>>748948875
gen 1 because Im fucking old.

>>748948875
More of Gen2 but it's a close contest. Gen2 feels to me like they achieved what they wanted to do in Gen1. It captures the whole vibe of exploring suburban areas while searching for new animals. I like Gen1's more sinister undertones and mystery a bit more than the natural legends 2 is focused on. Though I enjoy both a lot.
